How long does the blade last? How do ya sharpen it?

I'm on my second year with it and it's not one of those things that I don't use too often other than around my much beds and to lay and move some patio stones. It's holding up great. It's not really a blade like a saw or anything, the metal at the end of the edger is just serrated to help it cut into the grass and dirt easier. The metal is really strong and thicker than a typical blade. Good question on the sharpening. I never even thought about it. Not sure there is a need for me to do that since I don't really use it a lot. I supposed that if someone felt the need to sharpen it, it could be done with a file similar to the way someone would sharpen a saw blade, but honestly, I have no idea. Sorry if this doesn't help much.

Question. Is your handles slightly off center from the shovel part? Mine is. Not sure if it's built that way or damaged during shipment

Just saw this and it's dark here now. I will take a look in the daylight and let you know.

@@randyreviews Thanks! You should be able to tell quicky when you do look at it. Thanks again!

@@jonnybaily1206 OK so I just looked at it. Not sure 100% what you mean by the handles being off center but here is what I saw. I measured the handle part out at 14" long and the center of the shaft fell right at the 7" mark. Then... I flipped it upside down and saw what I think you are talking about. The blade section is not lined up with the handle. Mine is definitely not squared up. I never noticed that and probably would have never noticed had you not mentioned it. I hope that's what you are asking.

@Randy Reviews Thats exactly what I was asking. The blade not lining up with the handle. I'm just curious to know if that is a design flaw or if it wasn't then what is the purpose of it being that way. I tried contacting Ames but I can't find a phone number. Makes me wonder. Thanks for checking it out!
