    Good idea. I buy my pedals used and I always check the battery compartment and there has always been a battery in there. This might be because of where I live, but I’ve been using power supplies since the mid-1980s. I used to have to buy custom made supplies.

    • @josephallen241

      Awesome! It is true! It's soooo important. Nice!! You must have some cool pieces of history. What's been one of your favorites?
      If you do not change batteries they can be a problem. I get some people that claim batteries have a different sound than running through a power supply. I do not know what to think on that yet. I have been playing with the idea and I feel like there is a difference. I have also been noticing, depending on the battery you use, can also change your sound. I am wanting to plug into some tech to make sure it is not just my imagination haha! Sometimes that can happen.lol There seems to be a different response just like some power supplies can be better than others..

    Do you have any alternative from using tape? Also do you have any videos or tips on how to remove the tape adhesive from the battery connector? And do I have to tape every pedal?

    • @josephallen241
      @josephallen241  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, absolutely! You can use heat shrink over the battery connector. It takes a littleeeee more work but comes out way cleaner.

    • @josephallen241
      @josephallen241  7 месяцев назад +1

      I do not have any videos or tips for removing the tape. If you don't want to deal with the adhesive from the tape just use heat shrink.

    • @josephallen241
      @josephallen241  7 месяцев назад +1

      I do not really plan on taking my tape off because I have power supplies. it is expensive to buy a power supply but you save soooo much money from not buying batteries after a while.

    • @josephallen241
      @josephallen241  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you are not using the battery then yes. If the battery is just sitting there it can produce acid and ruin your pedal. You don't have to but it might cost you your pedal after some time of no use from the battery.

  • @nar____
    @nar____ Год назад +6

    Just wrap the plug with electrical tape?

    • @josephallen241
      @josephallen241  Год назад +7

      Yes, so that is to protect it from the PCB. Normally pedals in general do not have enough power going through them to worry about it BUT it can happen. You have an entire metal pedal.... with the battery connector having power running through it. If that were to make the right contact in the right setting or circumstance it would be BAD. NOW that is rare but it's a possibility. If you put electrical tape on it, you never have to worry about it.

    • @josephallen241
      @josephallen241  Год назад +1

      Yes you do have to buy a lot of 9v batteries. I play a LOT and I get 2 to 3 gigs with them before the i need a new 9v battery. Power supplies are not cheap but you will save money in the long run.

      Awww man, I'm so sorry. Yeah, I almost did that and know some that do. It stinks but some pedals especially those smaller ones do not normally take batteries. I'll be honest. I used batteries for a LONG time but finally got a power supply because I realized I would save money after six months of not buying batteries. It can be expensive to buy a power supply but you will save soooo much money in the long run.
