I always knew I would see Ryan trimming his grass with scissors one day 😊 Congratulations! This is quite an accomplishment.
You should be so proud of how far the new home and lawn has come! I was just thinking about how much work I've put into my home and lawn before watching this. Most days I always want more, and I hardly ever think back to what things use to look like. It's nice to take a moment every now and then to see how far everything has come. I cannot wait to one day own a home with acres of lawn that I put my own blood, sweat, and tears in. But until then, I will enjoy how far I've come in life and soak up memories with my family.

I've been watching for 5 ish years now.. Lost in all the growth of a new company, a golf course.... Your filming and story telling with the filming has become EXCEPTIONAL.

I recommend making tee markers out of fallen tree branch and same with wood benchs like Augusta does from fallen trees.

Do each tee box slightly elevated on the lower side going down the hill with some sort of rock feature around the edges. It'd make them level and they'd be more pronounced in the landscape

I remember when the neighbor kid made a nine-hole putting green in his backyard. The land wasn't totally flat, but it was fun to putt.

Amazing watching what you had to what everything has become now. Glad to see everything is moving in the right direction! Will your greens continue to be PRG or will you eventually go to bentgrass?
Eventually there will be some bent. Not sure how quickly I will be transitioning things since I have some soil to move and likely need some time to clean it of invasive and rough grasses
@ryanknorrlawncare how would you go about removing the other grasses? I have become allergic to bluegrass at minimum as well as rye grass so lawn care hasn't been a fun hobby lately and am considering going to creeping bentgrass soon to get my stress relief back.

Any update on the buffalo grass plot? I grew the UC Verde variety YEARS ago (loved it) but now live in a different state and climate and yearn for another good stand of buffalo.

Tell us about the "mulch", you cleaned up. Was it put down for lawn health?

As you're mowing in front of the home that won't be "hit on" I can't help but think.. why isn't this a practice putting green? Perfect size!
One thing at a time but yes it could probably be that later. I had a line of sprinkler heads run through the middle so that might be a chore to change
@@ryanknorrlawncare its just a practice green. Keep the sprinkles, and just cut holes in the areas they're not. Love your vision on the property!

what type of seed would you advise for a home putting green in your climate. my whole yard is your elite rye at 3/4 inch and i would like to attempt a green in the middle.

Hey ryan, I’ve recently bought your equalizer fertilizer and noticed after the first application I tried to start my second application two weeks later and noticed that my backpack sprayer wasn’t coming up to pleasure so I could hear the pump going but when I pulled the trigger I wouldn’t get anything out of the nozzle. I did some problem solving and found that the filter inside the tank was completely blocked. I’ve never had that problem and I removed the junk and it continued to work until I noticed that I was loosing pressure mid walk on my application. I checked my filter in the tank and again I saw some buildup on the filter. I’m using the same backpack sprayer that you had before (sprayer plus 105ex) and I wanted to know what I can do to avoid this problem. Thanks
I've never had any issues. You might have really hard water though so that could be an issue. I would try warm water and really agitate it in a bucket like crazy before putting in the sprayer. That way you can also see it when you're pouring in and make sure there's no granules that haven't dissolved.
@@ryanknorrlawncare thanks for responding so quickly. I do have hard water so that could be the trouble. I’ll try using the warm water and not add the liquid iron so I can tell if everything is broken up. Thanks for your help
Give that a shot and hopefully that helps the issue. Otherwise we do have pHixORR which you can add for hard water if it continues to be something you experience but I'm hoping the warm water and enough agitation will do the trick.
Didn't love the style of this video as a regular viewer but probably the right way to capture an audience from first time watchers. Can't wait to see the golf project develop. Better have that green rolling by next season 😄

Great video ! How do you keep the 60k sq feet of rye watered and still green? Ik u spray fert and wetting agents, but the water is a big part and unfortunately for my 70k of rye I don’t have a good way to water. I live in NY and these last two weeks of heat has turned my lawn already
I have one large sprinkler but it's getting a little more brown now with a lot of 90s for temps. It took me 7 hours to water yesterday
Nice vid. Suggestion from someone in shooting/editing biz for long time, you may want to consider losing those profile shots, when otherwise addressing the camera..They're really not needed. Why look away from whom you're addressing? Form over function. With your format, it may not be needed. Just. thought. Fore!

Love the new flag Ryan! OK, I need an invite when you have your first little tourney! My shop is on the down hill slide now, I just got my lifts put together and working, the only thing left is the attic blown in insulation and they are suppose to come this week. I will be having an open house with the last week of August or first week of September and you guys are for sure invited! I'll make sure Paul lets you know the date and address.

Ever have any issues with moles? Seems like none of the "LawnTube" guys ever get moles, but I usually get a couple a year.
I highly recommend the Wire Tek 1001 trap. I have 3 of them. Yesterday I caught a mole in 2 hours. I’ve caught 5-6 moles, always within half a day as long as you place them on a fresh tunnel.
All depends where you live. They likely deal with things you don’t have to?
Lawn care nut is in Florida, not many moles. Ryan is in Iowa, not many moles…
You might have to look up and see if there are lawn guys in your area that deal with them

Absolutely awesome! Curious if those upcoming plans for the putting green mean you’re going to switch to bentgrass? Or still keep the rye in some way?
I have a practice rye green going now so testing some things but eventually there will be some bent. I need to move some soil so I may need to get the invasive and rough grasses out of it before converting to bent

You just need to get a range finder, mark your yardages at each box (maybe engraved in submerged rocks), and/or tee box markers with Westberry Acres logo with yardages. Maybe a sand trap in front of green.
I have all the yardages and have them on scorecards for now. I'll get the tee markers done eventually 😀
Grow a collar of rough around the tee boxes and leave a few bands of rough scattered around. Gotta have all the shots in your play. Not just the tee shots and perfect fairway.
There's plenty of rough areas that you land in off the tees. The green right now is only 2k sq ft and narrow so it's hard to hit every time 👍

Coming along nicely! I also put a back yard golf course in. You’re gonna love it. Started out exactly like you with a non traditional green. I eventually put in a bent grass green and that was a game changer. A lot of work but I almost enjoy taking care of it more than playing on it now.
