Just wanted to share it here because I feel like my explanations in the video is a bit chaotic than usual, especially since it was just my first time watching the video and I was a little bit sick that time, so my mind wasn't working right immediately lol But I still believe that any interpretation is valid, so I really enjoy putting different meanings into the song that might not be the creators' first intention but still applies accurately to the work :)
i think the lyrics "Ngayon, 'di mo ba nakikita 'yung mga nasa laot? Bagong bapor, dala-dala'y mga salot" has to be a conscious choice of words with the current events in the country. this is a history lesson as much as it is also a cautionary tale and a call to rise up.
Also yung isang line sa bridge, I think it's about the current issue on the West Philippine Sea: Pero 'di natin namamalayan Meron na palang ugnayang Magpalit kamay ang mananakop Ngayon 'di mo ba nakikita yung mga nasa laot Bagong bapor dala-dala'y mga salot
i think they're referring to the treaty of paris when the spanish sold us to the americans for 20m dollars and making us believe that they're allies without knowing na they alr bought us. plus, they even set up a scripted battle for the spaniards and americans kasi apparently we're alr winning against spain at that time and it would be an embarrassment for them if they lose to brown ppl, kaya they used the americans para on papers white ang nakatalo sakanila. they just played on us and ang masakit we have no idea na may echange gift na pa lang nagaganap hahaha but yeah, it can also be use to our current situation naman

This was such a great reaction video 👏 I love when foreigners appreciate p-pop pero with Alamat, and this song in particular, yung mga Pinoy ang talagang nakakaintindi ng mga references. About the boot stepping on them, feeling ko reference yung sa American colonization, when Spain left but sold the country to America ("Meron na palang ugnayan, magpalit-kamay ang mananakop"). Pero tama ka rin - it also works as a reference to modern times, the colonized mindset, etc. This is such a good song, I'm still kind of in shock! 🤯
Ako na casual listener sa Ppop, sobrang naiinis ako sa mga tao sa Reddit, kesyo napaka underwhelming daw ng MV. at hindi daw dapat nasa "studio" lang. LIKE WTF? Kung yung mga ibang Pinoy sana sumusuporta sa sariling atin eh sana mas malake budget? Ngayon ko nalang ulit sila napakinggan and I can say ang ganda ng IsaPuso na album nila.
