Firestone wanted me to pay $80 once.... Man, mechanics will take you for a ride EVERY time (if you let them)! It's worth learning about cars as much as possible! There are things you can fix/maintain yourself and save a ton of money!
This is so true! I usually do work on my girlfriends car. She got her brakes done at a mechanic and they wanted to upcharge her $65 for the same filter that costs me $10 and a minute of work. Thankfully she knew I could do it for way cheaper and said no. These are easy to install
My dad told me about this when I got my first car. I record every part of the vehicle right before I take it into the shop just in case mechanics try to pull something shady
I wish i saw this video last month. I took my car for service and they offered me a 'special first time discount' on cabin filter change($60 to $25) . When i saw what they did, I swear I will make my change next time.
That's actually a pretty fair price for an OEM cabin air filter. They are usually in the $20 range. The guy in the video didn't use an OEM, so, the price is usually lower.

Next time, don't have the dealer do it.
Tires Plus told me I needed a new cabin air filter, when I had just replaced it the day before.
Recommend changing the engine air filter at the same time! Nice job!
Dealers use OEM part, so probably $20 at the window, dealers double the price of parts so probably $40, most dealers labor is $200 an hour.
My dealer wanted 130. 😮
