    I was medically retired due to ill health, which I put down to the stress of dealing with a difficult public, and unrelenting traffic that just constantly wants to get in front of the bus. They even overtake you then make a right turn, just thoughtless selfishness on the part of ordinary car drivers.
    My advice to you if you want to preserve your health is to look for something else.
    Remember, life is short, and you're a long time dead! Pete

    I personally find Addison Lee drivers among the worst on the roads. I hate saying such a sweeping statement - I'm sure there are a few who are good. Every time I'm a passenger I wince at their manoeuvres and every time I'm on my bike I can guess if the car's an Addison Lee car by it's driving style. Truly awful.

    They do indeed have forward facing camera's, but sadly these are not used to fine people for parking offences. There was a scheme back in the 90s that 'allegedly' did this, but not so these days. However, TfL do have mega powerful cctv across London and fines are issued via this system.

    Indeed I have, the most recent a couple of years ago when a woman pulled out of a side road without looking. My premium the following year was £10 less. Non fault accidents should not affect your insurance, if it does, then you're with the wrong insurer!

  • @z00h
    @z00h 10 лет назад +1

    Out of curiosity, is your bus driver insurance linked in any way with your own car insurance? I always wondered how that works, especially when, as you say, the risk is much greater and it's hard to avoid having knocks every now and then.

    • @jonwhite4250
      @jonwhite4250 2 года назад

      It puts your car insurance up as soon as you change your job to anything that puts you on the road longer, as the law of averages says you’re more likely to have an accident. Also if you have an accident of any kind in any vehicle, you should inform your insurer

    Please tell me this got sent to Addison Lee's bosses? I'm a bus driver in Edinburgh and this sort of behaviour from car, van, and taxi drivers alike winds me up on an almost daily basis. Sadly there isn't a great deal that can be done to stop them doing it other than following dangerously close to the vehicle infront so as to not create a gap, and thats obviously not an ideal thing to be doing especially with passengers on board.

    Why does Addison Lee think he has the right to park in a bus stop

  • @BristolRE
    @BristolRE  10 лет назад

    No, bus driver insurance is paid for by your employer and simply covers all employees with the proper licence to drive any bus owned or hired by the employer. Bus companies rarely claim on the insurance, generally all damage up to around half the cost of the bus is paid for by the bus company, they only claim for severe damage such as 50k or more, or a total write off.

    Interesting point, actually. Once your name is in a database having been involved in an accident who knows how they use that information. I will say though, that I've been a bus driver for 27 of the past 29 years, and obviously been involved in a few knocks during such a long period, most of which was in London, though most knocks were not my fault, some were, but never did it affect my own car insurance which rarely increased, only allowing for small amounts for inflation.

    The company I work for are shit. They keep us at work for nearly 13 hours a day and then they wonder why most of their drivers are always grumpy and tired. I do my best to not rise to situations. If someone pulls out in front, I just stop and let them go and don't rise to it. As for the passengers, some will try to antagonise me, but I just ignore them and won't even look at them as I can't be bothered. I do what I'm paid to do and that is drive the bus and nothing more.

    It's clear what the van driver has done wrong, the two buses are moving and the Addison Lee driver has forced his way in between the two vehicles, an action likely to cause an accident and clearly his fault had an accident occurred. Having said that, the bus driver should have stayed in his bus, or maybe just hit the van? The cctv on the bus would have absolved the bus driver from all blame.

    Personally, weather Addison lee or a bus driver. Screaming over spilt milk isn't going to make the situation any better. We're all out there doing a job. So we all just have to make the best of both situations. If the bus driver stopped screaming like a little fairy, he doesn't own the bus or the bus lane, just like Addison lee don't own their own cars. We're all out there trying to earn a living. We work for company's not for our selves. And if the company puts a rule out there weather Addison lee or a bus driver we have to abide by it carrying passengers or delivering parcels. Etc etc.

    I've had problems with AL cab drivers - they drive like complete morons.
    Mine overtook me on a country road, I was in my car following a line of vehicles going at around 55mph (we were all sat behind a HGV. The AL pillock flew past me then had to pull in and hit the brakes to avoid oncoming traffic. He then had to sit there for the next 4 miles, constantly up the arse of the car in front, constantly on his brakes. First chance he got, dual carriageway, he blasted it up far beyond the speed limit (I got to 70 & he was still pulling away!). That was my first ever experience of AL & subsequent experiences have been no better.

    Can't see what the van driver has done wrong as he hasn't parked in the bus stop but merely tried to drive around another vehicle. There is no law which states other vehicles are not permitted to drive into bus stops. If the van had pulled up at the bus stop, then fair enough. The bus driver over reacted.
