- Pokémon GO is turning 8 years old next month in July, and Niantic is celebrating with an in-game event. It is, unfortunately, looking to be incredibly boring based on the event spawns, but there are a few bonuses that will be really good! Let's talk about it.

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

I wouldn't mind the paywalls quite as much if there was an option to use the equivalent pokecoin values to get the tickets. That way you have some incentive to get coins.

I agree, I got a shiny party hat bulbasaur in January and I’ve been waiting for it to be able to evolve so I can get a shiny mega dex entry for mega Venusaur, this would’ve been the perfect event
Right last year I got a perfect party had bulbasour and was literally waiting for this
This event isn’t 50/50 good or bad, it’s simply a bad event, let’s not sugar coat and try to be positive for game that doesn’t care about the community
Truthfully I’m excited, I wanna catch a bunch of starters and trade them to try and get a lundo, the celebi ticket sucks tho

I was expecting more from an anniversary event. I feel that these summer (for us northern H. peeps) events have been lackluster. It seems Niantic's max effort is going to the in person events, which is what,
They should of done something along the lines of very useful pokemon with party hats with like you said comm days moves

I just started this past December I can't wait for the first couple of days, Gen 2 spawns have been few and far between in my time here with Go.

They should've made it to where all the starters could get there com moves during like he mentions so terrible major missing feature of it
Haven't played since 2017, I'm pumped. But I do hate the catch rate on the starters...
This event is simply bad, no effort, 🗑 spawns and horrible bonuses 😅
sucks that we can't get CD moves when evolving, still awaiting for opportunity with lucky&4* groovyle for over 2 years now.
I'd personally love it if Niantic would give us some rewards that get us Mega Energy for some of the other Megas instead of the same set almost every single time. For example, Aerodactyl. For whatever reason, I missed getting all the Mega Energy I need to evolve Aerodactyl to its Mega form, and am stuck on 195 - 5 short of what I need.
Also, regarding the friendship bonuses for this event, it's a shame that it didn't also come with being able to open more gifts from friends per day.
I think they should give you the Legacy-moves for evolving any starter..

The part I dont get is why feature spiratito, fuecoco and Quaxly...they spawn all the time...they should have done a special version of these to make it worth the time. I really want shinys of torchic, treeko and mudkip, I dont have these as a shiny at all.
That’s exactly what I said. Nobody gives a crap about Spiriggato, quaxly or fuecoco. They can’t be shiny, and they don’t have hats so leave their stupid asses out of the events! Nobody wants them or cares to have them!
Grimer and Muk can have a party hat but not Ivysaur and Venusaur 😭😭
In all seriousness though, going lucky isn't a very exciting bonus when they happen so infrequently (last lucky chance increase event during CNY I interacted with at least 20 best friends every day and didn't go lucky) and can be almost inaccessible to most players to co-ordinate said trades cause of distance or life. I am excited for starters to spawn, need a good Primarina and Snivy for GBL xD But do agree, they could've done something much more exciting for seasoned players - commday moves would've been the least they could do.
They just keep catering to new players and ignore the long term players who have kept the game afloat. The increased lucky friends potential is pretty good though. Everything else is boring since it’s basically the same event that it has been the last few years.
Been playing FTP since 2016. I'm all for catering to new players. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.
@@justvincenturb I just meant that there is little incentive for many long time players when they keep recycling the same events, same features, same wild spawns, same raid bosses, etc. ad nauseam.
I agree with everything u said in ur video so I'm just going to put my personal opinion. I'm a bit excited because I don't have a shundo of any of the starters. On top of that, I've been saving my meltan box 4 an event like this. B4 anybody comes at me, I've been playing this game since Jan 2017, maybe not from the very beginning, but pretty close. I also understand the other side. Especially since classic community Day has cyndaquil, which is happening this sat. This is a 5/10 event, a love hate relationship this one is.

So while looking for turtonator research, I was thinking about why some research is considered bad. And from what I can tell, it seems that it's only bad if the task is too grindy, or the reward is a pokemon that isn't useful. To combat this, it feels like niantic needs to make every pokemon useful in some way. Obviously there's PVP, raids, and shinies. However, there could be more showcases active simultaneously, and with varying qualifications for entry. That way you have a much better chance to use the XXL or (perish the thought) XXS sentret or slugma you just picked up. Even having roaming NPCs with small side quests or battle requirements would be better😊

All the veteran players like myself for 6+ years or probably just gonna shiny hunt the new costume and possibly get mega energy if we even use megas I know some players that don't 😅
I might be by myself but im enjoying recycled pokemon right now. Especially when its 2x stardust. I know i dont have to worry about IVs or anything else. Just catch and transfer unless its a hundo, nundo or shiny. It also a chance to take a break from grinding the game because there's nothing to really chase.

Hows good if Niantic released 8th generation for 8th anniversary.I means to say they can skip gen 9 in previous year & wait until the 9th anniversary. Where they're able to released gen 9.
Meh… I’ll go for the Meltan box, and I dig the friendship bonuses. Don’t care about the other bonuses except the double XP/Starudust. If Gimmighoul coins didn’t take up space in your bag I’d like that too.
You know how much harder it is trying to catch starters?
You can only get 1 shiny celebi. If you have one already you can't buy the tickets. But you still get bonuses reward.

Yeah right! Odds are not as good as they sound. Almost 49k trades = roughly 2k lucky pokemon and only 44 were 100%. I have one lucky shundo and one legendary lundo

Very weak event for an Anniversary Event. Make it 4/5X XP/Stardust for two days each. Something almost everyone would be excited for. A new Pokemon (besides costume) would have been nice. Another event that caters to newer players only.
Don’t sugarcoat it Count. This event is bad. There’s nothing worth hunting for & given how a lot of players are feeling about the state of the game, I have no interest until Global Go Fest

As a 2016 veteran who plays on and off for past 8 years it’s insane to me how many people whine and complain. Yall are goofy. It’s a video game. Relax. It’s NOT all about YOU!
Spiriggato, Quaxly, and Fuecoco can kick rocks. None of them can be shiny so they’re literally just a complete waste of space in the wild as spawns. Nobody cares to catch them. I play the game for shiny dex that’s it. I also like to catch legendaries as well, but mostly the shiny dex. The fact they added Spirigatto fuecoco and quaxly is just plain stupid. If they can’t be shiny or you’re not willing to create their shiny then KEEP THEM OUT OF EVENTS! We already see them constantly in the wild, so why the hell would you even add them to this event? They’re not even wearing hats either so they’re all pointless! Just like Pikapek! Another pointless pokemon in the wild along with Smoliv!! All pointless!
Lame ass event, shiny celebi is nice for people who didnt have one already but there is just nothing here to show appreciation for having a game running this long. A new mega, even one of the mediocre ones would be have been a perfect time to drop one
