I own and run a lawn mower shop and i will say online shopping is great but if you have a lawn mower shop local to you, support local businesses, and lawn mower shops can usually get part's they don't have the next business day at no extra cost to the customer, also with some lawn mower shop's if you establish a relationship with them some will give you discounts on parts if you do outdoor power equipment repair, now as far as signing up with part's distributors - if you own a lawn mower/small engine repair shop or want to get into the outdoor power equipment industry signing up with Rotary,Stens & Oregon and the major OEM part's distributor for Oregon,Tecumseh,Zama,Briggs & Kohler is not hard at all and usually takes less than 10 minutes, now of course it varies where you are located, i am located in the south (SC to be exact), also Tecumseh part's are not hard to find, i can get anything Tecumseh OEM and aftermarket easily, the website mentioned above is located in Tennessee and the part's they have (especially Oregon parts, which i sell alot of each year) come from the exact same companies i mentioned above, i'm not trying to discourage online shopping or "talk bad" about anyone or anything i'm simply sharing knowledge other's might find interesting.
I always support my locals...nothing beats it...face to face...bs over coffee...support me...I support you...Keene small engine parts...great place...and justice auto supply...fuck auto zone...
I buy from my local small engine shop, I have gotten to know them and they always teach me something I didn’t know or a tip here and there to make things easier. You don’t get that on line.
Plus, Oregon told me that Oregon products come as rebranded for OEM on many chainsaws' bars and chains and, since you mentioned that big catalog, likely others as rebranded OEM parts, too. An Oregon tech was extremely helpful over the phone in explaining chains and bars types for my chainsaw and really simplified my selection choices.
Just found this video. I went to the website and put in several part numbers for items I use and they had them all and at typically lower prices than my local parts shop. Thanks for sharing this great source for parts.
Thank you very much Donny. This sounds like a great place for sourcing parts for the machines we like to keep running. The shop I go to usually has a wait time of about a month before you get your repair back. They do good work but the wait time is a killer. I will be ordering from your recommendation for my future repairs.
This may be an old video and hopefully they are still in operation as most of the local shops here are closing up at an alarming rate and no option for getting parts. Thanks for sharing this VALUABLE information 👍✌️🙃
Here’s a few more tips. Do your own research and get your part numbers yourself. Don’t rely on someone else to find your part numbers. You should strive to never order a part you don’t need. What I mean by that is, make absolutely sure you have diagnosed the problem correctly. So if you order say a starter solenoid, it’s going to fix the problem. Also try to never order the wrong part. Do as much research as possible. Look at the pics online, take measurements, etc. One last thing, if you buy from a local supplier, follow these rules and try to not make it a habit of returning parts. Especially the parts they had to special order for you
THANKS, No longer use those plastic fuel cutoffs since I had one that showed on by the turnoff lever, but was turned off inside, I ONLY use the Oregon metal ones now. The Oregon drive tires that can fit the Snappers looks like only 1/2 the thickness of the factory one. Thanks for the resource
I have one that has been neglected by its previous owners however it still runs well. I plan to go through it this summer to get whatever life it has left from it as new ones are expensive and poorly built (too much plastic). Toro made a rugged machine.
Unfortunately for Canadian's some US vendors are sometime 3 times the cost of the part in shipping. I know you're from Canada too Dony, but I mean why aren't there Canadian online distributors?
Dony it is so good of you to put this info out!!! Lots of times it's hard to source parts. I have ordered parts from Discount On Line Parts before and have had great service. Thanks for posting!!!
I’m not into saleing parts but there is a parts store next door and they will keep anything I ask them to, plus customers can change parts to there account at parts store Store gives me a check every month
It takes a lot of experience to get this kind of knowledge. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. This is what makes your channel one of the best for DIY'ers. Thanks also for sharing your experience with parts cost and quality, specially non-OEM parts.
For buying bulk that seems good but if you only need one part unless you get free shipping it may not work out. I need to order $100 so the 10% disc covers the shipping.
Thank you for that wealth of knowledge and parts source. I fix equipment on a much smaller scale than you, and often have trouble finding parts for some older machines.
Your opinion; Discarded Sears B&S would Tecumseh have a good general purpose all-metal no plastic carburetor Reason for keeping gas fresh now is that alcohol absorbs water from the atmosphere and this can build up to not acceptable levels creating multiple problems
Thanks for the information on this parts supplier sometimes hard to find rare parts for old equipment. I may just order parts from you since I live in southern Ontario
That is great for those who have a shop and need parts they can depend on to repair the equipment they get in there. I don't own a shop, but do need parts at times to repair my lawn equipment. Right now I have to get a battery for one Craftsman mower, along with a battery for my Ford Escape SUV.
Thanks so much for all of your great content! I have binge watched quite of a few of your episodes. Currently working on a Stihl 015L, and looking for bearings and seals, but having a tough time locating (checking ebay regularly). Any idea of a good source of parts for old chainsaws?
HI Don great video. I need some help diagnostic a fuel problem on a sthil420 when I press on the primer bulb a wistler noise comes out the fuel thank any idea what could be the problem? I will really appreciate your time.thanks!
I have a MTD non-running lawn tractor with a Tecumseh engine. A local guy comes out and services mowers and had a really hard time finding a replacement muffler (years ago). He found a used one that was in excellent shape. I see that same muffler on the Discount Online Parts website. It's seems pretty pricey, but I have no idea how much he charged me or what the normal price for mufflers is. (I really need to get someone to haul that tractor away.)
Thanks you so much for all your information, I’m having trouble finding a replacement engine stop cable for a craftsman lawn mower, where could I purchase this from? The part number on the cable is 183281. Thanks
Hi Don. I just found your channel and found a lot of great info so far! I just started a small engine repair business and this video was very helpful. In your opinion, what are the most common B&S carb kits i should keep in the shop? Thanks and keep up the god work!
either didn't get the carb fully cleaned or there is bad gas still in the fuel tank, good practice is when you clean a carb drain and try to make sure the fuel tank is clean and start out with fresh fuel after cleaning , trust me ive cleaned carbs when I first started out and left bad fuel in the tank and had to start all over again, just a thought
I have had plugs cause that problem. They get hot after a couple/few minutes and the circuit either opens up or most likely the resistance builds to the point that current cannot pass. I have seen ignition coils do the same thing. Problems like this are not that common, but if it were just a stupid plug,it would make you happy.
Thank-you Donny for this video. I have a question about a snow blower that builds up snow and doesn't push it toward the auger fast enough to the shute and overflows on the sides. Your help in this matter would be appreciated...tony
Donny can you please do a video on replacing all the gaskets on a tecumseh HSSK50 snowblower or is there a way I can contact you please? I have this toro 521 with a tecumseh engine and it’s leaking oil and smoking really bad. Your videos helped me replace the carburetor but I don’t even know how to find the leak so I ordered all the gaskets but have no experience working on engines. Please let me know if I can contact you I live in Canada I can pay you for some time over FaceTime or something like that.
Hey Dony you should see if they have a parts portal you can imbed within your webpage. the fathers lawnmower shop got a portal put in 5 years ago and sales of parts thru it has gone nuts. The way it works they go to the portal page order there parts the order goes to you you confirm moneys paid then you just ok the order. It is then dispatched from the supplier direct to the customer. All your doing is collecting the coin and dealing with the incorrect orders. Give me a message if youd like to see it in Action Wont post it here
very useful video. I am just this minute trying to find a front drive wheel for my poulon pro self-propelled mower. my usual sources no long have the wheel in stock.

That's great if your local shops aren't owned/operated by douchebags.
I try to support my local shops , But some are not customer friendly . So I go online ! Sorry 😐
Scott Warren that’s what I’m talking about 😮
Thanks Don. I know you use Discount Online Parts quite a bit, but this is a great reminder that they have just about everything.
Glad I found your RUclips channel DonnyBoy. I have already put your knowledge to work on my snowblower chute. Watching you from Nova Scotia

I love the crackle noise when you handle a new part package. All part of that tactile experience all wanna be and real mechanics love!

Donny a RUclips AllStar for sure! God bless!
Outstanding!! Found a lawnmower part I've been searching for a long time. No more "jerry rigging". Thanks Donyboy.
Seriously, some great info even though I’m just a handy guy who like to do his own repairs!
I really appreciate these videos!

Ordered parts there as well, fast shipping and user friendly website. Thumbs up DB....
Thanks Don! Much appreciated!!
Good to know I need a new bar for my saw. Thx Eric.
Great info Don: I use lots of aftermarket parts but have not used discountonlineparts yet. I will try it soon. Thanks for the excellent video's.

Thanks for this info don, Tecumseh parts are harder and harder to get!
T Shirts too? Awesome.
Working on a Troy built bronco. Need brake assembly and a starter will check it out
It takes a lot of experience to get this kind of knowledge. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. This is what makes your channel one of the best for DIY'ers. Thanks also for sharing your experience with parts cost and quality, specially non-OEM parts.
I use E parts and Napa , have used nearly all of them and know which ones that rip you off to

Great; now for the Sears tractors & related 'deleted' missing parts.
Your opinion; Discarded Sears B&S would Tecumseh have a good general purpose all-metal no plastic carburetor

Thanks for the information on this parts supplier sometimes hard to find rare parts for old equipment. I may just order parts from you since I live in southern Ontario
Great information, Don. Always enjoy your videos. Did a water pump on my Dodge pickup because of you and saved big $$$ Many thanks!!
Thanks Donny on this excellent parts and supply video.
I agree we should support local business when possible. However, my local shop marks up the MSRP prices. That does not encourage me to visit them.
if they do that then i don't support local businesses
Yes great information 👍🏻
what do you recommend for a replacement engine for an older 2 stage cub cadet blower? I believe it is a 28"

Thanks very much sir.
They don’t have jack for Tecumseh but that doesn’t mean it’s not a helpful site. It just doesn’t help me fix my old snowblower. :)
Love your channel but this needs to be updated. Tried several part numbers from video in their site and turned up over a thousand items. Yikes!
Got them bookmarked.
Thank you..my husqvarna 136 need a new engine..
How’s everyone’s take on Rotary carburetor gaskets?
Hi Don. I just found your channel and found a lot of great info so far! I just started a small engine repair business and this video was very helpful. In your opinion, what are the most common B&S carb kits i should keep in the shop? Thanks and keep up the god work!
Thanks Don. You are right about the NON OEM carb kits, they are lousy.
The Stens and rotory kits have worked for me . Oregon not so much
*Great Video And Great Site to buy parts!*
This video is great . Thanks for sharing.
THANK YOU! Timely vid. as I am working on a Tecumseh and having trouble finding parts.
Don, Got a used Kholer pressure washer running good after I cleaned carb out. Went to test it out before selling and it runs then dies.

check auger belt tension
Thank-you Don.
Check that the augers are on the correct sides. If wrong way they dont push snow into the center. Dont ask me how I know that.
puedo conseguir el catalogo de partes en español? donde?

@@rltkktlr yes aftermarket
Hey Don...is Tecomseh even still around making engines any more?
No more tecumseh
They're in Johnson City TN, no tax outside TN, 9.5% on orders shipped to TN.

they are US, I usually only recommend to my usa viewers
@@donyboy73 OK thanks for the reply.
Nice video! Good to know they can source things from catalogs, though they have a fair amount already on their site.
Was intrigued by that drive disc, but it looks like my snowblower (intermediate frame 22" snapper I7222) doesn't/can't use that one, and/or the rubber on the disk comes separately (704059?) from the metal part (7031013yp?)? hello Donny.
I have a question for you .
Can you tell me the brand name & model number of the tool that you use to pierce spark plug wire? It looks like long nose with nail in the middle of jaw.
I don't know what you call that tool.
Thanks
DON! going crazy here. I have a FS44 STHIL brush cutter and the carb # 160B. It wont cold start without putting gas in the spark plug hole. have tried everything to fix it, cant find any carb. with that # on line. Do you have any help?? maybe they have a different carb # on them now?? I"M DESPERATE!
Have you checked if your fuel line was good and not dry
You can also proceed a leak test with the carb
check what other viewer commented below, you might need crank seals or another carb
Don, I'm concerned when using fuel valves. Wouldn't an empty carb cause the o-rings and-or gaskets to dry up?
no it won't
For some reason, I could not fiind them on line.
