In this video (9 of 12 in the series), we cover the following sections of the DP-600 study guide:
Choose a storage mode, including Direct Lake
Design and build composite models that include aggregations
Design and build a large format dataset
Write calculations that use DAX variables and functions, such as iterators, table filtering, windowing, and information functions
Implement calculation groups, dynamic strings, and field parameters

Hey everyone! That was a tough one (for me, at least 😂), but tried to explain the concepts as best I could. As I mention, make sure you check out the course notes for this section where I link to some great resources from Power BI MVPs 🙌 see more here: www.skool.com/microsoft-fabric/classroom/6e52cd48?md=fce9a29290804e66bab32e330fcbce6c
Yes that was too much to cover in a single video.
@@subramanianramasamy6524 Yeh fair enough. There is a lot to cover in this section of the study guide, and I did go through it quite quickly at a relatively shallow level. I did strip out some sections on relationships/ star schema (covered partly previously) and also OLS/RLS (will cover in the next video) to make it a bit more manageable, but appreciate your feedback!
Yeah star schema and relationship stuff are far basic stuff. Just now I finished watching the video. It was great. But people who are taking this section, should dive deep, because this is a large scale topic. PL300 covers most of this.
@@subramanianramasamy6524 the difference is that the topics covered here are worth around 10% of the exam. So having a wide, general understanding is good, I wouldn’t recommend going too deep on any one particular section (unles it’s your specialty of course!)
@@LearnMicrosoftFabric yeah agreed😊. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Especially the exploratory analysis.
Will your channel is amazing. So well structured and thought.. i am really looking forward to all the other topics you will be teaching! I bet there is a lot to learn. For fabric you are my number one source to study already 😃👍🤓
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
I will second you on that, Will is doing a superb job teaching us all 👍🏼
prepping for the exam, planning to attend on 8th June. hopefully by that time will be able to get the last three sections!
Haha yes I think they should all be released by then! Thanks for watching!! Hope you're finding them useful?
@@LearnMicrosoftFabric Thanks for this series they are indeed helpful!
No problem, I'm glad they're helpful! Good luck for the exam 🙌
Great content like always !
Many thanks for watching!
Where can we find resources that explains the cumulative DAX pattern at 12:52?
I remember concepts like context are required to understand this. Like is MAX maxing over a fixed set of rows, or an increasing set of rows?
14:10 Which keyword in the DAX caused the grouping on Product_Name?
17:25 Why is SUM needed here?
✅
Great video thanks, normally how often do you release the videos ? im planning to get my examn but i want to go over the rest of the videos, thanks for your efforts
Aiming for end of May to finish the series 👍 good luck!
Great stuff as always, Will.
Question for you: I am connecting my Power BI report to my LH. It says at the bottom of the report that it is indeed connected. However, there are no tables showing up in the report. Have you by chance encountered a situation like this? If its helps, I am able to connect and import the tables using the SQL Endpoint.
Thanks Kenneth! Sounds like you're using Direct Lake mode, right? Take a look at this video, I mention a couple of important settings to make sure your Direct Lake model is refreshing properly when you add new tables/ data: ruclips.net/video/ACbBgCwTXSg/видео.html
@@LearnMicrosoftFabric I was trying to connect to the lakehouse which I'm assuming would be the default semantic model. I created a new semantic model like you did in the video and it worked like a charm. Thanks!
i am wondering what's Direct lake mode ? in Microsoft Learn there is only three storage mode : Import Mode , Direct Query mode , Dual (composite ) mode
It's probably an old article you're reading. Here's Direct Lake in more detail: ruclips.net/video/ACbBgCwTXSg/видео.html
Direct Lake mode documentation: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/get-started/direct-lake-overview
It's the new connection mode available in Microsoft Fabric
