    Just so you know these girls are awesome and are all pacific island girls! They are proud to be representing all their different island cultures. It's a shame that we have negative people in this world that have nothing better to do but shut others down! Well done girls, keep your chins up and keep smiling!

    To all the negatives comments on this video, just appreciate the dance. The dance ws not part of the comp, it was just a performance.

    my take of it is, this dance isn't meant to be just cook island.. it looks like a fusion of cook island, tahitian, hawaii'an, samoan, tongan and even a bit of maori.. (when the man dance with the spear type footwork.. at least that's what it reminded me of) an the dancers are probably all a bit of something polynesian.. maybe they should not have called it a cook island name so you weren't expecting them to all be cook islander.

    Don't take this the wrong way the uniforms were really inappropriate and disrespectful especially for us Polynesian, come on now I thought this was supposed to be Miss Samoa Pageant. I know they have the talent but respect is very important in our Samoan culture....

      hey! this reply is so freaking late, but i'm new to learning about the polynesian culture (i do tahitian dancing at my school), and do you mind explaining to me how to costumes were disrespectful? i'm just curious as to what was wrong with them so i can avoid using those in future dances

    • @Dazzzz4

      How is it disrespectful to polynesians, you know samoa isn't the only polyneisan country right 😂

      Paea Lakei-Hughes The first song is from the show "Ulalena" in Maui, Hawaii. The song is called "Ocean: Breath of Life", but this is a remake or something because the singer and instruments are different. Ulalena is now on iTunes. It didn't used to be! So enjoy! The majority of the CD is just as good, or better than this one song.

    Te Ariki Vaine? That is NOT a samoan name! It is a Cook Island(Rarotongan) name!

  • @vaipo33
    @vaipo33 9 лет назад +6

    What i don't understand is why are they doing a cook island segment for Miss samoa, you don't see Cook island girls doing a samoan segment in their shows ever. As for the boob thing, I'm a cook islander and we don't show off that much boob, even though we dance in coconut bras, its pretty much all in there. and then to do samoan dance in that get up is disrespectful. don't be commercial be a traditionalist and stick to what makes samoa beautiful.

    Omg.... Who designed their dance costumes? It's the ugliest and tackiest I have ever seen except for the head piece. If you were going for a modern look with the corset style top.... EPIC FAIL!!!!

    they dont know how to dance in samoa i think why did they do it why why there to meany wite peope and no samoa i think thats sad to samoa people who wont to see other people dance and i think alot of samoa people can dance better and they did the same song as aranui school

    so bits of this was ok but bits of it no, no, no. The worst is Aloha oe, which is Hawaiian for goodbye and they're doing Samoan movements, then tahitian!, gummon do your homework. As for the costume, feel sorry for the 2 larger girls who keep hitching their tops up. Sorry ladies was a thumbs down for me.
