Incase while using this function you need to filter dynamic columns. In this case for eg: App and Profit. Then the formula should be - =SORT(FILTER({C5:C,E5:E},B5:B=H6,D5:D>0,2,TRUE) You can arrange the columns however you want For eg: If you need Division and Profit =SORT(FILTER({A5:A,E5:E},B5:B=H6,D5:D>0,2,TRUE) There is a video for this by the same channel on how to do it on Excel and its quite different. These videos are awesome! Thanks so much. I'm using them in my classroom to filter and sort student responses to various tasks. But, I find that as more students add their responses, I have to manually adjust my filter formula to include the new line of data added to the top of the spreadsheet because I have a reverse sort for column A (Timestamp) so I can see the newest submissions first. Is there a way to NOT have to manually change my filter formula every time?
Thank you Leila for this wonderful course. I want to kindly request that you further add date filter to the course like from 1/1/23 - 31/12/23. Thank you
Thaaanks. I've been trying to use vlookup, indirect, index, match to acquire the same result as this filter function. Now this makes a lot easier. Thank you so much.
Great video :) I'm just wondering if it is possible to use another conditions, but not linked with other condition like logical "and", but rather like logical "or". To have more results, not less.
Hi Leila, Is there option for table to share from different location like url. Or other options. I don't want to show entire data table in the excel & want to search data on conditional filter n only show 2 column only..
Great, this is what I looking for, but may I know can i add another condition at another dropdown list? so that I can have filter the same roll with two condition. appreciate if you can advice on this.
Would it be possible to filter inside the data set itself using the dropdown instead of creating a new table? I tried to use filter mode and write a condition where I was pointing to the fact the data should be greater than a given cell but it does not work, just work if I use a given number directly.
Hi Leila,I have also joined ur course on udemy I want to know how the filter function will return headings dynamically in Google sheets it works with vstack function in Excel. How It will work in Google sheets.
great video, but if I have more then two conditions in one column how could i get it? for example, I have this column DS_occupied have two condistion as shown below? =FILTER( { DS_model, DS_flate, DS_colour, DS_DateEnd } , DS_occupied ="AV", DS_occupied ="Not Found")?

1) When you added B5:B, that translates the range will start from B5 until the last row of the workbook or the data? Does this effect the performance of workbooks with lots of formulas? 2) There is no screen tip for formulas like Excel in Google Sheet without having to press F1? 3) Can you evaluate formulas in GS like the F9 key in Excel? 4) Does GS have structured tables like Excel? Thank you!!
Hi Sal - in regard to your questions: 1) To an extent but not like Excel. With Google sheets, the rows are restricted to 1000 rows - unless you need more then it of course expands. But because it's restricted, it's as if your formula goes to 1000 rows. In Excel this will go to the bottom of the workbook which will make files slower. 2) There is, but in my experience it seems if you turn if off once, it remembers and keeps it off unless you turn it back on. 3) Unfortunately not, you have to evaluate on the grid by breaking down the formula 4) No
@@LeilaGharani one more thing - how do you know or how do you tell the range B5:B goes to 1000 rows? So if you have 2000 rows of data where does that range reference go to?

Hi, Leila! Thank you for this helpful video! Your course is definitely on my list of to dos! Trying to build an internal inventory management system using Google Forms and sheets. Trying to combine two tabs onto another tab using two filter functions. I got that working. But I can’t seem to get the optional drop-down menu filter sections to tie in with the filtered summary data. For example, If the filter option for “Seller” has text value, I want the table with the two filter functions to update the filter based on what seller is in the filter drop-down. But the issue I think is some items have more than one seller each on their own line of text within a cell. So I don’t think the filter function will read partial text from the Seller column… :( Anyone happen to have in insight on this?

I actually think I prefer the logical statements in Excel, than the multiple conditions in Sheets, I'm not sure why, perhaps I'm a traditionalist! I really wish they'd both offer the ability to aggregate though. Something like: FILTER(C5:E,B5:B6=H6,SUM(D5:D)>0) *, where filter is more akin to a SQL select and group by statement (although Excel could assume the groupings as implicit). Maybe sheets has something for this. *obviously, that wouldn't be applicable in this example as it is already grouped at app/region level, but app sales by division would need aggregated as a better example. As always, thanks for the excellent tutorial. Loved it.... may I ask for a tip please? I basically want to be able to filter a range of columns. The usual formula is something like this: =Filter(Data!A2:Z,Data!A2:A = Choices!A2, Data!B2:B = Choices!B2) Where A2:Z is the range and the filter for column A is A2 and the filter for column B is B2. In other words, the user enters filter choices in A2 and B2. In future, I will extend to many columns A, B, C... Can you propose the formula by any chance?
You don't have to modify your formula. Just make sure the source data has record can match specified condition. Example, Choices!A2 = Apple and Choices!B2 is blank. As long as you have a record match these conditions, Filter can generate results for you.
