If the brakes make noise, just Grease them on the disc itself.

My Dad had a 300D exactly like that. Take me back to 1984!

Happy to see and hear Old Spences transmission is shifting very good. My guess would also be a stuck thermostat. Block corrosion can happen when the cooling system ran dry and it sat for many years or decades without coolant in the block. Scaly rust is always a indicator of water being used a coolant substance.

There are just soo many tips and tricks you could learn from this Grand Master. If you are willing to learn. And have the capacity to learn. This channel is pure gold for anyone who owns a vintage Mercedes. I don't own or drive a Mercedes, but I admit, I did a quick search for such a car at our local equivalent of Craig's List or eBay or whatever after watching a lot of these videos. Damn, these videos are pure gold for any Mercedes enthusiast.

I remember testing my Ford Escort (1968) thermostat in a pan of boiling water to see if it opened at the marked temperature. 17 was a long time ago. 😂.

Thermocure, that will take care of any coolant system corrosion. My son has a 100 series Landcruiser and the heat wasn’t working great. Used thermocure and it works perfectly now. It will take a good 8-10 flushes with clean water before everything is cleaned out, FYI. This stuff is much more powerful than the Prestone stuff, trust me on that!

Seems to run nicely on the test drive, hopefully it's just the thermostat causing temperature going too high.
