    In the U.S. ABS is black and PVC is white. Sizes might be different too - we use inches as God intended.

    Thank you! I’m in the states, so I had to do a little imperial math conversion, but this video was perfect and exactly what I needed to know, and no fluff! Excellent material.

    Very interesting video. In the United States ABS is black and most commonly used for dvw systems. PVC is white in color and use for dvw and sprinkler systems in ground. Within the last year I have found abs having been damaged perhaps by drain cleaners causing pipe to split both down its length and tangentially. Also as a rule PVC is more expensive than abs. Probably the nicest thing about using abs and dvw systems, is the fact that no primer is necessary and the adhesive is also black.

    I couldn't even figure out what my question was until you answered it. ABS is ductile! And it has better impact strength too. I want to make a self-defense type cane out of it and this sounds very promising. Thank You!

    which is better for being out in the sun everyday? Which has more structural value? Looking for something that will keep water inside hotter and take 30psi. Know where I can get black 4 inch ABS?

      Hi there! None of them like the sun all day, they will bleach after a period of time. PVC will start to turn white probably after a couple of years which makes it more brittle. ABS, which is much lighter in colour, will take longer to bleach - maybe 3 years. ABS has the best structural value, it is not brittle like PVC. Black ABS is not produced in Europe unfortunately. Pressure of 30psi is no problem to PVC or ABS. Keeping water warm inside can only be done with a pipe lagging: www.pipelagging.com/

    Am trying to tell differences between hdpe and abs am trying to identify some 1 inch black pollie pipe i have laying around no markings am in central usa if makes any difference

      Hi, if the pipe you are trying to identify has a waxy feeling and is bendy, then it is likely PE pipe. If it is rigid it could be PVC or ABS. Another way to check is, if there's any joints, you can send a photo in to us and we can determine what it is for you.

    Can you please answer this question:
    for 2 inch diameter PVC pipes, what size fittings would be right, Should the elbow fittings be above 2inch in diamter, ?

    • @PlasticPipeShopTV
      @PlasticPipeShopTV  6 лет назад +1

      Hello. You should use 2 inch fittings. The 2 inch fittings will have sockets built in to them and the pipe will slide into the socket.

    My pipe says PVC but it says made out of ABS plastic. Why's this?

    • @PlasticPipeShopTV

      I have come across some white swimming pool pipe that has said PVC and is actually ABS plastic before. This is an error on the part of the manufacturer.
