  • After a few years of making minor updates to the popular Glycerin, Brooks has overhauled the midsole of the Glycerin 20, bringing in the nitrogen-infused DNA Loft V3 foam first seen in the Brooks Aurora-BL last year.
How has this update changed the shoe? Run Testers Tom, Mike and Nick have been putting the miles in with the Brooks Glycerin 20 and deliver their verdict in this video, comparing it to other popular cushioned options like the New Balance More v3, Puma Magnify Nitro and Nike Invincible.

70 yr. old man that walks around 30 miles a week on the street. I've had Morton's neuroma on both feet and have a hammer toe on the toe next to my baby toe on both feet. I've tried 4 different Brooks shoes the last being the Ghost 14. Liked all of them. The Glycerin 20 is now my forever shoe. The Glycerin 20 is the best most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.

57yo 105kg man with knees to match. TRT review persuaded me to try the Glycerin 20's.
Great call. Super comfy, easy running, knees feel good, still low miles but loving these shoes.
£85 from "Start Fitness" with an extra 10% discount.
Thank you to the TRT team (especially Nick H-F).

Thanks for the review. On your recommendation I picked up a pair of the 19s in a sale and other than the dad vibe I love them for my easy day runs. Super comfortable, and the midsole just absorbs impact without really feeling overly soft/squishy. Personally I’d like a style update but I know there are plenty of people who want the Brooks look and don’t have many places to go for it so I can live with it.

Great review. I've just a pair but the GTS version so even more weight with the guiderails added. I certainly think Brooks could loose some weight on those by taking the unnecessary extra 'slash' marks off.

I found them to be comfortable for standing in but terrible for running... wobbly squishy and unstable, a bit like running on a rubbery balloon. I very quickly developed knee pain so switched back to my pegasus 40s.

Managed to get my hands on the Stealthfit version in a UK 8.5 with 10% off your first order promo. Weighs 284g, roomier than most knit uppers I’ve tried. Foam is very bouncy but not as compressive as I was expecting. Though I’d caveat my comments in that I’ve only run in these on very tired legs. I bought these as an easy day shoe as my Saucony Triumph finally bottomed out after more than 500 miles and the Triumph 20 isn’t out until August. Overall I’d say that they are a decent shoe and I like the Stealthfit much more than the Triumph upper but in terms of the foam I prefer the PWRRun+ for easy days. There’s too much overlap with the Novablast 2 for me which is easily the superior shoe.

Wish Brooks would take a chance on changing their designs… they seem to have a decent foam, but the designs look/feel outdated. Probably take a page out of Asics's playbook? Asics somehow managed to shed that old dad shoe vibe with their designs.🤔🤞🏻🙏🏼🙏🏼

Tried those on in store today, and seemed like length wise fine but the sides taper in at the toe to extent I felt like my big toe was almost overhanging the sole a little, anyone else notice this - is this fine/ typical for the shoe..? Just concerned could get blister on sides - but wouldn’t say my foot was wide. Any observations of owners would be so helpful! Thanks!

I have to say and as a runner with an initial marathon finish in 1984 and a shoe selection back then between 'red' or 'blue', that these reviews are getting a little too technical and fussy for me. So much attention now on 'responsiveness', 'liveliness', 'breathability' and the odd 'hot spots', whatever fancy terms are now being used in reviews like these. My advice: Focus more on your runs and your mental attitude, buy whatever you can afford and stick with your shoes for around a 1,000 kilometres or so. No need to abandon running shoes after 300 kilometres and to rotate through 5 different pairs for bespoke workout sessions, unless of course you have unlimited funds and running shoes are your overriding obsession.

    • @FoxBox72

You may be right, but people who enjoy "shoetube" videos tend to have funds and an overriding obsession with running shoes.

"Evolution". It's a fantastic concept that allows us to be better. If we all stuck to your attitude of "it was better in the old days" we would cease to improve
Thankfully nobody listens to your opinion and we keep evolving. Keep on running in your red and blues ones though if that works 😅

My mother was a runner in the 80s and she’s very grateful I have more options than she did. I inherited her biomechanical issues, foot shape and plantar fasciitis. So those “fussy” wide range of options are what make it possible for me to keep running well into my 30s without painful injuries, where she had to quit running and take up swimming.

I picked them up from Sport Pursuit a few weeks ago. Seems a great price for a shoe that would be good for me having started running this year.
I’ve used them for walking, long runs and interval runs. Really happy with them. I’ve also done a lot of running on trails and footpaths here in the uk. Took a little bit for me to adjust to the height as my old shoe didn’t have nearly as much so it felt like I was going to roll my ankles on tree roots. Ive adjusted to them now though and they’ve been fine off-road even if that’s not their intended use.
