His character didn't make sense before anyways, he was just really cool and badass. But he didn't make much sense story wise.

I'm just going to point out that manga _are_ comics under a different name. Just like anime is the Japanese equivelant to cartoons.
J Sabere no both are graphic novels or graphic reading material under different names .It's kind of like drinks being able to be water juice etc(soft drinks hard drinks). Both manga and comics have distinct features that make them different but relatively the same .
I don't know about that, all of them can be listed as graphic novels but both western comics and eastern mangas are, essentially, the same. I know the origins of the term anime come from animation, or at least that's what I've heard. It seems like anime/manga and comic/cartoon are named seperately because they were created (and raised?) in a different culture. Both the mediums are basically the same.
The best example I can think of to illustrate my point is _Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt._ Most of the time, it really looks nothing like the vast majority of anime or manga. This makes me question if it's actually the production team/studio behind the work since, like Western animations/cartoons, the art style can vary wildly and still be considered apart of the category. Then what about the series _Kill La Kill_ which comes from a group in France? It is still largely considered an anime despite the studio behind it being French.
What is the defining factor(s) that make it show we can, without a doubt, sort anime from cartoons - manga from comics? How they are delivered is very much the same with the only _significant_ change being general art style with language and origin taking backseats to this.
For example, is Teen Titans considered an anime or a cartoon? Some people say a cartoon while others say anime.
What am I missing that cements that comics/manga and cartoons/anime are not the same medium seperated by the culture the come from? Farming is still farming, T.V. is still T.V. and books/stories are still the same. Why is it this specific one that we draw the line in?

"Can saiyans breath in space" actually no they can't. hell the story, manga, and anime all prove this to be that they can't. yeah you watch the movies, and read the books. you'll see ANY time they're supposedly in space. they're usually near some form of atmospheric supply of air.... be it a space ship. or in the upper stratosphere of a planet. or something of that like. at no time other than frieza's remains in the namek arc, are any of the characters shown to be able to survive in space, since frieza said he can, and has shown he can at his weakest, he passes.
goku and friends on the other hand, are usually just in the opening of a space ship in the upper atmosphere of a planet, or using a space suit to be able to survive. no where are they ever in deep outer space away from a planet, or ship, or space suit and still surviving on their own. this proves that no, the saiyans can not survive in the vacuum of space. end of that debate right now.
I think Toriyama said the saiyans "hold their breath" in space. But that could be a joke. I find it hard for Bardock to yell in the vacuum of space while still holding his breath. It's all just "whatever".

The way i always understood the whole Saiyans breath in space thing was, No they cant breath in space but can survive low earth orbit. Every time i recall them being in space with no space suits they were Just above a planet. Like with the Bardock special, Friezas ship was parked just above the planet.

I actually have heard people say stuff like "why doesn't Gohan go super saiyan" when he's in his ultimate form, but I think those are people that just watch the show casually and don't pay attention.
Even as a kid and a casual watcher I knew that Ultimate Gohan was stronger than his Super Saiyan form. Granted I also wasn’t sure just how strong Ultimate Gohan was but in my mind I believed he was at least as strong as Super Saiyan 2 or greater.
I also don’t understand anything about how Gohan becoming Ultimate Gohan works. I originally thought he had lost his Super Saiyan forms in exchange of making his base form far superior than any of his previous transformations could grant him. However, in DBS when Gohan was training and became Ultimate Gohan (I knew he was Ultimate Gohan because of his look resembling how he previously looked during the Buu Saga) and I was left thinking is this a transformation? Or not?

RE: "Over eight thousand" and mouth flaps: the only thing I can think of that's (poorly attempting to be) argued in that bullet point is that the shape of the syllable "ver" can flow directly into "eight" in one constant opening motion, whereas "ver" into "nine" requires a soft reclosing of the mouth to get the "n" sound. If the translators and directors felt like they had to fill in an extra mouthflap, they would have the option. An unnecessary change, obviously, since "eight" can be its own mouthflap with zero problems, but at least that's within possibility.
Unlike, say, the inverse where the animation was one mouthflap too short and they decided to edit the number to meld "-ver eight" into one mouthflap, then it would be sensible. But, that example would require changing from "nine" to "eight," which is exactly the opposite of what happened.
It's a farfetched explanation and still pretty dumb so I have little interest in studying the scene precisely enough to find out how accurate it could potentially be, but it's at least not an *entirely* dumb explanation.

My very simple reason (other than being a longtime fan); you said my main point to everyone who starts flipping over bad writing, plot holes, etc, which is “It’s a show written for Japanese children.” To every ‘adult’ who complains over things like Kale’s quick learning SS or whatever, take it easy or if it really makes you that angry, try and write a children’s show that has no continuity issue (good luck!).

As I kid, I thought that the reason they split from being Vegito was because Vegita's still technically dead and was only given the same deal Goku was at the start of the Tournament saga. I mean sure his physical body was there, alive, but he was only allowed 1 day if what I assumed was correct.
A much better misconception is Tien’s name. His name is Tenshinhan, with only Chiaotzu calling him Ten-san. I don’t know why they changed it, but my guess is they changed it to make it easier for kids to say his name, but that’s just my interpretation. Can anyone confirm this?
mega sean well when dragonball came to the west they shortened a lot. Saiya-Jin was shortened to Saiyan, Kaio was whitened to Kai, kaioshin was just called Supreme Kai, kai, or shin.
I feel like Tien's (and everyone else's) name in the original Viz manga translation were mostly direct translations from Japanese, hence Tenshinhan instead of Tien Shinhan, Kuririn instead of Krillin, Kame-Senin or Muten-Roshi instead of Master Roshi, etc. and they were changed for the Western audience. This was also probably the case for techniques like Solar Flare, Evil Containment Wave, and Tri-Beam being Taiyo-ken, Mafuba, and Kikohou in the Viz manga.

So I read this article/saw this video by CBR when it came out. And there were things that I disliked about it, but I credited the fact that he's probably talking about the more casual fan with most of his bullet points. However, the part about Ultimate/Mystic/Unlocked Potential Gohan still gets under my skin to this day. If he did know anything about Dragon Ball fans, whether they're hardcore or casual fans, MOST of them know that the reason Gohan even agreed to HAVE a power up separate from Super Saiyan is because it is a MORE powerful form than his SSJ transformations.
Mystic Gohan is at or slightly above the level of SSJ 2 Gohan, however it's a power up which he can sustain for longer during a fight, being that it's not a transformation and therefore doesn't drain his energy. In fact it's part of the reason why Gohan is mentioned by Vegeta in DBS as STILL having the most latent power of ANY Saiyan. His power levels increase far faster than anyone else in the series when they're NOT training. The times after being unlocked that Gohan does his SSJ transformation, it's notable that he doesn't hold the form very long, usually because he doesn't feel the fight will be long or drawn out. When sh** gets real, he powers up to Ultimate, because he can fight with that power for far, far longer, and continues to gain more power as he fights.

The 5th point in the article about wishing the same thing twice is completely wrong. The only thing it applies on is resurrection wishes.
It's also the reason why Goku wasn't revived at the end of the Cell saga, and it was specifically said after Dende upgraded Shenron to mutiple wishes. So, the part about resurrection loopholes is also wrong, wich negates both point 4 and point 3.
This entire video should be renamed to, "I covered this in another video called..."

to correct you , something that was once canon can become non-canon, the eu of star wars for example where many thing used to be canon till disney bought star wars.
gt was prior to battle of the gods, considered the continuation of dbz and due to super and the like altering and fully retconing what gt was, its no longer considered in the main dragon ball canon, many speculate it ties into the movie verse prior to botg.
Yeah, the Dragonball rules were odd. I recall Kami, or someone else, saying that the Shenlong cannot fulfill a wish that *exceeds its creator's powers* and I'm pretty sure it was Kami who said that he cannot resurrect people. But then, if that's true, *why* can Shenlong resurrect people? I could be wrong, but I think this was said early on in the manga (in regards to Upa's father's death, I think) and it has been at least a year since I read the Dragonball manga. But ten, Dragonball itself was a more comedic manga and Toriyama himself WAS pretty much writing by the seat of his pants.

I have an old magazine from 2000 (October) that is supposed to be an "A to Z, everything you need to know about Dragon Ball" presented by Ghostmasters. This magazine is so horrible with so much misinformation, to the point that it's just hilarious. I'm glad I still held on to this magazine after all these years. What's funny is when I was a kid and didn't know any different, I fell for it and lived by this guide.
*I say that I was a kid but in 2000 I was 15, which I consider a kid*
