@@lovelymusicnow4404 Kevin Smith refuses to Actually direct people. With his own friends, he's ok, but with All other professional actors they either Walk all over him or hate him for Not directing.
The craziest thing about Kevin Smith is any stand up comedian will tell you they spend up to a year writing an hour of material and then months and months touring small venues and seeing what works and what doesn’t work and taking stuff out, trying things in different ways etc before they eventually feel confident enough to film it. Kevin walks into a venue completely unarmed and talks for hours and it’s literally worthy of a comedy special 🤯
He's stated he works with pre written bits in one of the Evenings With. Though some of the stuff is off the top, like the q&a banter. He does tell stories over. Just not as frequent as comedians honing their jokes. Hell, some of the stories he tells end up in movies.
@@silenttbanshee I mean he tells stories about his real life on stage so you have to assume he’s told them all before. But he’s done stand up shows that weren’t even real stand up shows. He’s done college Q and A’s that just became unofficial stand up shows because they were so funny. They weren’t supposed to be anything. He just answered questions for two hours and they were so funny they kind of became known as pseudo stand up. and he carried that into his actual stand up. Most of his stand ups are just Q and A’s if not all of them. And even though he’s just repeating stories he’s told his fiends before he’s still going in not knowing what they’re going to say.
"You're from Jersey, I'm from Jersey, we should do something together". Yes, they have done. An amazing piece of shit called Copout, despite all the amazing previous work directed by Smith.
@kilibot well, i kind of halfway agree with you on that. cop out wasn't all that great. it had a few good moments in there, but all in all, just not what i was hoping for on a kevin smith movie. but also, to be a little fair, it wasn't his script, his screen play, or even produced by scott mosier. he was just hired on by warner brothers to direct, and brought on dave klein for cinematography. i'm sure if it was his story line, and his production, it may have come out a little differently...
@tymcfly07 i actually enjoyed Cop Out to a certain extent. If you went into it thinking it was going to be a Kevin Smith movie, then you were obviously dead wrong. I went into it being unbiased about the fact that it was the first movie he ever solely directed and didn't write, and i enjoyed the movie for what it was and didnt try to constantly compare it to his other work. Was it his best work? No, but i don't think he deserved all the shit he got from it.
@ILLER121 They did do something together. It's called Cop Out, there's a trailer out for it. I gotta say, judging by the trailer it looks like it may be the first unfunny movie by Kevin Smith......
I totally agree with you... but the director has a massive influence on how the diaglouge is delivered and perceived. Again though I do agree with you.
Kevin Smith should write a horror film with Bruce Willis as a relentless killer ...no motivation ...just a psychotic fiendish killer who is also a well-known defense attorney by day.
@Meda01 I agree that he isn't doing comedy. It's more of a spoken word thing, like Henry Rollins does. But I wouldn't give anyone a hard time for thinking that he is. It sure looks and sounds like stand up. He's talking in front of people making them laugh. Give them a break.
Well, unless you believe his stories about filming it, in which case he had no influence whatsoever. Which kinda makes a person wonder what he did do as director, but I digress...
Hollywood has a dark side? You mean people aren't always one dimensional celebrities as we would like them to be? Imagine that! Bruce Willis is a flawed human being. Good to know you can get on a personal level with Kevin Smith and he'll be a discrete professional about it. The "cool outsider" who just happens to be an "inside" is a pretty affable schtick, for a celebrity like Smith.
Cop Out is out today ANY ONE see it yet? I went to see the The Crazies cause my friend does not like KS I think she is out of her mind. The Crazies was good but I did not like the ending.
both should apologize to each other, Kevin should write something for Willis, Willis has to accept Kevin and just get another director man, one who knows his lenses if its such a big issue for Willis. :P
@Doctorstrange37 It is. You had to go out of your way to correct a stranger (which is a horrible trait) about something nobody gives a shit about. You need. To relax.
Willis does quirk well when he wants to be funny, Smith should actually not get stage fright (like when he almost didn't write the Daredevil comic cuz of Miller's famous run) and do this. Look what 30 Rock has done for Alec Baldwin...a movie from Kevin could benefit both of them.
kevin is very self concious about his weight. So on stage he wears the coat to kind of diffuse his size. He has even said as much in other Even With dvd. " Which is why I will be wearing the coat all night..." Hope that answers your question critias7
Perfect mic drop, both the timing and the trajectory. Didn't bounce it or roll it offstage, got exactly the right sound.
that's not sweat. it's his heart crying.
💀
I feel so bad watching this and knowing how much of a disaster their future collaboration turns into...
All because he can't direct certain personalities.

How great would this be: Jay and Silent Bob 2 - and Jay learns the identity of his father... played by Bruce Willis!!!!!
drop the mic! I laughed so hard

I love clerks, the humor in it is right up my alley.
There needs to be a cut of this place before his thoughts about Bruce after Cop Out. This clip is so much funnier in the proper context.
its a Q&A not spoken word like henry rollins, he doesnt plan anything he just answers questions and tells stories that come to mind
i forgot kevin was in die hard 4
Those shows he does are primarily about his experiences as a filmmaker. He's obviously gonna fill the night with a lot of anecdotes.

Kevin is a great storyteller.
That’s why he CAN be a great writer
my son and i were there.......in the dvd and at the party
@StinaPrep for the record he didnt write it, it wasnt quite a full kevin smith movie
@Meda01 Whatever man. From where I'm standing, this is better than stand-up comedy.
Kevin is wearing the coat from Jay & Silent Bob. cool.
@hitman036
No, this is the explanation of how "Cop Out" the movie happened
People are lined up in the isles to ask questions.
dude this was a QnA, someone asked the question, he had to answer it
This was after working and writing that scene on Die Hard 4, and before they worked on Cop Out together, where Bruce allegedly had a fit.
omg i was lawling so freaking hard at this whole bit. I love kevin smith

@Accisma I assume that's SMODcast. Just wondering, which episode does he talk about working with Bruce Willis?
The empty seats are because people were lined up on the sides to ask a question.
Bruce made 50 calls just like that one to Kevin on that day.
what was the music in the begining
Silent bob's uncle?
Uncle Bob??

He didn't write cop-out he directed it. If on the other hand he both wrote and directed It most likley would have been much better.

Sad thing is that this movie is were Die Hard stop being Die Hard :(
He's probably fine with the coat without the hot lights on him. If you wear a coat long enough your body gets used to it.
1. Clerks.
2. Dogma
3. Clerks 2
4. Mallrats
5. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
