      Honestly? Their height for me was during the OnePlus 3 and 3T area. The 5 is still very good, though when I got it I didn't really get a lot of use out of the dual cameras. The 5T joins the 5.
      The 6 though, I'm very annoyed at them joining the 'glass back' hype for no real reason. I mean other smartphones at least bring wireless charging. I'm totally fine with the lack of wireless charging, but without it there's no legitimate reason to stick brittle stuff on the back of my phone. Still, because the lack of better options I'd probably still go for the 6 in its generation. But then the 6T... Yeah no. No jack no sale. And the 7 uses way more space to allow that stupid pop-up-camera which I'll never use.

      The official Samsung build is still active, based on Android 9.0 and they still release "over the air" security updates quarterly ( security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb )
      The official LineageOS build is inactive since Feb 24, based on Android 7.1.2 and receives no further security updates ( www.androidpolice.com/2019/02/24/lineageos-ends-official-nougat-builds-as-pie-support-approaches/ )
      Not to mention Lineage OS has never supported the Snapdragon version of S7 (only Exynos)
      You CAN install newer Lineage OS versions to your Exynos S7 that aren't official. That is, if you trust folks online to be responsible for what's on a device that's always in your pocket, has multiple cameras and mics and that you probably use to access your emails and banking accounts. Or if you are tech savvy enough and would rather waste your time working with source code than spend that time making money for a new phone

    If people really doubt the performance of Zenfone lineup then you should test it out by yourself. I'm a Zenfone 5Z user it's been a year now and the software updates is just crazy, feels like I updated the phone every month. The camera got a good rating on DXo Mark and it is a pretty good camera in real life. Well if it's not good enough then we have a GCAM port ready to install and it's solve the "bad processing images" of Asus phone. The build quality is just magnificent and I can't see myself using a $1000 phone but wanting to see what's Asus coming after the 5Z, now we got Zen 6 and it's one hella great phone again at it's price point. At this point I really can't see others brand in Android area doing a pretty good job than Asus - I mean we only got iPhone to choose in iOS area - so for Android I'll go with Asus anyday 😉. Great review Dave but you need to check out the camera again after the first update, I think right now there is no other phone than can record a 4k video with insane quality like Zen 6 did.

    I have a Razer Phone 2 and I plan on getting a different phone.
    My reasons:
    1. Clicking/ popping sound coming from the speakers when the speakers are in use, this a very common issue with this phone. I’ve sent it in to be fixed/ replaced
    2. GIGANTIC AND UNCOMFORTABLE. My hands are small and this phone is 220 grams- so when laying in bed on my side I literally need 2 hands to hold it (or use the less comfortable arm for better grip). The corners are uncomfortable as well. My friend, whenever she sees my Razer Phone 2, she says it’s like a brick- and it is.
    3. A very unknown phone and there’s probably only 5 cases in the market for this thing.
    4. There are much better phones on the market that you can buy used for much cheaper (Galaxy s10 for example).
    I originally got this phone cause I’m a gamer and it does a great job with games, though it does drain battery fairly quickly when gaming. (Went from 100% to 12% in around 2 and a half hours, I was playing Ark with a Bluetooth remote and the phone was set to 120 refresh rate and the Razer logo light was on, I probably should have turned the light off but whatever)
    I sent it to get fixed for the hardware issue so now I’m stuck using my old iPhone 6s (why my profile picture has an Apple phone). So I shouldn’t complain about the battery life, because let’s be real an Apple phone dies in literally 2 hours just scrolling on Instagram.
    The chroma light on the back IS cool, but after having it for a couple months (the hype went down) I ended up just turning it off to conserve battery.
    If the phone never developed the speaker issue I would have never thought of getting a new phone but because it developed the issue for only having for a couple months... my faith isn’t too high in it being replaced.

      The RAM and high refresh rate screen teamed up with the vapor chamber and design that's engineered for better mobile gaming are what make it the best choice on this list in my opinion. I really wish tech reviewers would stop shitting on phones because of the camera alone. Yes, people take pictures with their phones. But people who give a damn about their photography by a regular camera. Does the camera work? If so, does it do a decent job relative the performance and feel of the rest of the phone? If that's also a yes, then I don't give a damn. The only complaint people seem to be able to give in the review industry are all "its camera sucks." It's a fucking gaming phone. It's not meant for photography. It's meant to get the best performance and experience in games. Sorry for the rant 8bit. Just putting in my two cents as a followup to your correction.

    Dave, I use the s10+ and I gave my s9+ to my wife. In my opinion the 9+ at it's price is the best of the lot. If you can purchase for five hundred bucks it's an excellent price. It's the swiss army knife of all 5models your discussing. It does everything quite well. Especially the display. Great review to help people chose!

    On Amazon, you can get a "refreshed" black version of the Note 9 for $535. That seems like a great deal, & you have 30 days to return it if there's something wrong with it. Although, a blue version with 512GB is $710 or Lavender for $715. That one has the option to add a 2 year protection plan as well. I'd probably get the blue.

    Woah the asus looks like a total steal for 500 dollar range. I've had a galaxy s7 a few years now and I would totally buy that at this price point when it releases globally. Got virtually NO bezels (which thank goodness, galaxy s7 feels so old now) and it just looks premium. I don't really use my camera TOO much, I mostly just want a really good 2019 experience in a phone, and asus looks like it could do it for me :) great video Dave!
    Edit: only thing I would be worried about is the connection. I'm not too familiar with Asus as a smartphone producer and my only other wish would be that it can get good coverage in the United States. I know phones like the Poco are very good value but they dont work with most US carriers. Otherwise I would've bought that phone ages ago.

    People : Samsung doesn’t push software updates like other manufacturers regularly..
    The truth is : Samsung releases stable updates which runs perfectly on the devices unlike my Xiaomi phone, which gets updates atleast once in a month and the main reason for that is every update creates issues like sometimes the camera doesn't work properly, sometimes its the notification light/keyboard/call quality etc. That is why they push so many software updates to resolvs previous update's problems :3

    If the Zenfone 6 had an OLED display instead of an LCD, it would be the perfect phone. As for the camera, if GCam gets ported to it it'll definitely hold up well.

    • @myolgiden
      @myolgiden 5 лет назад

      Even without amoled, it is still a great deal. Headphone jack, 5000 mah battery, stock android, stereo speakers and hq headphone performance.
      Also its display is really shines compared to other ips displays. I'd say display is slightly better than HTC U11 panel, which has really good ips lcd.
      So if amoled display is not deadly for the buyer, zenfone 6 is the best deal right now.

    • @enthusiastech
      @enthusiastech 5 лет назад

      @@myolgiden it's a great deal no doubt but as a person who's been using a phone with an OLED for over 2 years, I can't go back to using an LCD on a phone

      @myolgiden 5 лет назад

      @@enthusiastech I used galaxy s6 for 1.5 years, and after that I changed it to HTC U11. Believe me, it doesn't that bad. It's about quality of ips panel. I know that many ips panel is shit. (Unfortunately this is what it is. But in my opinion, Zenfone 6's ips is even better than HTC U11's.)
      But good ones are not that bad compared to amoled. Sometimes ips is better your eyes too. Now I use ZTE Axon 7 and HTC U11 at the same time, and HTC U11 is more comfortible than ZTE Axon 7's amoled to my eyes.
      I think you should not have prejudgement about good quality ips panels.

    • @enthusiastech
      @enthusiastech 5 лет назад

      @@myolgiden agreed, when I looked at an iPhone XR I wasn't even able to tell the difference unless I had a phone with an OLED side by side. Guess I'll just have to see how the display is with my own eyes until I make a call.

    • @myolgiden
      @myolgiden 5 лет назад

      @@enthusiastech XR's ips panel is good, but resolution and ppi values are really low. I compared it with my U11, in terms of quality they were close, but U11's high resolution was way better than XR.
      I think Zenfone 6's display will be better for your eyes because of resolution and ppi.
