FYI: the facelifted Highlander has a different engine and gearbox from the pre-facelift models. 2GR-FKS Vs 2GR-FE, and an 8 speed automatic transmission Vs a 6 speed automatic.
The V6 engine is not the only engine available in the Highlander though, there's a 4 cylinder engine (the same one in the 2009-2015 Venza) and a V6 hybrid that uses the 2GR engine with a hybrid battery pack. However, the V6 is the most common choice.

Just needed to add that the engine and transmission for the 2016 - 2018 model was upgraded from the 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 (6-speed auto) to 2GR-FKS V6 (8-speed auto) which is also used in 4th generation (2019 - 2022). So this generation comes in 2 different engines and transmissions with the latter having better fuel economy. I noticed it when I first bought the 2018 model in 2020 and now my wife now drives the 2021 model (4th gen). They both share the same engine and transmission. Keep up the good work guys. Nigerians are getting better informed👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The AWD of this car is crazy expensive.....the build quality screams low quality so much plastic ,willl start squeaking soon ....but it remind me of dodge SUV from the rear

For the price tag of 27-32 isn’t it better getting a 2013 rx350 ? You’ll still have some money left along with Toyota’s reliability but Lexus luxury ?
In the real sense of it, a Ford explorer of same age is more of a luxury car than a highlander. Wish you could do a match up with the two.
Problem is mechanics in Nigeria can't fix ford easily.. they don't have the knowledge and parts are crazy.
Reliability and resale value are the reason nobody will pick a Ford Explorer over the Highlander.
