- The Chinese fast-fashion ecommerce brand Temu has been on a tear streak, eating up its competition by selling products at unbelievably low prices. In this episode of China Unscripted, we look at how Temu came about, why it's so controversial, and how manufacturing is moving out of China.

No Temu spy app on my phone, The secret behind a great day is a great attitude.
Fooooorrrrrrreal though lol the ad to start lol
Same here lol😂
Falun Dafa is a scam
We bought everything from Temu and cheap and nice.
I'm a UPS driver in the UK. When Temu started they were sending a lot of packages with us by the fastest express air service available, presumably to look good with fast delivery. But the cost to do so is high, no way their products could ever justify that cost. Must've cost a small fortune to subsidise it, so I guess the CCP funding covered that. But within a month or so it completely stopped. haven't seen a single Temu package since.
no, is your country that is subsidise it, China is a country in development, so when they send packages to other countries, is the other country that pay
@@r.c.8268speak English
@@r.c.8268They have a 1 trillion dollar trade surplus with the US, so it's not like they don't necessarily have the capability to subsidize it.
@@r.c.8268You mean China pretends to be a country in development that is still eligible for the subsidies but actually isn't.
It was successful use of marketing budget, EVERY big US retail chain does this and drives down small business. And Chinese have no other option but to ASK for the same "privilege" as European farmers have, to have their produce aggressively underpriced. But for Chinese labor farms, it's an upwards trajectory while in Europe it's a road to EQUAL poverty with places like Niger, downward.
Pretty sure billionaires don't piss away their money on useless inferior goods. That is why they are billionaires.
Your funny because you have to say these lies or be persecuted! 😂😂is @SUPERPOWERCHINA_
Investing in wise purchases is more like how to remain a billionaire, not why one is a billionaire. 😊
Temu is shopping like a billionaire. What you do is buy 10,000 cheap piece of shit ear buds at $1.67 apiece. Then you make some fraudulent marketing material and advertise them as quality earbuds for $20. Boom profit.
What's wrong with shopping like a billionaire 😅! Literally when I clicked this vid I had to watch a TEMU ad first.
Me too 😂😂
Yeah, same.. it's right under this video

You should check out practises in China like: painting food to make it look more expensive, refilling containers with inferior product, putting wood chips in ground meat and so much more.
Don't forget adding lead to exported food products...
"Wood chips" is actually cellulose, which domestic Taco Bell chains have been adding to the meat. Not just a China problem.
I did,wit until the health problems show up😂
@@Serious-ManTbell uses Soy in their meat, are you thinking Kraft Parm Cheese?
@@Serious-Man No China was putting SAWDUST not cellulose in their ground meats.
Temu is like open air markets selling stolen goods in the US because large cities don't prosecute theft.
👍
That's literally Fair Use, and adsense plus google. Their IP theft is EXPLICITLY made selectively legal, after US-led copyright law made it ILLEGAL and functionally illegal to do WORK in USA. Because NOBODY is buying anything at the prices that safety regulations NEED.
Almost all large cities are ran by leftists
Chicago really is a third world country, huh?
i live in canada and now a stamp costs over a dollar! I will gladly join any petitionners that request we retire china of the "in dev" country list so they stop getting our money to export.
I remember when I started seeing those ads on YT for Temu, my first thought was the old saying "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is." Those prices were extremely low, it was either a legit close-out company that bought bankrupt companies' inventories for cheap then resold the stuff, or a total scam.
It's a scam. I watch a boot channel that cuts in half boots from every company and rates them on build and materials. Temu boots aren't worth wearing even if they're free. It's the biggest pos cost cutting products you'll ever see.
@dontcare7086 Rather than a scam it's really cheap products at a really cheap price. How is that a scam? If you are buying no name products for pennies and expecting quality...you have problems.
Ts a way for factories take all their leftover parts, hammer out whatever the can u of it, and get rid of it with the goal of just making back material costs and shipping. Most of the products are factory directs. They don't even have proper brands.
@@dontcare7086 I've seen that channel, fascinating stuff. Some of the high end expensive stuff is garbage too. People like that are doing an awesome service for consumers.
Or products made by slave labor
It's a total scam
Government subsidy aside, two major contributors to extremely low cost product are quality of input materials and insanely low labor cost. Customers of Temu should know that wearing something next to your skin with questionable materials is similar to eating toxic food. Secondly, are these products pushed by Temu remotely made with some basic ethical standard? If you can buy something that are only 20% to 30% of commonly charged, then the chance is that you are buying something toxic and it's produced in sweat shops
Of course they have ethical standards. Slave laborers are not allowed to work more than 24 hours a day. After 6 days of that a day of rest is required. Very ethical.
...and you partially financing Russia's war on Ukraine which also is trafficking kidnapped Ukrainian kids.
I've seen far too often what happens to Billionaires in China, far too often they're "disappeared". I don't shop on Temu or Ali BaBa, like Chris, I like my coffee black. It matches my mood towards the actions of the CCP. Great video! Thanks for sharing. 👍❤️💪
Yeah, out of the millions of Chinese people selling stuff on Temu, most of them aren't ccp. Most of em are just trying to make a living and feed their families.
RUclips loves China and Temu I’m surprised they let these 3 live
amazon recently decided to put ads on their tv shows and movies and then give us a new pay wall to not have ads or movies on our amazon. i would not be surprised if amazon also sells our data.
Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram...they all do this!
Isn't it time the ww chinese subsidized postage came to an end being they are a super power?
I thought TEMU's prices were too good to be true. But just to test it out, I made one purchase, got 2 items for less than a dollar each. Fast forward a year, I found what I bought on a small business' website for 25x the price.
TEMU is either selling the flawed products at discount, or taking full advantage of China's copyright policy "what's yours is mine now"
Your home address and tacker cookies in your browser are worth more to them than the cost of those items.
State subsidiary for industrial output. Add in Xinjiang Provence and the uighar slave population and you have a monopoly on price control to cause economic loss on legit businesses.
Essentially forcing the market to not be able to compete and shut down. Now you can increase prices and supply.
Or it's possible that the small business just found the item as a white label product and contracted to have their branding put on and have marked it up 25x. Do you think when Google gives out google umbrellas at trade shows or when influencers start selling merch like mugs and screwdrivers that they've stood up factories and hired designers to do low production runs of knick-knacks? No, they go to umbrella/mug/screwdriver suppliers/factories, ask what do you have and say I'll take 5000 if you make that part red and put our logo on it.
In other words, 'Capitalism'... Driving out Mom and Pop's has been a corporate wet dream since before the railroad barons. Fights against monopolies are 150 years old already... And no real end in site. Just buy another politician and set some more laws to your advantage... @@dr.floridaman4805
@@xungnham1388Why try to explain it to them? These people are morons. It's impossible for them to understand temu is just a factory direct seller.
Temu advertising is relentless. Unfortunately Temu product lifetime is nonexistent.
Not to mention the horrendous damage on the environment and bulging landfills when these products break after you use it for the first time.
hahahahahahahahha quit the lies bot you arent a super power go away@@SUPERPOWERCHINA_
Not defending Temu, but it's the same with big companies of richer countries. I had bought a Nokia chair. Though it advertised as having "10 yeah warranty", when its rollers spontaneously began to break and I contacted Nokia Korea, the agent said that they have no spare rollers. I tried to buy replacement rollers, but it seemed that Nokia are using non-standard proprietary rollers. The roller I purchased from AliExpress did not fit. Now the whole chair is going to landfill. The same for the hotplate from SK (the same SK who make SK Hynix RAM). They don't sell parts, so after one year, when it got broken, I had to throw it away. So this time, I just bought a no-brand Chinese hotplate.
@@typingcat You didn't fix it yourself with a proprietary Phillips head screwdriver? Welp, I guess there was no helping it. We just need to follow a GLOBAL mandatory standard of roller enforced by.... who? Oh yeah, supernational organizations operating even above capitalism. Well, start funding them out of more of your taxes like all the rest. Office chair standardization like USB and HDMI, that's a good use of secure jobs in the "non-profit" space.
@@typingcat well your first problem is trusting nokia made outside of the scandanavian area. They didn't get their meme status from manufacturing outside of there. Also if you bought a chair made in the US from the 50s you wouldn't have had that problem. The modern problems are because of that Chinese influence.
@@typingcat Temu is a million times worse, my flatmate got about 3 packages to give to his family on christmas. I was there when he opened them and it is total garbage literally straight in the garbage for 95%of it and the other 5% will be there in a few weeks, most of it was just things nobody would ever want or use. They are literally sending hundreds or thousands of tonnes of plastic cr@p made from oil that will go straight into our landfill.
What isnt a chinese scam these days?
The crab Rangoon at my local Chinese food restaurant.
Joe Biden's administration? 🤷♂️
Whatever scams Facebook, Amazon, WalMart, and every Corporation in America hadn't gotten around to yet...
Chinese scams?
Honour?
I gave them a chance. They tried to deliver my packages to the Post Office Box at 2AM, (non-post office hours, commercial site)...then said I was unavailable and shipped it back immediately. Who does that? Who expects to deliver anything at 2AM?
Who orders Temu?
Is Temu in charge of the delivery to the post box? I mean, was it Fedex, UPS...I don't think Temu is in charge of their own delivery.
The pessimist sees the glass half empty while the optimist sees the glass as half full. But the realist knows that soon there will be another glass to wash. It's more important to understand reality than to feel good.
An optimist says we can fly and builds an airplane
A pessimist designs a parachute
The world needs all three, cause a realist says man cannot fly, and when proven wrong they develope new science, new math equations
As soon as I saw Temu’s ads, my immediate thought was: “What is the CCP’s attack angle this time?”
Same here. Download their App, and they own you.
Yes, surely selling your soul by using a store platform that let's you buy factory direct goods. I've lived in China. Nobody there gives a shit about you in the USA. Selling you stuff is pretty much as far as their thought process goes.
Aside from the annoyance of their ad coming up when I opened up the video on my phone because I was watching it on my fire stick the fact that this company is everything you're saying it is and probably more amazes me that it really needs to be said if people haven't learned to figure these things out by now we are so doomed. Because this is just the tip of the iceberg this is what we're seeing because it's being thrown in our face there is so much more coming down the road and watching this channel has alerted My Mind to what I've known since I was a child about China and I'm 63. None of this is new
As long as I have lived here in this country which has been all my life it never ceases to amaze me how selfish self-serving and greedy not only companies can be but the people that decide to support them by purchasing some of the crappiest products known to man and should be easily recognizable as so by the mere fact of the amount of advertising that's being done for them
i can get you NOTHING for free. As much as you want. Send money.
My grandparents neighbour is constantly buying stuff on Temu and recently she’s been going on about the “Tibetan silver” she’s been getting. Turns out that “Tibetan silver” is usually just iron with a potentially toxic coating of lead and arsenic
I automatically boycott companies that oversaturate the market with ads
You do make the world a lil better by providing information. Knowledge is power. So God bless u
You guys are hilarious. Please do more episodes where it's just you three talking. Is like watching a comedy special where all the jokes are at the CCP's expense!
5/5, would watch again.
oh no I am a ccp I am not happy
I use TEMU all the time and have no issues this far ( of course I’m not an idiot who thinks they are going to get high quality stuff for next to nothing )
You buy cheap products so China can steal your data. What could possibly go wrong? "But don't worry, I'm not an idiot"

A good way to convince people is quite adding 500% to the price just for brand names. Sell it reasonably.
I couldn't agree with you more! Living on SS doesn't give me a lot of leeway in my budget to buy items with exaggerated markups, Nike sneakers I wanted in the worst way were 290 same look and style on Temu for 29.00! I've been wearing them for 8 months and they are still in perfect shape!
When we asked were told TEMU world headquarters are in Boston Mass. The general public ignores the blatant lies about TIK TOK & TEMU being based in USA as US companies.
Tik tok is fine, at least they pay musicians and content creators a decent wage. Spotify, youtube, twitch etc make billions on ad revenue but pay artists crap.
The video opened with a temu ad and still has a link right under the play window XD
Fallout's Pre-Atomic lore warned me of what was happening now. The New Plague in our reality isn't just viruses, but Tik-Tok, and Temu.

if its worth anything this past year was one of the biggest for influencers realizing the depth of scams that were taking advantage of them and making exposing /informative content on it that at least affected things slightly. from Shein , to Betterhelp, to the final collapse of that weird "become a lord/lady " scam . that self awareness might just make it more likely that people start getting more informed on a mass level of the dangers of shady companies that they were passive on.
I purchased a Nooro knee massager for my mom and when it was delivered, its delivery confirmation mentioned itself as Temu. My mom couldn't order it though her card, so I ordered it my account taking that risk.
I work for UPS, and it feels right now with the holiday drop in volume, Without TEMU, UPS would go bankrupt for the amount we started getting after that ad. It so darn annoying.
And them an ad before and after from temu
Many nations, previously deeply engaged with the CCP economically, are increasingly witnessing organizations and governments rejecting the yoke of economic sanctions and threats imposed by the CCP after defiance. They're choosing to advocate for themselves. Lithuania serves as a prime example, demonstrating to the world that breaking free from the CCP's clutches doesn't mean losing a vast market but rather gaining more opportunities for equitable collaboration (and it's worth noting that much of the revenue they generate doesn't directly enhance the living standards of the Chinese populace). Just over a year ago, Lithuania refused to bow to the CCP's dictates regarding Taiwan, resulting in a barrage of pressures and economic sanctions from Beijing. Yet, with NATO's recent summit in Lithuania this August, they've reported an impressive 45% economic growth amidst a year and a half of Chinese sanctions.
As a Taiwanese, along with my fellow citizens, we're diligently working to expose the CCP's true nature to the world. We must maintain hope and not just be optimistic but also proactive. The ability to debate various perspectives is the essence and value of democratic freedom. On the other side, the situation in China is such that even news of earthquake disasters can be abruptly censored, reflecting the grim reality of Chinese society. The loss of democratic freedom doesn't manifest immediately but gradually, until it's too late for regret.
As we enter 2024, our commitment to fighting for democracy and freedom remains unwavering!
Cheers

Temu is a scam, it is also malware
Ok, so either I order from amazon or other online retailer getting the same stuff from China, or I buy some little things from Temu, also from China. Are we all fooling ourselves? In this economy, money talks and BS walks, like overpriced items. Quality from Temu is btw varying from highly questionable to good.
What makes this funny is that I saw a TEMU add on the last China Uncensored episode.
Do you know which word has the same letters as TEMU?

CCP's long-term planning has led us to our current situation. To escape their control and economic coercion, we must also adopt long-term planning. Purchasing made in China (RPC) goods indirectly supports CCP's global expansion. Although the immediate impact may not be apparent, over time we can undo CCP's influence. This is vital for the well-being of future generations
I would pay for these 3 great people to be talking Futurama heads.
I purchased electronic alligator jumper wires from an US seller on ebay for $12 with shipping. Arrived in a week. Later, knowing I could use more purchased some from TEMU. 2.98. Free shipping. Took an amazingly short 2 weeks. Usually. my purchases from China via ebay takes over a month. When they arrived (I purchased other little things), the package looked familiar. I compared it with the clips I purchased from the US seller. The plastic bag ure looked the same. Compared the wires and clips themselves. Same oily slimy texture. When you squeeze the clips, they would spin inside their covering, Lengths and color assortment same. Could be coincidence. But sure appears to be "Buy low. Sell High" to me. The America way. Hoorah.
