Ah yes, the classic loud thunk followed by a vibration. First experienced that on Power Tour in 2017, Buddy's drive shaft lost a u-joint cap and it hit the floor followed by sudden massive vibration in the driveline.
Absolutely honored to have a sticker on blasphemi! 🤘🇺🇲

Mike, I think what I find refreshing is how the whole race community steps up to help one of their own. All these guys compete on the track, yet will give the shirt off their backs to help another racer. You can't ask for a better experience than that, no matter the outcome. Thanks for the ride along, please keep 'em coming. You and Tony make a good pair.

Aside from being just good people, there's an element of "I need you at your peak, so I can feel true victory upon beating you!". Beating somebody in a race because they had a mechanical failure is lame. Beating somebody driving a car way under your weight class is also lame (Nobody ever brags about beating a Prius with a Camaro). Beating someone because you were cheating is lame, too.
Beating somebody fair and square in a foot to the wood, all-out knuckle down dragout drag race? Pure awesome. And you can still respect the other guy, whether you were the winner or the loser.
There's a pragmatic reason for it, aside from just being good people.

Optimism comes from years of overcoming problems. It's earned by studying all aspects of drag racing, engines, welding, tuning. With pro shops at your back and a little bread in your pocket, great things are possible. Guys invented cars before computers were even invented. Before people had electric lights. Finnegan is spiritually from that era.

"Just keep fixing it until things go our way" - Mike Finnegan 2022. Truer words have not been heard from a car guy by me in a while. Its the nature of the beast and Ide say we all live by these words of wisdom. Ide like to add that I built a car for the gambler and it has broken 2 years in a row and has now just finally gotten to the point where I think it will survive my thrashing. LS swaps man.. sometimes they work and somtimes they kick you in the nuts.

Lessons learned. It happens to everyone. Don’t quit and love what you work on. Next year ought to be an effort to make it right. Tony deserves some good footage driving the car for all the work he has done.

Man I get mad when my battery is dead. U and Tony fix wheels rebuild a huge engine and repair a driveline in a week and laugh and smile ( most of the time) thru all that. AMAZING. Thanks guys. It proves what GREAT people u are. Have fun can't wait for the next adventure.

I respect the hell out of Mike and Tonyit takes a mental toll dealing with all of the ups and downs that this hobby comes with, and their outlook towards it all is pretty damn humbling. Keep up the looking at the bright side of things at all times man, it’s something for others to look up to.

7:20 -- The deadliest thing of all... exuberant bully dog kisses! Sweet girl. 😄
BTW, had the same "if it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all" thought upon seeing the video title. Props to you and the crew for keeping at it and still having as great a time as possible! 👍

Wow. In the end, All that hard work was for the kids. Absolutely perfect. Congrats Mike. Maybe that used rear end should be checked out. You know, if you loose a u-joint like that, at any speed, it can take out Pinion bearings as well as Tailshaft bearings,, or both in one go. A HUGE ignorant off balance driveline can wreak full broken-parts chaos in seconds, milliseconds. Take it to a shop and have it spun as fast as they can spin it for balancing,,make sure it's still straight. A possible sign from Mother Nature, or a warning/handslap from Blasphemi to never, ever, leave her alone for that long again. Thanks for the journey Boys. Get home safe.
