Well if you really want to get technical, the ladder is not at absolute zero, meaning it contains heat, meaning the atoms that made up the ladder are vibrating, hence moving.

No one else noticed that among all those historical pictures the ladder looks slightly different? They are not the same ladder that was there 300 years ago. So it is more a symbol, not a physical thing. Compare 2:01 and 3:07 with 3:26 and 3:59. Nails and steps are different.

This isn't a religious reason, this is just old men of different backgrounds crying over joined ownership. Just have some meetings to discuss your ideas of how to decorate this place and then hire an interior designer for the concept art. This conflict over the church is on the same level of stupidity as my sibling and I fighting over who gets to play Tetris on our shared ownership of a Nokia phone many years ago. It's childish and doesn't do this historic building any justice.

You didn't mention the Church of Abyssinia who have lived and worshiped on the roof since the 1870's.
The reason they are excluded from the inside of the church is because a fire destroyed the documents which gave them the right of free access to the inside of the building.

That's a different ladder to the one shown earlier at 2:00, for example.
The ladder shown @ 4:00 has slats cut vertically into the ladder, whereas the ladder shown @ 2:00 has horizontally cut slats. This is MUCH more apparent when you look at the ladder @ 3:05
The 3:05 ladder is the same as the 2:00 ladder, but very obviously different to the ladder at 4:00

Okay so the pictures show different ladders. I found a testimony online that confirms the ladder was replaced "It’s not the original ladder. The original one was old and crumbly so the groups got together and chipped in for a new ladder and replaced it. And there it stands to this day." so yeah it sounds more like it's kept as a tourist attraction at this point more than any disputed property business.
It just classic humanity that in what's supposed to be the worlds holiest site there was an all out brawl. Beautiful 👌

I've just returned from Jerusalem, and from a tour of the old city which included a tour of the Church of the holy Sepulchre, and a different explanation about this ladder:
My guide told us that prior to a few hundred years ago, the church doors were locked by 6pm and noone could enter or leave the church until morning - clergy included. Supposedly the Armenians occupied the second floor area where the ladder is shown. It was used by the clergy to reach the balcony on which it rests to recieve things via bucket and string from their followers on the courtyard below.
Don't know his explanation more or less correct than that given here, but it's something!

@RealLifeLore - Um... Has anyone looked closely at the images and photos of the ladder? That's NOT the original ladder. I'm guessing it's at least version 2 or 3. Here is what I've spotted in the images in your video:
3:09 - Ladder shown has dado notches cut into the ladder and nails holding the cross members in place with the side rails.
3:27 - ladder shown has cross members nailed to the front of the side rails.
3:58 - Ladder shown has notches cut into the front of the side rails, and the cross members nailed into the notches in the front of the side rails.

Sadly, thus seems to be the case with many members of the church, and leaders. It’s disappointing, and it makes it difficult to find a good church to call home.
It's sad that their disagreements are sending such an important building into a state of decay. I hope they feel bad when the walls start to cave in.
