The new video with Mr. TIG & Kevin Caron is out --> Back to Basics: Intro to DC TIG Welding. Ask questions and make comments at the Weekend Warrior Welding Forum: www.weld.com/index.php/Weekend-Warrior-Welding-Forum/categories.html
We were waiting for someone to notice that! Just some fun we had during shooting this episode... For those of you that watch Kevin's videos... that is "The voice".
The machine that we were using is called an AHP and is a machine that we were testing. I am not aware if this particular unit is yet on the market. So far we are enjoying it and it is performing quite well for under $900!
I bought this welder and it was delivered this week. I've been doing TIG welding on steel and aluminum. I haven't done any stick welding yet but I'll try some tomorrow evening. It's a really nice welder. I'm really enjoying trying out its functions.
Two things come to mind when watching this video: 1. I coudln't remember if I was watching welding or a golf tournament. (Nice commentating Mr TIG). 2. I've never seen that yellow machine before. What is it? Another winner guys! Keep the video's coming.
OK, I'm all in. I've heard and seen enough. I placed my order for this welder today! By the way, the company posted a summary of this welder's features on youtube. I like Kevin's summary better. Keep these videos coming Mr TIG.
Yes, you can get a tighter arc by having a more acute Tungsten angle. You also get a tighter "column like" output when you use 1/16 Tungsten as opposed to 3/32.
Kevin is very active over on the Weld .com forum and we decided that it would be fun to get together and shoot a series of videos. This is actually the second episode we've done and there will be more. You can get the release schedule on the Weld .com homepage.
Great video! I like the fact that the two of you have created a series with a nice progression. Of course, I always look forward to the close up of the welding and you guys delivered. I too am interested in seeing more about this welder. If it does come out at or below the price mentioned in the video it will break the entry barrier for a lot of welders on limited budgets or who want a second welder as a backup for their small fabrication business.
Bought this ahp tig and I love it! I've only used it for auto body work so far but hands down worth every penny!!! Upgrade the tig torch with a gas lens. About less then 15 bucks in eBay. I'm using the 1/16 tungsten. Over all a great welder for the price.
Milton, I really think you are going to like the machine. When we did the video there wasn't a specific price yet. For $700 you can't beat it! Let us know over on the forum how you like it and show us some pictures! Link in description.
You can get the torch and any setup for your specific machine thru Tigdepot.net. If you are not sure of your connections.. just let us know your make / model, take a phone photo and post it to the Weld .com forum. We will see what you got and make it happen for you. Thanks, Mr. Tig
Thanks for the information. I actually read the description on Amazon more closely and it says IGBT right in the description. I went ahead and placed an order.
The next video in the series will come out Thursday morning. You can get a schedule of upcoming videos and topics on the Weld.com homepage (at the bottom).
I tried some 6011, 6013, 7014 and some older 7018 from a container I opened last summer and they all burned really good. I'm not sure if my technique is getting better or this welder has a really good hot start but I never stuck an electrode.
You will find it is very difficult to have a electrode stick with the new Anti-stick feature that we added to the production run. The unit that was used in the videos has been improved upon for the production series
How does the anti-stick feature work? Does it sense the current surge when the electrode sticks, and then automatically ramps up the current to break it loose again?
Just agreat video ,also I,am along time fan ofTHE ART MAN, just subscripted to your channel loving it .you took your time explaining things thank you. ps lloking to but tig machine for home use . ac /dc what you suggest MR> TIG
Ok so, NO ONE ever explains foot pedals to answer the question I have. Basically, my question is, on a foot pedal with amperage control on it, if you go full pedal is it then giving you set amperage? Or is set amperage half way of travel on the pedal and then it'll go above the set amperage if you floor it? My boss's Longevity 200sx has the foot pedal with amperage control on it. He is saying that your set amperage is half way on the pedal. So I would like to clarify this. Thank you
Thank-you Milton, Mr Tig and Kevin for introducing me to this welder. That's an awesome price. I can't wait for the next video in this series.

No problem Lee. That was the intention of this "Back to Basics" video series.

Thank you fella's for making these entry level vids. They are very helpful to noobs like myself

I don't know if it is a typo or introductory offer or whatever. I don't care because I have a tracking number!! $700 at Amazon. I am so stoked!!
Pulse, stick, everything. I'd like to see how this machine performs too. Keep this videos going. :-)
When is the next video in the series? Are you sure this pulse model will sell for under $900??
Count me in as interested too! I'd like to see more on this AHP welder.
Awesome thanks 🙏 for the information

What machine are you using, and how do you like it?
Where can I buy the torch/gaslens? My inverter has an outlet for gas separate from the connection, so can it be adapted for this?
Yes, the machine is under $900 with pulse.
Milton, I am looking for a TIG machine, just wondering if you would recommend this machine since you have had it for awhile.
Thanks Dave

I need to get that AHP
Is this welder made with IGBT components or cheap MOSFETS?

Wicked Moto full pedal is gives you the max amperage you have set on the machine
shakin' the dew off the lilly! i love it! bwahahaha!
I'd like to see how this machine performs as a stick welder! Mr. TIG, will you become "Mr. Stick" for a day?
We use Fairchild. IGBT
IGBT
You explain the Pulse controls but you don't really explain WHY Pulse is beneficial on a TIG machine... What is the real purpose of it?
Ah, it's the little things...
They made such a big deal about electrrode negative or positive in the begining yet didnt explain it at all......
@9.16 wtf? lol
