Biggest issue with time travel is the fact that Earth won't be in the same place as when you traveled from, and never will be. A time machine needs to also be able to go to other points in space as well
That would make for a terrible Back to the Future movie. The first trip when doc sends Einstein into the future he'd end up in space and the movie is over... XD
Exactly! That's what people seem to forget!!
@@dommidavros2211 The problem is that people think time is a physical force, time is an observers construct. Time is what we need to understand change in position and spin. In theory you could travel time, which would be rearange all quarks and neutrions at a certain position again.
That's why you need to change the exact date to the 365 days of that but in the past.

Killing Hitler wouldn't erase you want to kill him, because you simply created a new Hitlerless timeline which is of course different from the one you came from.
I think thats only if multiverse theory is the rule when time traveling
@@Wheodore It's the most logic thing. Or are you living in a universe in which you killed Hitler? No since he lived. You travelling back changed that already swithed the timeline.
But you simply walking the streets of 1890 Austria going to kill hitler would create a branched reality. Ur suggestion depends on what you believe. Do u breve that there is one single main timeline that branches out like a tree with unexpected events like going back on the main timeline. Or do u believe that there is an infinite amount of parrallel universes and realities with all the choices and events that could happen? If you believe in the first then if, assuming we live on the main timeline, you going back would mean that you would also have to erase everything before the time you arrive at your destination as a main timeline can't continue without without all intended outcomes in place but you going back means you aren't where you should be on the timeline which begs the question of how much free wi do we truly have? If you belive in the second theory then does going back and killing hitler count as actually going back In time as if to were to travel to another reality and kill hitler, that reality would be at the time of 1890 which would mean your former present becomes your future and your former past is now your present. But because you traveled across a timeline in which you don't exist in 2021 anymore, the future of that timeline is no longer your former present as you don't exist in it.

300 years ago if you told those people you could play and control a virtual world while you talk to someone across the earth, they would also say it is impossible.
As a fellow geek, to solve the paradox of "going back to do something and solving it so you don't go back to solve it in the first place", you would need more than one goal to insure that the paradox doesn't occur on yourself. If time travel ever happens and this is the paradox in place, I would suggest daily "temporal gaps" where one leaves an insignificant goal in time for their future self to travel back to in time to insure that the paradox doesn't occur when they resolve their bigger issue because time would still be occupied with the smaller goal.
About the Grandfather Paradox, we can only hope that time works in this particular way: if you go back to time to kill your grandfather, you are not returning to a previous timeline or creating an alternate dimension, instead the past becomes your future while the original past stays in place. So a replica of the past becomes your future and will affect how your future changes. So your grandfather and you will both be alive, but the death of your grandfather could change the psychological side of yourself. I won't go hay on how psychology works but it will alternate the future drastically instead of changing the past. Think about it like this: instead of history progressing in a line, it is spread out randomly to someone observing time. So the grandfather paradox would change different events in the future in 10, 100 or maybe even 1000 years. But as soon as the grandfather paradox occurs, the change in the future will occur instantaneously whether or not you realize it or not
Everyone is time traveling 1 nanosecond into the future
U mean 1 Planck time unit?
crowntotheundergroud haha was just about to type that nice
No 1nano time
time is irrelevant and infinite, what makes that u dont travel at half a nanosecond ... or 0.0000000001% of a nanosecond?
nanosecond is just a name made by us to define/comprehend time itself.
wich is impossible but we just do it cuz it makes sense for us and because we wanna have 'control' (we wanna define reality as a human species)
Actually We All Are Living In the Past It Takes 13 Nanoseconds For Your Eyes To Capture Everything Around You And 40 Nanoseconds For Your Ears To Hear Something
Or I could be smart and not kill my grandpa

The thing about time travel is that if it _ever_ becomes possible - even if it takes millions of years of different super-geniuses contributing to the project - then it's possible right now and it always has been.
this, i believe time isn't linear. the past, present and future are all happening at the same time and if it is possible then it's already been invented in the future.
Which proves it never will be. As no one ever came back to tell us so. So it has to be unfolding as we go forward. Unless the TVA are wiping out all the attempts to come back from the future and make contact with us
What if Stephen Hawking forgot to unlock his front door?

I always figured you can't kill Hitler or your Grandpa, because they weren't killed in that manner, maybe if went back you would just fail to kill Hitler, regardless of your plan's or preparation.
You could argue the failed assassination attempts such as at the Beer Hall and Stauffenberg where time traveller's who failed to kill him because in this timeline Hitler wasn't killed at those times.
So it's not a proactive thing preventing you from killing him, it's just it never happened that way and can never deviate, so any attempt will fail.
It's an Absolute Point in Time. Prevention of his suicide so the Soviets can have their way with him is a possibility, but like you said no matter what you might do to intervene he'll still kill himself.
So the universe literally rewrites what happens
So, going back in time and preventing disasters like 9/11 or the sinking of MV Sewol would actually cause more harm than good?
@@Loner098 no , it would just lead to the same events that occurred, as it happened as it did in this timeline, it will always occur that way, so anything you do to prevent it will just fail.
It won't make them worse, because you going back in time has 'already' happened, it's just your actions did nothing to prevent that event.
Using this interpretation their is no grandfather paradox, that you can travel back in time with no ill effects, it's like history is read-only. So why Hitler exists in our timeline, is because either Time travel is impossible, or any future would be assassin with time travel capability failed.
Now you could ask well, the assassins only need to be successful once, and you have all foreseeable future for those assassins to come from (i.e in a time travel-enabled reality), I'd argue no matter how many tried, even if they knew all the variables and details, they still must have failed, because Hitler did'nt die as a baby

I MET U AGAIN.
With the Steven Hawking party, we are probably living in the timeline where it doesn’t happen, or no time traveler came because they didn’t want to affect the timeline, like a temporal version of the prime directive.
Nah cuz if we are created that means they already changed the time continuum
Fun fact, Starfleet actually does have a temporal version of the Prime Directive, and it's literally called the Temporal Prime Directive, and it's actually regarded as the singular most important regulation for Starfleet officers to abide by - violating it (assuming such violations can be proven of course, this is still time travel we're talking about) grants far harsher penalties than violating the cultural Prime Directive.
Hell, even without Starfleet regulations, any theoretical time traveler still wouldn't have gone to Hawkings' party so as to not blow their cover or contaminate the timeline by creating a paradox, and that's assuming they not only got the invitation but also deemed it a worthy enough event to attend in the first place. Time travel, if it does eventually become possible, would likely be such a difficult, costly and dangerous process that it would likely only be used to observe major historical events and even then only to record the events to fill in gaps of knowledge.
So yea, Hawkings' experiment was flawed from the beginning.
That or he just isn’t that popular in the future.
Or maybe because there was no bus to drive us here and no invitations were sent
Erik Schiller there you go Star Trek
Another time travel paradox is the assumption that the past still exists. If it does exist then it would be a different universe, meaning there are nearly unlimited identical parallel universes and a new one is created faster than every nanosecond of time that passes.
Well, if you go back in time to just look around without the purpose of changing anything and then travel back to the future, your past self will still have a reason to go back in time, allowing you to travel back in time.
One day, a time traveler will go back in time, and stop George from selling Star Wars to Disney.
A hero
If that happens then a man has truely become, a hero
George didn't write Star Wars he copied it out of the history books we are not allowed to see or even know about.
My first name is Luke, growing up all I heard was, "Luke I am your father." (not even the right quote!)
Yeah fuck star wars.
Messing up the timeline!
How about this to blow your mind? If time travelers were really going back in time a rewriting history, you would never even know it. You only know reality as it is, and that it was always that way. The timeline could essentially be being altered every day by time travelers and you wouldn't even know it. History and your knowledge of it would all change around you instantaneously, without your awareness. For all you know, as of yesterday George Washington was never President, but a time traveler changed the past, therefore changing your past, and now your memories are of learning in school that Washington WAS President.

To go back in time would be to reverse entropy. Which is problematic in itself. But not only would you have to reverse time on Earth you would have to reverse the positions of the stars...which means the entire universe would have to reverse. That would require an amount of energy unimaginable and unavailable.
Plus, the Earth is always moving. So if you travelled back in time then you'd like not even be physically positioned on the planet.

@@The_One_And_Only_PudgyPenguinx lol so brutal
That's why there's a multiuniverse theory.
Every time there is a time paradox, you teleport (or merge) with an already existing universe that'll have the exact outcome of your actions. Which is completely possible, because the theory states there's an infinite amount of universes.
So if you killed your grandfather, he would be dead in this new universe and you wouldn't be born this same new universe, but he would still be alive in your original universe.
Did you watch the whole video?

I think the better way to explain the Novikov self-consistency principle is that you DIDN'T do that thing rather than you COULDN'T. When something in the past happened, it already happened. Therefore, you didn't modify anything in the past if you went back to it and therefore, won't modify anything in the past either.
There's usually a simpler explanation to everything when we're coming up with complex reasons to explain something. And I think in this case, backwards time travel just isn't possible. But it is fun to think about!
Cue the hulk explaining time travel and how you going into the past doesn’t change your past, but rather is just a continuation of your ongoing future.

Some laws the "time travel police" might have:
1. You can only observe anything that happens in the past. Interacting with anything would severely alter the present and future.
2. Once you time travel to a certain point in time, you cannot go back there again. Doing this could accidentally clone yourself. However you can come back a minimum of 1 minute after when you left that point in time.
“Stupid bug! You go ‘SQUISH’ now!”
Even if time travelers came, wouldn’t it just create an alternative timeline/universe?
There is no “present” only past and future. The second you say present before you get done saying it. You are in the future.
No, the word present is in the past.
The word " present " is said and is past but the past is now passed so, the present can be passed in the future if you say it it all the time ?
Now that is what I call looking in vagueness !
Think about time as numbers negative numbers for the past and positive numbers for the future. With that being said, the present is 0 which is nothing. Therefore there is no present.
Using that logic if you time travel to the past, one sec after you arrive it’s the future.
Its pretty much like the Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle when one cant measure the position and velocity of an object at the same time. The world is full of paradoxes. Like the tangent of a circle.
If time travel is possible i would go back at 2019 and i will warn everyone about eating a bat

... and its consequences.
But if you travelled into the future you would be stuck there forever since it's impossible to travel back in time.
MikeAtron 1996 the only way to travel to the future right now is reaching light speed (time dilation)
@@jokesonyou7191 Or you could orbit a black hole for a long period of time and then come back to Earth.
@@jokesonyou7191 You don't need to reach light speed. You just need to travel at a speed close to the speed of light. The closer you get to the speed of light, the further in time you will travel. If you were to travel from point A to point B at light speed (lets assume that's possible), and the distance between A and B was 1 light year, you would travel exactly 1 year into the future relative to everything outside of your frame of reference. The funny thing is that to you, this distance would take exactly 0 seconds since you wouldn't experience any time at the speed of light.
Another fun thought experiment: If you somehow set a circuit and put your ship to travel through it at the speed of light (exactly 100% of it) and if your ship wouldn't be stopped by any force outside of its frame of reference, no matter how soon you would stop that you would have reached the end of time (or the universe) when you do, since even 1 second for you would be infinite time for those outside of your frame of reference.
Bogdan Bulai Something you might enjoy thinking about would be; if wormholes were to exist, you could potentially use time dilation to set one up further behind in time than the one it's linked to, assuming that dimensional space were to agree with such a thing.
Fiddle around with the idea and let me know your thoughts :)

This is the whole plot of Loki, time police, alternate timelines...
That’s what I was thinking
Why am I having a feeling that i already watched this video?
DEJA VU IVE JUST BEEN IN THIS PLACE BEFORE
Deja vu
You smoked too much weed
Maybe i just watched this vid in the future
*I want a Toyota corolla*

Soumyadeep Banerjee corollas suck. Camry ok

welcome to the club, take a number and get a chair, you are gunna be here a loooooooooooooooooong time...
4:21 Holy cow !!!! Did MARVEL get their idea for "LOKI" from this video or Did he go back in time to make this video after watching "LOKI" ?????
"Time Cop." By far the best film Jean Claude Van Damme ever made. A neat time travel flick that confronts the grandfather paradox is the really fun "Time Rider."

Flash: delays the death of his mother by a few seconds - How dare you risk the timeline, the consequences are catastrophic
Legends: try patching aberrations after the death of some locals who might happen to be your ancestors - We just screw time for the better
I was watching this video thinking about The Flash the whole time like the “time police” it’s really just the time wraiths.

Steve always looked like someone who didn't need anyone else to have a good time
Mans just watched Loki and traveled back in time 3 years before and talks about the tva
The party was really cool I got to know Stephen on an emotional level and we ate chicken strips
Ember_ENT Where the chicken strips good? I couldn't come since my totally normal Toyota Corrola and not a time machine was not functioning normal that day...
MaleficSimos they were delicious
Ember_ENT God dangit. I wish I was there. Oh well I'll have to wait for my Corolla to be repaired. Hope to see you there!

“Hitler influenced the birth of everyone on earth”
Sentinelies : am I a joke to u?
Well without Hitler and WWII it's possible Britain never decolonizes and India remains a British colony. Therefore there would be no Indian government to protect North Sentinel Island
u mean the sentenelese?
@@infminus8 same meaning
Every human influences the existence of every other human on earth.
A funny example, if one goes in the past and rings the bell while his/her parents were mating when he/she was actually conceived and in real the bell wasn't rung, then, that person wouldn't be born because that one sperm out of millions which fused to produce him might be a different one this time, just because of the distraction of the bell. This is really funny but really practical
well WW2 killed about 75 million humans. Worldwide. Those 75 millions no longer need a home, no longer need to eat etc... and most importantly no longer procreate and have kids (yes some of them might already had kids, but they won't have an more kids after their death)
So if we increase the population size by 75 millions by the years 1950, it would mean today about half a billion more human on earth (using conservatives number, the real number could easily be much higher). So half a billion more mouth to feed, half a billion more energy user (more car, more heating etc...) requires more farm land and more housing, so less forest etc... So yeah the Sentenelese, might have been invaded anyway because we needed the land for farming, or climate change would be slightly worse and maybe the island would already be underwater? or a weather phenomena would have destroyed it, etc... choose your poison.
Imagine coming up with this paradox just to explain to people why no one from the future bothered to show up at your party...
When he was talking about the time travel police, I only thought TVA from Loki.
