    That's awesome, are you going to build a desk with dedicated 500 racks right in front of your work space where you can just change out the modules as needed? That would be so crazy to see something like that. I want BAE 73 when the money is right for now I'll just use what I have.

    As a proud BAE owner, I TOTALLY AGREE ....Please MARK the knobs BETTER. Also my only gripe.

    Most hardware doesn't support Dynamic EQs. However, hardware EQs would be great if they came with a plugin that allows them.

    Have you tried an Avedis E27? Read it’s just a BAE B15 with more frequencies points. It’s one of my favorite EQs. Also see you got a serpent splice in the background. That thing is amazing. Still my favorite 1176 of all time.

      I will ask them to send me that unit.

      PSP’s emulation of the E27 is also fantastic, practically lives on my vocal bus for making broad eq moves. The Avedis MA5 is also my favorite Neve style 500 series preamp, getting much more use than my Great Rivers

      @@Hectagonist Thanks for the info. Good to know. Been wanting to get another preamp flavor for a while to complement my pacificas. Was eyeing the ma5, tg2, and h2. Looking forward to trying them out. Speaking of great river…. Have you used their EQs? Was eyeing their eq-2nv as a possible replace/upgrade to my neve 551s.

    • @Hectagonist
      @Hectagonist 4 месяца назад

      @@mhedderl Haven't used the eq-2nv since college but I used them A LOT and I currently own an RND 551. From memory, the Great River is probably harder sounding, very clear, but so much more useful with the Q controls and number of frequency options. In practice, it feels more like an SSL since you can cut out the mud you want and still dial in lows, mids, and highs. Makes it a really good tracking EQ. You can also abuse the input sensitivity control to get more saturation out of the transformer for some additional color options which is nice.
      I also have the Great River 32EQ and absolutely love it but that's an entirely different vibe and not as exciting.

    Thanks for this. I was looking last night at 500 series Neve eqs. I'm planning on getting 2 Neve style preamps and eqs and 2 API style preamps and eqs to get both flavors.

    nice shirt! I had a BAE 73 MPF and sold it and bought a Neve 1073 DPA. They both sound great but I miss the BAE the Neve is a bit cleaner. I have a pair of Audio Scape Pultecs but would love to get a 1073 and API 550 EQ for other flavors. A demo of the 550a would be cool! I’m also curious about the SPL Big and SSL UV EQ. I’d also be curious to hear the B15 compared to your Heritage 1073 EQ. Thanks Barry!

    How about to use BAE B15 as stereo with two units? Is it easy to match Left, Right signal like API 550a EQ? or little bit hard like SSL 611 EQ? I want to know your opinion about it!
    Thank you for the review!

    • @BarryJohns
      @BarryJohns  4 месяца назад +2

      You really need an EQ that is stepped, this one is for the frequency, but not the game. So you’d be able to get it close, but it might not be possible to get it absolutely perfect.

    I use multiple BAE products and they are best in class. They are the best and closest clone of the original Neve and actually their 1073 is the more sought after than the current Neves and even over the originals. Desert island mic preamp, is my BAE 1073 without question or hesitation. BAE IS pricey, but worth it. I have no regrets about the items I have from them.
