Love the video. Can you please name the vendor, diameter, and name the type of thread for the tap. Also, the size of the drill bit for the mentioned tap
NPT causes lateral loads on the plastic. How do you deal with the plastic wanting to crack over time. Wouldn’t a straight thread face sealing valve bet a better solution?
Good one, Chris (long time no see!) I have a GE whole house like the smaller unit you show and can relate to what you say about them and changing the filter. I can see how this would be helpful. Thanks!
For the BB 20 this is almost manditory. Thanks for the idea. The problem is where to find this kind of valve. A set of search parameters or vender to buy from would be extremly helpful!!!
Thanks so much for your video. I have the same Big Blue mounted on my garage wall. It is next to my metal lathe. Every time I have to change the filter I have to support a large bucket so that it doesn't get water all over the floor. No matter how hard I try to be neat, some water splashes. I am old and the filter housing is heavy, not knowing when it's going to drop free while unscrewing. My only question is where do I get the valve shown in your video. Can you provide a link to it. Thanks again... Bob
I have the big blue 20” and when I change it there is always spillage. Next time I’m putting the valve in. Always wondered why they didn’t just come with that.
I'm pulling from a spring-fed system which contains iron-reducing bacteria. As a result, we can't use any galvanized fittings or they corrode. I have two separate storage tanks -- a 1500 gal tank that pulls directly from the spring and then a second 2500 gal storage tank that pulls from the first 1500 gal tank and discharges to my house. I'd like to install a filter between the two storage tanks, but am wondering if it will be a waste as I also use the water for irrigation. I'd like to preserve the components, appliances, etc. in my house by filtering out the iron, but if I am also using for irrigation water and end up having to change the filter out every few months, it's probably not worth it. What would you recommend in this scenario?
@@RCworstwater Thanks for the response. My water has a TDS of 70 ppm -- does that warrant a water softener? It sounds like if it does, I need to install somewhere inside vs in between the storage tanks. I just don't want to reduce the water pressure as I like it to be set at 70 PSI.
installing a valve will be a last resort for me first I am mounting my 20" BB close to the four foot height to control easy and building a small portable stand from pressure treated wood height of stand will be just a inch or two below the bottom of the canister when fully unthreaded from the canister head

Great explanation I like the idea of offsetting the petcock as well.
I'm getting my 2nd house, first with a well system - and this channel has been a savior in learning about all of this. Thank you so much!
Great to hear!
What a great idea. You've been so helpful and informative with your videos. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Can you list the item I need

Thanks for the comment! We are just starting to slow down enough to get some videos done so stay tuned!
I took mine out of service because it was heavy and awkward to work with. Would have been nice to know this earlier.

You can buy it from us! 208.664.2133
If @RCworstwater we can buy what we need from you, then why not simply provide direct links to the valve, die tap, and bits?
Can this be done on the clear plastic ones?
Great idea, I will do it on my 4 big blue filters. Would it make sense to drill on the flat part so you have a little more material for the threads?
what is the part number of the drain that you used and the part manufacture

I have been want to do this to my sysytem. It is possible to add this to a 20" clear housing or are they too brittle?
This is really cool!! Can be used for backwash the filters as well?

Where do i get that petcock
Good freaking work!
Thank you! Cheers!

Do not filter irrigation water. You likely need a water softener for the house water.

Why don't they come with a drain?
Couldn't f8nd this valve on your website
It's not on our website. You will have to call to order: 855.329.4519
