If you guys saw how my boss welds up alum tanks you'll vomit. Cfh maxed out on a #7 cup no gas lense with negative tungsten stick out. Yes I said negative. It sits behind the rim of the cup. With pure tungsten which is rated 145 amps. He burns at 190🤦🏽♂️

I didnt get to see the arc shots while filming, they are pretty incredible and shoe a lot more detail than I expected! Kind of pumped for the balance and frequency segments to come out so we can see whats going on in slomo!

With the inverter based welders you can adjust your frequency unlike transformer based machines. This allows you to keep a nice point for quite awhile with proper tungsten size for your needed amps. The tungsten will still ball up slightly, but not as much. Its best to use a 2% ceriated, 2% lanthanated, e3, or one of the newer blended electrodes. They are much more stable than pure.

2:24 if you react quick enough you can sling the hot aluminum off the tip the tungsten. Sometimes you can get back to welding, but at the least it will be an easier cleanup.
My Everlast has given me a lot of problems. I had to send it back to have it repaired. Luckily it was still under warranty. Cost a small fortune to ship it though. At least they paid to ship it back to me.
Damn. You are one good teacher. I haven't finished stick welding but this already has given me a lot of foresight. I now know what to do when the time comes for me to do TIG welding. Thank you so much.
@@jessemccollum I just got an EverLast. I'm having some issue with my welds so this info helps. Do you prefer not to ball the tungsten tip ? Was that 1/8" or 3/32" filler rod ? 4043 or 5356 ? Thanks for responding.
@@milesmoore5422 I only ball my tungsten if I'm on a fresh grind and going to be running high amps..... Like above 200. For this video I was using 3/32 4043 I believe

I did both those dip things today,mostly on fillet welds, on 2mm thick plate.

#1 Buy yourself a water cooled TIG TORCH. especially if ya welding 3/8 or thicker! Save you time and headaches! Just my opinion as a life time welder.
For sure, I think the closer you get to 200 amps, the higher the need for a water cooler, especially to weld for any kind of duration

I was using 1/8" 2% lanthanted tungsten, using AC.

Running a nova Roto head 20 series torch, this material was .090" thick, 100 amps and 120hz, 35% balance
