Ya know, before I came across your RUclips site, I had never really thought much about the freeway system of the Twin Cities, and that was based on a limited number of pictures. Your videos have really helped to completely change my perception of the freeway grid there. I like the aesthetic look that the MnDOT uses for their newer/reconstructed freeways. I really need to get out there sometime (and explore the districts in Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well).
Been thinking of moving back to Twin Cities. So much to do though and save money. Thank you for these great videos! Born and raised there. Attended South High School in the 60's. I'll be back again to watch more videos ...thanks.
For those of you not from MN, the bridge over the Mississippi on 35W is the new bridge that replaced the one that collapsed in 2007. It's still hard to believe that happened in MN. Looks like they did a decent job. I live outstate and haven't been on the new one yet.
Thank you for you attention is agradesco you want and I will continue as saving you video by the music and also by the truthful path I lived a year in Minnesota and was the maximum, thank you for bringing this part of my life to my present.
i love Minnesota i was born in minneapolis and mn is the best place to expirience all four seasons anyone planning on comming or exploring you are welcome to Minnesota!
Sioux Falls Oregon's Wind in PLSoccer your right I forgot that one and misspelled it but I think the Chiefs name was spelled Souix. There is also the Sioux Falls Timberwolves in PLB (NBA).
That was really interesting - Got a little confusing quickly though, ...wish you'd include a starting point each time the fwy changed & your directional heading, along with the fwy numbers (example: (i-94, at Snelling Ave. heading westbound). I think I saw another one of your Minneapolis car tours through the city a long time ago! - It was very cool & I enjoyed it very much. Visited MN once, would love to again.
Nice job! The Google Earth edits are fantastic. Your camera picks up a lot of vibration (shakiness). Do you have EIS turned on? Some of the latest cameras have pretty much licked this issue, at very reasonable prices. Thx for the share!
I've lived in Owatonna most of my life; lived in Denver for 9 months for work but came back to Minnesota. As much I like living in a smaller town I absolutely have a long time love affair with the twin cities. I don't get up there as much as I like but I was smiling the whole time watching this video. I wish I had more time to dedicate to the area and explore new places. Thanks for sharing the video!
Those are metered ramps. MN DOT runs them to control how many cars enter the freeway so it doesn't get so congested(that's how it's supposed to work anyway). They're usually only on during rush hour.
So the I35 road goes all the way down to Larado,TX and Mexico, in winter do you ever feel like filling up on gas and floor it south? I find it amazing how this road (and others)could have tropic whether at one end and arctic whether at the other in winter, even if the normal temps might be less extreme then.
great views of the skyline. Unfortunately, most European freeways do not offer such views (most Euro cities don't have big skylines in the first place).
***** because they base it off population. I've been through both metros, and Chicago is basically the size of the Minneapolis metro, clustered together, but way different leagues. After you leave Chicago alone, the metro doesn't seem to have many tall buildings sprawled out like the Twins do, so yes, Minneapolis is way bigger, because Minneapolis still has big buildings in the whole entire area. Chicago doesn't do that, and every city is different. You can't really measure that stuff. But yes, it's way more spread out than Chicago is, it's just that Chicago is over populated.
chicago city- 2.8 million chicago metro-9.5million minneapolis-400070 st paul-294068 twin cities metro-3,8million chicago is much much bigger in every way
ethan powell And thanks for not even listening to my point. Minneapolis feels a lot more spread out like Dallas. Chicago has a larger metro, but it's an imaginary line made up by man, you can't really measure that. Chicago doesn't really spread out with big buildings like a metroplex. I observe this a lot for my studies, and I've personally been to these places, and Chicago feels small because it doesn't feel sprawled out. You can't really compare cities, and they can't measure how many people actually go in and out of areas. There's no telling how many people are in each city, we logically don't know.
...What the hell does all this mean? First of all, it's spelled Sioux...second of all, the Sioux Falls sports teams are the Storm (Indoor Football League), Canaries (American Association of Independent Professional Baseball), Skyforce (National Basketball Association Development League), and Stampede (United States Hockey League)
Souix Falls home of the Souix Falls Sooners in Ultimate Supreme Football, The Souix Falls Seltzers in MLBaseball, and Souix Falls New Deutschland Storm in hockey. While the Dokies are headed to Waverly (Columbus) in baseball.
I'm born & raised in The Twin Cities, I love Minneapolis & can't imagin living anywhere else. These videos are great. Thanks. Jeff
I agree
its peaceful there in Minneapolis until the George Floyd protests 1 decade later.

400,000 people is misleading because thats just the center, whole area is over 3 million.

Well this is a weird time to be recommended
There is actually a place on I believe Hwy 52 where you can see the skylines of both cities for a second. It's pretty cool to see.

also did a great job, being so early in finishing the bridge on Sept. 2008, 3 months early.
