  • (28 Mar 2018) 2018 COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED
It is finally their time: Ricky Skaggs, Johnny Gimble and Dottie West will be the 2018 Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees.
Country stars Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks introduced Skaggs and the families of West and Gimble in Nashville Tuesday (27 MARCH 2018).
Gimble will be inducted in the "Recording and/or Touring Musician" category, which is awarded every third year in rotation with the "Songwriter" and "Non-Performer" categories.
His son Dick said of the country star who passed away in 2015 that "it was as important for him to be a really good man, as to be a really great fiddler."
While his daughter Cyndy reminisced after the press conference that "He just played every chance he got. He told everybody, 'How do you make it in the music business?' He'd go 'Play every chance you get'" and "Be real lucky."
Dottie West, who will be inducted in the "Veterans Era Artist" category, was represented by friend Jeannie Seely, her son Kerry West and her granddaughter, Tess Frizzell Bishop.
"This is such a big win for all of us," said Frizzell Bishop to the press. "I mean, her fans, her family, her friends, people who have not forgotten her, and also every little girl that dares to dream big."
Seely, a country music legend in her own right, remembered the singer who died in 1991.
"To me, as a friend, she always held herself up and the courage she showed to go on through everything always was so inspiring to me."
Ricky Skaggs, who will join the "Modern Era Artist" category, joked in the press conference "to all my, all my fans out there that think that, thought that I was already a member of the of the Hall of Fame, today makes it official."
Skaggs, admitted he'd been waiting for years for his name to be called out and he was "really shocked" when it finally happened.
"People say 'hey, man, you know, it's its gonna happen, it's gonna happen, you know'...I say 'well, yeah, it's OK.' If it never happens, I'm still gonna, you know, I'm gonna love this town, I'm gonna love country music, I'm gonna love the CMA."
A formal induction ceremony will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in the CMA Theater later this year.

Dearest Ms. Jeannie Sealy, a lot of people on RUclips want to see Mr. Gene Watson inducted into the Country Music HOF. Hoping this can happen as so many of the singers I grew up listening to are gone now. Thank you for your consideration of my request. And I want you to know what a beautiful lady you are! You look so young too. I miss hearing you sing but I do have your songs on one of my playlists. Take care & God bless you!!

@WILD WOMAN Oh yes, Gene should be in the Hall. There are several country artists that for some reason are not members yet. I believe they are all more than deserving. They are: Hank Williams, Jr., Tanya Tucker, Johnny Horton, Dwight Yoakam, Janie Fricke, John Denver and the The Judds.
