Fascinating. I have a Takumar 28mm with Aperture stuck at 3.5 and need to do the exact same thing. Very helpful this video. What do you recommend for a thorough cleaning?
I think we do have a Takumar 28mm F3.5 video disassembly up on RUclips. Check my other videos. What do you mean by your question? For a cleaning solution, we mostly use Isopropyl Alcohol.
@@FocalReduced Found the Takumar 28mm video, thx a lot. Isopropyl makes sense. I was hoping you can recommend one of your videos with a deep clean in detail.
I was hoping all the videos would be in detail, but I guess not. Exterior parts and helicoid parts usually go into the ultrasonic cleaner. Painted areas are masked off. Aperture assembly is cleaned by hand with Isopropyl Alcohol. Glass lens elements are usually cleaned by hand as well, unless they are completely drenched in oil. They will get washed in cold water and liquid detergent.
@@FocalReduced Thank you so much. I haven't been through all the videos, i guess i should dive deeper into your channel. Sorry for asking silly questions. I now have an excellent first project to get my hands on and your channel will be my university. Let me see how I manage. Love your content btw.
Very helpful thank you. I have cleaned my smc version with metal focus ring version with great results however I feel like focus distance has increased and I don't know what did I do wrong. I might alaign red triangle with infinity and see if that works. I am just not sure if I put second from the rear element upside down
If you have installed a lens element backwards, you will notice it in the photographs taken with it. Sharpness will be significantly effected (except for the last lens element). If you are sure you didn't move the helicoid during the disassembly/reassembly, be sure to install the focus ring at the same position that it was removed. If you need to recalibrate infinity focus, watch my other video no how to do it.
Man, it is a better idea to comment on what you're doing, you'll get more views like that. Also, drop the music, only use it in the beginning, it's distracting and annoying for most ppl.
This is why I’m willing to pay a premium fee for competent camera repair. Thank you for reminding me of the skill involved.
Excellent video, thank you!!
