I've had a rescue Dog for two years now, she came from a war torn country and was a total wreck when she arrived, we showed her love, care and understanding, it took her a very long time to trust us and to realise that we were her family, I'm not saying that she's the perfect Dog but she loves us both and that's all that matters after she had been through so much trauma, she now has peace and a forever home, well done to you Paul
Great Video Paul. Well done for Getting a rescue Dog. One of my Dogs came from Dogs Trust. I’ve had him since he was 2 years old and is now 10. He’s been a fabulous member of the family.
All credit to you Paul it's the right thing to do. We all get older and if our last year's are going to be spent being loved and cared for then what a fantastic way to go.👍👍🐶🐶🐶.
Paul....you are a good egg.. a top chap.... a good un. Well done on giving Wilma a second chance on living out her years in a warm and loving family. ❤️ 🐕🐶
Great news for Wilma & your girls will really appreciate having a dog. The rescue centre must be overjoyed to find such a wonderful home for Wilma, there is plenty of life for Her to lead & love to share with your family. We have Had several rescue Greyhounds, currently 12 year old Betty is upside down on the sofa
❤ Wilma is a lovely looking dog and you and your family are wonderful people 💛 I’m sure Wilma will have a wonderful life with you all and love you all, with all her heart. This video made me cry 😭 as it’s almost a year since lost my dog that was my therapy dog whilst I was off work due to a medical condition. Dogs fill your lives with joy and happiness and are so deeply missed when no longer here 😢😢 🐾
Wilma has a new family, new home, and a wonderful new life. She's an old(er) lady with a bit of baggage, and hopefully she can relax a little more in your care. 🦮
I have had 4 rescue dogs, 3 Corgis and a Lurcher. All of them were lovely dogs.. Sadly I lost my Corgi 6 weeks ago. I am very old but I hope I can find another dog.
Rescues are the best!! We have done the same with cats; two of them we knew had limited lives but giving them a happy comfortable few months was rewarding and the right thing to do. We will always get rescues.
How nice that your daughters can see beyond the obvious charms of puppies. It does mean that you won’t have as long together as you might have with a puppy but what a time you will have. We lost our dog in January at the age of 16 so you might well have lots of time together. I’m very happy for you and your family. And for Wilma.
Good on you. All my dogs over the years (3) were rescue dogs, only one was a problem but we persevered and kept him anyway. One lived until he was 20, one was 19 and my last one was nearly 15.👍
About the only thing that can move me to tears is anything to do with dogs (or animals in general, except humans). This video certainly did that. Our Cairn, Max, hasn't had the worst life before he came to us but definitely some trust & insecurity issues. Like Emma said, plenty of fresh chicken treats & lots of happy family time will go a very long way. Max is 10 & has been with us for 3 years now, you wouldn't recognise him how far he's come along. Bravo for giving Wilma the stable home and love she deserves, wish we could've met her when we were up that way.
Lovely video Paul, I couldn’t agree with your sentiments more. Rescue cat chap personally, one of mine spent 2 years in a rescue centre and was brought back twice because he was ‘difficult’… lovely temperament now after 8 years, just gave him space and allowed him to dictate contact ( only took a month or 2 to settle, but his manner improved daily fro there), perseverance is key!
Also saw the picture on the centre's website and thought it looked a lot like you! Wonderful that your kids choose an older dog. Great video, agree so much with your comments. My Christmas present to my sister in law is to sponsor one of the dogs that they have that can't be re-homed. They do look after those well but obviously being in a home is the ideal.
My mum has two dogs that where rescued. I had many dogs in my Time my last Dog bouncer i was given he had no where to go. I took him and had him for 10 years he was lovely he was a Staffy. He was so friendly and always happy. He used to come for rides in the car with me walks by the canal. You are going to give its best life mate I know that. 😊
Amazing, well done, I would also rescue if I could have a dog, instead I rescued a street kitten here in Gibraltar last year, and many rescue dogs from across the border in Spain. Well done you and your family, what a lovely dog and a lovely story, god bless you all, and lovely Wilma.
Thank you I’m a bit fussy when it comes to dogs, cross breed of mongrel and rescued, in the words of John Lennon, all you need is love. Thank you for bringing up this subject. My last two dogs lived 16 years 16 years of love that goes both ways
Lovely video Paul, nice guitar intro and some very well expressed sentiments. Hope Wilma settles in alright and becomes a wonderful part of your family.
Bless you for giving her a home Let’s hope you get to spend a good few years together Whole heartedly agree with your reasoning, wish there were more people who thought that way As for the snapping you are still a relative stranger to her give her time and hopefully the bond will develop
Aww Wilma is lovely. Sounds like she was treated bad though if she snaps when u try and move her. I have a cairn terrier that hasn't been treated bad but he wouldn't be very happy if I tried to get him down off the sofa (cairns are very stubborn and are the boss) 😂 it will take time to build up trust between u and Wilma. Lots of fresh chicken treats and walks will definitely build up a solid relationship. Also get your girls to give her treats too. 😊🐶
Glad you decided to get a rescue dog. It takes time for them to decompress, and get used to an trust their new humans. I have 5 rescue husky’s ranging in ages from 15 to 3 years old , its hard work, but its so worth it when you get to that moment when the change and decide you are my human and I love you. So good luck Wilma you have your forever home. 🐾🦴🍖
@@ProjectNigel it reminded me of John Williams, he did a guest slot on the Kieth Floyd cooking show years ago ( it’s on RUclips) and it was mesmerizing. You need to play and ad more music like this.
Not normally a commenting type but really well said Paul, having rescued 3 dogs myself and volunteered at a dog rescue, im sure she'll settle in with time and patience, quite a poignant video, different to the usual random ramblings and wit
Once she settles I'm sure she will be fine past history of possible neglect, then in a shelter then brought in to a different enviroment again it will hwve taken it's toll time and love is all thats required at the moment.
Very poignant video. You have chosen well and the approach to owning Wilma and giving the space she needs to settle in with you and the family. I’ll be watching out for your updates. BTW: I am sorry you have been forced to relinquish so much of your yard to the containers that are coming in.
Brought a tear to my eye mustard. Very noble sir to give an older dog a home. Challenging but rewarding.
People forget about the older dogs, they deserve all the love we can give them, good on you for rescuing her.
You're a proper chap Mustard for giving an old rescue dog a good life in it's later years.
You and you’re family will love this dog for the rest of her life, such a wonderful thing to do.

A lovely looking dog. She looks like she has years ahead of her. You are very kind to give her a home. She looks very happy.

Such wise words. Very moving.
Absolutely the right thing to do Paul, have a good time together with her and the family

Lovely thing to do Paul 🙂

My Vin and Dobs are rescue dogs, 19 and 13 now, rescue all the way for me.

Hi Paul hope you're lucky with your new pet
Only thing wrong having a old dog is my pet insurance is costing me £230 per month 😢
£230 a month? What? Eh?
I took my dog Wednesday for blood test check over and 60 tablets £450 plus vat 😅good job I love my dog
❤❤
So you have a new "rover" then. That's the best way to get a dog. I have a rescue cat I've had for 12 years.
Well done a gentle side😂
What does Wilma think of the yard cats
A beautiful piece of guitar music 🎶 at the opening.
Is that your fair hand playing?.
Yes, from about 15 years back
