If you do the second movie I need your opinion on the song Space Between. It was originally written for Mal and Ben. They then gave it to Mal and Evie instead but kept the entire song exactly the same. Apparently so many people were commenting how gay it was and Disney turned off the RUclips comments on the video of the scene.

Some fun backstory from the Prequel Book:
Carlos would never like a dog for it's fur, he lived in the little space behind his mother's coat closet that was bear trapped. (I know it was a joke, but I figured I could provide some fun context). Carlos is also a bit younger than the others, but he was smart enough to skipp a grade or two back on the Isle.
Evie spend her whole life homeschooled not even going to get groceries due to a feud between the Evil Queen and Maleficent, so EQ made her stand in front of a mirror and point out her own flaws every day. Her only value was her appearance.
Jay likes stealing stuff because that's all he really knows. Jafar says at the beginning, "who will stock my shelves?" because that's literally all Jay is to him, Jay sleeps on a matt under a shelf in the Jafars Store (If I remember correctly).
Mal and Ben both had prophetic dreams about each other before Ben proposed the villain kid reform program, so they were already destined to fall in love.
This was actually Sophia Carson's first movie role (she played evie)

One of those lines toward the end TOTALLY reminded me of that quote from Voldemort in AVPM: "you'd think killing people might make them like you, but it doesn't! It just makes people dead."

Decendants is like the Once Upon a Time for kids including bad green screen and cgi.
Also I was a stage crew person in High school and the year after I graduated, they did Descendants. I went to go see it because I had two friends in big roles, Maleficent and Jay. It was BAD, not because it was a high school production (my high school is known for it's theatre program) but because it was clearly meant for younger kids. Like there were students who I had watched night after night give good performances phoning in.
Fun fact: The song Maleficent and Mal sing in the museum is based on the song, I Want to Be Evil by Eartha Kitt! Highly recommend watching her performance 💜
Ok so a little context. In the books, before Mal arrived to Auradon both Mal and Ben have been dreaming of each other for months, so that’s why he was so in love right off the bat

i was on the tale end of my time with disney channel when the first movie came out but i still really liked it! not only is it full of bops but it’s just always fun to see spins on classic disney characters, especially when done well!!

This trilogy is a guilty pleasure of mine! I loved alternative fairytales growing up so this was great then and now. Kenny Ortega kills it again! The detail of the Isle costumes are so cool. There is an interview with Dove where she talks about how during the second movie she put on the leather pants and artists hand painted all the designs on while she was wearing them!

I love the descendants franchise- it's my favorite DCOM franchise- I love how unapologetically Camp/campy it is- which is not surprising the first 3 films are directed/ choreographed by Kenny Ortega and he is known to put camp/campy elements in the disney films he directs/choreographs. These films at least the first three are loosely based off the franchise of the same name by Melissa de la cruz. I love the coreographyin these films. Kristen Chenoweth was clearly having so much fun!

Cameron Boyce and Anton Yelchin were two of my favorite actors but were also genuinely amazing human beings who both left this earth way too soon and the world will forever be a sadder place for having lost them 💔 (Anton isn't in this movie but whenever I think of one it reminds me of the other 😟)
They all can dance so very well.
My Irish heart has always loved that the game they play is like an extreme version of Hurling 😊

I remember watching this air on Disney Channel. And also another time me & my childhood bestie (still besties to this day.) were having a sleepover & were coloring & drawing on my bed while watching descendants on cable on my “new” square gray box tv that used to be my older brother’s. This movie is so good. Audrey is such an extremely annoying character. It’s honestly surprising that she’s Aurora’s daughter. I think the spell enhanced Ben’s feelings for Mal bc it was clear that there was something there from the beginning. Love the videos! You two do an amazing job!

Never actually watched The Descendents but I’ll have to check it out someday. I thought the story sounded fun, Disney villains are usually the best part of the movies (or in the case of sleeping beauty the best part of the movie) so a movie about their kids sounds like an interesting time.
