I love the first item on your video, the dark blue, I think, sweater. The top two buttons moved over is very clever. It looks so unique and chic. Really a nice look.
Thank you so much Joy for the mention. It was quite a surprise to hear my podcast mentioned while I watched. Your blanket turned out so well. Such an heirloom piece. And, the cardigan that you are wearing is so beautiful. Looks wonderful on you too. Best wishes and wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
Nice episode! Beautiful afghan. Love the color of your sweater. Cables are fun!!!! Hope Janet’s husband is well soon. Look forward to seeing your Advent Stocking. We fill the mittens and stockings for our grandsons. I ordered 2 Advent skeins this year. So far I’m keeping up ( Day 3!). lol!
It was interesting to see you Kitchener stitching with one row of live stitches and one row of side stitches. At least that is what I think you were doing. I have come to you via Margaret of My Wonderful Knitting Life. I also was in Ireland in May, and at Rhinebeck in October. I’m in Ontario, Canada.
Welcome to Quail's Knitting Nest! How interesting that we were in the same places, about the same times this year! You must be my soul-traveler, lol. Yes, I was grafting the live stitches to the selvedge stitches on the blocks of my afghan.
Your blanket is a work of art! Congrats on finishing it! I love the sweater you’re making for your husband. A friend of mine made that and her son loves it. If you are looking for an easy care tweed yarn, may I suggest Deluxe DK Tweed Superwash from Universal Yarns. I have it in my stash for a future sweater and it has a great put up at an excellent price. I don’t participate in any holiday mystery/advent projects. It’s mostly because time is so precious and I need to know what the end result will look like before I invest in the hours (and the yarn!) in knitting something that I don’t love. I’ve been sorely disappointed in the couple of mystery KALs I’ve done in the past. Still, I’m going to look at the Christmas stocking you’re working on! I like your colors! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well as Janet and her husband. Glad to hear he’s ok!
Thanks, Margie! I have used the Deluxe worsted superwash before for a sweater for Jim; I'll have to look into the tweed. I agree about investing hours in a project and then not liking the result! It is not often I do a knit-a-long, let alone a mystery. I figured I was pretty safe with an Arne & Carlos stocking, as I like most of their previous stocking designs. Merry Christmas!
Oh, thank you for sharing! I have a friend who is doing the same (actually two different ones!) and they are coming along nicely, with great striping colors. I might have to look into that next year.
Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh!! I am so in awe of your afghan! I've watched as you've shown off the squares, but the finished afghan is so incredible. And kitchnering it! I don't even like to kitchener my socks. And rhe brown looks great for the border. By the way, I am working on my first pair of socks with the Arne and Carlos short heels. I watched your video many times, and Arne knitting his too. But your camera angle is much better for seeing how it is worked. Are your dpns metal and wood? I like the flap and gusset heels I've used before, but I don't like knitting the gusset because it takes forever, and I have to use dpns while I do the rest with magic loop. The short row heel is certainly faster, well see how it wears.🙂 And those tweed yarns are really beautiful with all the colors included. I don't knit anything special for Christmas. Maybe if I could knit faster. I am planning my first sweater, the Twila sweater by Christina Korber-Reith for my husband. He picked the pattern and the yarn on line, so hope he likes the tweed yarn when it arrives. Looks simple enough for a first attempt. Hope Janet is back with you next podcast!
The dpns I use are Karbonz www.yarn.com/products/knitter-s-pride-karbonz-double-pointed-needles-8 They have nickel tips and the center black portion is carbon fiber, very strong like metal but warm and a little sticky, like bamboo. I hope all goes well with your Twila sweater. The pouch pockets are fun.
Joy, the afghan is fabulous! So happy to see it all put together!❤ So. Much. Grafting!
Thanks! Wait until you see the new future afghan. Even. More. Grafting.

You are welcome, and thank YOU! I hope you are keeping warm up in the great white north.
It is not too cold yet. Luckily I have all of my warm sweaters to keep me cozy.

I'm glad you are keeping up so far with your Advent doings. I look forward to seeing what you make.

I do the 24 stripe advent sock where you knit one stripe a day.
