So the artifact doesn't just get snow lands. It also gets you snow creatures, snow enchantments and etc. I notice that but when this was release I don't think alit of snow enchantments and creatures were spoiled so the back is slightly better as more of those have been spoiled.
"Unless there's a crazy combo" Well, not crazy, but Draugr Necromancer can exile all your opponents creatures after you wipe the board, and they have ice counters on them. I don't know if the ice counters go away, but if you have the Staff out and wrath the creatures, you can then tap it to bring Necromancer back and you have access to all those creatures. If the Ice Counters stay, having a Rimefeather Owl means they're all Snow Permanents, which means they'll untap if you bounce the staff to your hand and then attack with Jorn, giving you pseudo vigilance. It's probably not as effective, but it's flavorful and makes use of other snow creatures, so I enjoy it.

I know this channel is EDH-focused, but all I can think about is that in Standard, you can technically have both sides out at once, and they were seemingly designed to combo with each other.
I think he synergizes A LOT with his own artifact. And you may ask "Yeah, but what do we care, we are not Standard". Well... Maybe we could be a bit like them! Just run some clones! You clone Jorn, sacrifice the original to the legendary rule, and then cast the artifact from the command zone! That may lead to a great interaction between the artifact and himself, you tap the artifact to play something from your graveyard and said thing will enter tapped, the you swing with Jorn and in the next mainphase you will get another activation of the artifact AND ALSO, the first thing you casted from your graveyard now will be untapped. Of course, if they destroy the artifact, your commander would cost 4 more the next time, but I think is worth it! However, if they kill the clone... Well, that may be worse! You would be stuck with just the artifact and probably won't be able to have your commander available soon
Can y’all recommend some more snow cards to buy for this commander? I’m not too much of a deckbuilder myself and scared of cheap snow cards raising in price and them not fitting in a budget deck anymore.
Does the Horizon Stone or Kruphix keep the Mana in your pool over turns? Or Just for my own steps and phases? So can i pass the turn and still keep the mana?
How many bloomin' gods are in this set!?! I'm quite intrested in this chap; he doesn't feel overpowered for my group like the green tree-god and covers three great colours for snow permanents, which I'm a massive fan of.
Some sorta Price of Progress for Snow Permanents would be cool, Sudden Avalanche. Or they could do some sorta play on winter orb that only effects snow lands and give it a dumb name like Arctic Orb.
Mitch, I don't often play critic to you, but I gotta be for 1 point. You dismiss the second side, the rimestaff, as just graveyard combo and I think that's underselling it. I agree the staff side is not good as the focus, but once you start going off with the creature side expect boardwipes and kill spells galore. I think this is where the staff shines, getting you to recur valuable spells and creatures. Is it the most effective or powerful? No. But, its not only an option but also if you get behind it may get you that valuable spell at just the right second to get back in the game. I'm not saying the rimestaff is amazing but I really don't think its just a graveyard combo card
@@cippowasd I see where he was going for, and it does actually synergize pretty well with Najeela. This god unwraps all of your snow permanents (including lands) every time it attacks. Najeela has WUBRG: untap all your attacking creatures, they gain a bunch of keywords, and you get another combat phase after this one. So, if you can produce WUBRG from 5 of your Snow Lands (either Duals or Basics) then suddenly it just goes infinite with Najeela for infinite combats. ok i has a question as im just getting back in to Magic and havent seen cards like this (2 sided different colors) is this commander a green a Blk blue or is it a G. B. B.?
I feel like white and red should get some good snow hate cards since both fire and light can melt snow and good snow hate cards should also have other uses in case there aren't any snow cards.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the nickname he's been dubbed with: Jorn Snow. I doubt they'll print an effective or good hate card for standard, let alone EDH.
I wonder if i can make Sultai X cost tribal deck with this i can just save up the mana with horizon stone and kruphix and this guy restands the snow mana tap it next turn do a massive x cost payment.
how does this card actually work as a commander especially regarding the commander tax. does it count as Jorn when you play kaldring or is kaldring a card on its own? do you have to pay two more the next time you want to play kaldring if it was removed from the play?
From my understanding from previous Commander Quarters videos, it is still counted as one card, regardless of which side you cast from the command zone. As such, the commander tax affects both sides. Cast the artifact and it goes away? The god now costs 2 more as well.
There are in fact a few anti-snow land tech cards already in existence that are better than those two cards. It's just hard to justify running them in an open casual meta where they are so narrow they are basically dead cards most games unless your entire group runs snow lands all the time for no reason. Feyalise's Radiance (rough cumulative upkeep but it completely shuts down all snow permanents while in play and acts like a Stasis for people playing Snow) Winter's Night (technically this is mana neutral to snow lands, but it's highly disruptive) Avalanche (mana intensive, but one-sided land destruction for only snow lands)
There’s literally no time when I don’t want to see this card in a Sultai snow deck. Having said that he does a lot of good things but aside from snow he doesn’t make you play any particular type of deck
The problem with Snow lands is that they are Basic. They should not be. They SHOULD have a rule printed which allows you to have as many as you want in your deck, to make them function in a very similar way to Basic lands, but "Snow" should be a supertype of lands and nothing more. No fetching, no scooting under the radar, all Snow lands should be errata'd to be nonbasic-but-unlimited.
snow hate needs to be like back to basics level power cause all eternal formats you now have to run snow basics if you want to run optimally. Ideally colourless so all decks can run it and it punishes snow and thaws the frost that is settled over the eternal formats
I love that Wizards prints a very good on attack trigger and does not only not give it to Boros but gives it to the 3 color combination that excludes red and white.

I feel like white and red should get some good snow hate cards since both fire and light can melt snow and good snow hate cards should also have other uses in case there aren't any snow cards.
Are snow lands basic? Can you fetch them?
this is like a better sword of Feast and Famine
Talk about a grind. Good job Mitch keep up the vids, there super helpful even if you don’t do deck techs
what card is the artwork in the background from?
I'm surprised you didn't mention the nickname he's been dubbed with: Jorn Snow.
I doubt they'll print an effective or good hate card for standard, let alone EDH.
Love the frost
My bell notifications can literally not keep up with you that's why i'm late.
So much Mitch. So much good.
I wonder if i can make Sultai X cost tribal deck with this i can just save up the mana with horizon stone and kruphix and this guy restands the snow mana tap it next turn do a massive x cost payment.
Im just trying to figure out which god this is based off of cause skadi and ullr have bows not staffs
how does this card actually work as a commander especially regarding the commander tax.
does it count as Jorn when you play kaldring or is kaldring a card on its own?
do you have to pay two more the next time you want to play kaldring if it was removed from the play?
From my understanding from previous Commander Quarters videos, it is still counted as one card, regardless of which side you cast from the command zone. As such, the commander tax affects both sides. Cast the artifact and it goes away? The god now costs 2 more as well.
@@Th3D3vilishBoy good to know thanks a bunch 😁
Looking forward to Snow Moon
Fog effects will be huge with this commander.
Can you make and buy a custom deck from your site and get a code with it to use it online in mtg arena?
Wizards is like you know which color needs for op cards, Green!
Would this work great in najeela? 🤔
Isn't there a red enchantment that's basically symmetrical vorinclex for snow lands?
Found it:
Winter's night
And it's Naya
How many cups of coffee have you consumed so far,?
Still just the two so far!
There are in fact a few anti-snow land tech cards already in existence that are better than those two cards. It's just hard to justify running them in an open casual meta where they are so narrow they are basically dead cards most games unless your entire group runs snow lands all the time for no reason.
Feyalise's Radiance (rough cumulative upkeep but it completely shuts down all snow permanents while in play and acts like a Stasis for people playing Snow)
Winter's Night (technically this is mana neutral to snow lands, but it's highly disruptive)
Avalanche (mana intensive, but one-sided land destruction for only snow lands)
Can you make and buy a custom deck on your site and get a code with it to play on mtg arena?
Upwelling is a great substitute to kryphix
This is a Sultai deck right?
Land destruction always sucks. Really hoping there isn’t a snow hate for lands in this set.
Jorn is the first card that has made me want to play green in EDH
What a commander I’m genuinely excited for this guy he’s so cool
Edit: I didn’t realize the pun I made at first lol
I'm noob in EDH will this be able to be played in Mono Green if you will not play the artifact side?
Nope, it's a Sultai card.
@@MichaelJohnMAGA oh ok thanks :(
