When you first open the mod it seems like a generic Sonic mod, but once you beat the first week it is revealed to be called Sonic Legacy. What actually happens: Sonic Legacy (Going under the fake name of Friday Night Funkin': RodentRap) is an FNF Mod having BF go against Sonic.exe. This time, though, it seems he has some tricks up his sleeves and new buddies he's interested in showing you.

X, better known as Sonic.exe, is the titular main antagonist of JoeDoughBoi's 2023 remake of the original Sonic.exe game, now known as SONIC 2011. This game has the intent of being as accurate as possible to the original story, but this does not mean both incarnations of X are the same character. He is voiced by DylanZeMuffin who also voiced Armadonix. Being a reboot of the original canon, he replaced the original Sonic.exe and is now considered the original version of the character.

Fun Fact: This isn't just another exe mod, therefore it's NOT a revival or a reboot of the Vs. Sonic.Exe mod made by RightBurst. Sonic Legacy is confirmed that it will be the OFFICIAL Friday Night Funkin' mod for Sonic.EXE made by JoeDoughBoi and the rest of the OG Vs. Sonic.Exe team (such as CommandoDev and MarStarBro). It will actually competently represent the property with people who actually respect it. (Btw, don't get too hype about it such as sending leaks or something. otherwise it'll get cancelled like the 3.0 build of Vs. Sonic.Exe. or at least the devs of this mod SHOULD take their time to finish the mod without a single rush.)

Who Will prevail?
This version has a lot more love than the original tbh.
Especially since they were able to persuade the player to think that it would be a regular sonic the hedgehog mod. Which is actually pretty cool.
I think the best part of this mod is that it deceives you.
Finding a random Sonic mod on Gamejolt that appears to look normal makes you think you’re playing an actual Sonic mod for it to bait and switch you with 2011X, and gets better when you check the credit, you then find out who is behind this masterpiece.
I actually really like that feel to the mod, making you think that its a normal sonic mod that you found on gamejolt, and opening it looks normal, and seems like a high detail sonic mod that anyone can enjoy, but thats just to trick you, and after playing the first song, and making it to the second song, everything seems normal until "sonic" reveals himself, and the spooky and errie feel of the whole mod is really good in my opinion, i'd say this is Sonic.EXE in the FNF Universe done right

This is probably the greatest sonic exe mod yet, not only is the main song original but it has lyrics, dosent try to remake characters in the same way we've already seen them in other previous exe mods which are just remakes of the og exe mod most of the time, and just overall looks refined and polished

This mod straight up has my most favorite Sonic sprites I've ever seen in a mod! I love the Uekawa like style and the way how this mod acts like a normal sonic mod at first too, that's genuinely so genius.
btw, this is meant to be the OFFICIAL sonic.exe mod, unlike the original mod. it has lord x's creator on it as a director and artist, who iirc co-owns the original sonic.exe.

I love the start of Free 4 Me with the lyrics not only because it reveals/hides it really well but also the lyrics themselves.
"I only need you to run with me today." Which if you change a word you can have "Sonic" saying that he wants BF to run away from him.
"You can stand up and fight or be afraid. It's your choice." Almost as if he's taunting bf to try and fight him like Knuckles or be afraid like Tails and Eggman.
And the pause of the music and the quietness of Sonic's voice at 4:09 sounds so damn good.

Tbh the mods name Rodent Rap have it away just slightly because if you look at the logo the T is Upper case so the name is now Roden Trap.If you search up Roden online it means red valley or he who comes from the red valley so the devs are geniuses

Yeah, the "faker" form is almost always just eyes closed back turned, immediately getting you suspicious. But this one he actually acts and looks like Sonic, he does still do the back turn thing in FREE-4-ME but with the voice and the posing you feel like this time it's a thing Sonic would actually do.

It is the same team who did the original Sonic.EXE Mod. They regrouped and now are trying to do this mod and unlike the original they actually trying to keep it secretive and the crew more well knit as not to have too much leaks. But also this demo just really pulled the subversion aspect both in terms of hiding the fact it's a demo of this project and just the events in the mod.
don't forget to mention FUCKING revie_03 (also known as raven) came back to work on this mod after we all thought she was gone

thus mod has already earned my respect, and i haven’t even gotten past the week select portion of this video. To know that this mod successfully pulled off a bait and switch by advertising itself as a normal fnf sonic mod and being dedicated enough to make everything seem completely normal with that intro “animation” and title screen/week selection screen, now that’s awesome
something i really love about this mod is just how they made sonic. it’s not just the classic design for him but they really decided to go for the modern SA/SA2 look for him which makes him look more clean. On top of that the voice and the animations they’re so smooth and how they made him act like the actual sonic. in the Free-4-me song when he talks about he wants you to run with him, and him saying you can fight or be afraid, really jus can foreshadow he’s deceiving you. because of how good he’s being fake it makes you think he’s just sonic. This mod is gonna be amazing!

I was a surprise to see this mod release. A offical revival of Vs. Sonic.EXE is something I thought would NEVER be possible. The transition in the second song got me good! I can't even think of any other time a mod has done that. It is freaking genius. The art and songs are really well done (I swear I don't see as many people talking zbout BF's sprite and it needs to be appreciatedfor how fluid it is. Love the Alt. animations too), and seeing a lot of the original team behind it like MarStarBro, JoeDoughBoi Strum, Doorknob and more really shocked me. Also the lyrics "We're here to stay, we'll never go away." is ironically so true. I don't really care what others say about the FNF EXE Community at all, I just hear to see the passion that is still inside of it.
I'l be honest here, it was a genuine surprise to me that Landy voiced Sonic in this. I could instantly tell it was him lol. I think just from hearing it from the IDW Comics dubs and Sonic Forces Overclocked, I have grown acustom to it. Also that transition was sick! The mod overall, has been really good so far, and I can't wait for more!
I REALLY hope this doesn't get cancelled or worse goes down like the original mod.

Wow just wow, 2024 just started and this is already my favorite fnf mod from this year, i love that X is based on sonic's adventure 1 design instead of just being based on classic sonic for the millionth time, overall this mod is looking to be one of the best sonic.exe mods out there and i'm very excited for future updates to this mod (if nothing bad happens that is)

the fub part of this new version of the official mod of sonic.exe mod, is that it trickes you, like the original game back in 2011-2012, hope that this mod get more and more bigger, like mario madness

The game does not even trick you. Very obvious what's going on from the moment the title screen ends.

I feel like the way this mod introduces the "EXE side" of Sonic is way scarier than other mods because instead of just starting off with him, the whole mod tricks you into believing it's gonna just be a normal Sonic mod. Even Sonic gains the players trust by acting friendly and like his normal self, only for the atmosphere (and Sonic) to completely change.
