    I have always wanted to do this and gave up because 'no way anyone actually does that/ has resources available' and watching your videos has inspired me to give it a try! I will have to watch these again when I get all the materials together.

      Just use proper ventilation when soldering! I did it outside and still breathed in fumes. :’) I had to add a box fan as well.

    Electrical engineer here, I’m so glad that you are using the tip tinner! Not only does it help with picking up solder, but if you tin the tip after use, it helps clean the flux residue off and helps prevent corrosion, helping your tips to last longer. I always tin the tip before I turn my iron off for the day. Love the video!

    Ahhh I’m so happy I found this video! I recently started jewelry soft soldering but my solder doesn’t run smoothly. Sometimes it even stuck onto the piece I was working on when I tried to go back over it. And I thought I either wasn’t applying enough flux or was applying too much but that didn’t seem to be it. So I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong because I haven’t seen many tutorials. And they never really gave a specific temperature to start with. Now I’m gonna order some of that cleaning stuff from the beginning and increase the temperature to see if that helps me out.

    So beautiful! Your work and videos have pushed me to take the step to try stained glass work.❤ I've worked with glass, made marbles and some other glass pieces, but sculpting with clay has always been my world. I started in highschool with large blocks of natural clay and just fell in love. I also work with oven bake and air dry clay,and I love carving bone dry clay, which was frowned upon back when I was a teenager because of the danger, but apparently it's a big thing now?

    How did they do this in middle ages without a solder

    • @AlbredaWelde
      @AlbredaWelde Месяц назад

      Soldering, in different forms has been around for approximately 4000 years or more. It used to be done with a big, clunky iron heated over fire repeatedly as it was used and cooled. Old school stained glass is done with "came" U or H shaped channels made of lead which encase the glass. Came is cut to fit the edges and spot soldered at the joints. The copper foil technique came about in the 1890s and is sometimes referred to as the Tiffany technique after its creator, Louis Comfort Tiffany. She is doing Tiffany style stained glass. This was not done in the middle ages.
