And so Calderstone Productions, the UK sub of UMG that owns the rights to The Beatles music, is allowing some Beatles music to now be played on RUclips for the time being. Not sure for how long but we are grateful to them for allowing it.
And now we are in the process of looking through our Beatles archive and releasing those uploads that were previously put on hold from years past. This is good news folks. Enjoy!
    +1st Pass
"I'll Cry Instead" by The Beatles
    Words & Music by - Lennon-McCartney
    Lyrics -
+1st Pass - Usually indicates that a lesser audio source(vinyl pressing) was used to create the transfer. Also, very little, if any, audio restoration treatments are applied on a 1st Pass. Therefore, it is highly likely that you will hear various degrees of audio distortion throughout. If and when a better audio source is acquired, a second transfer/restoration project will eventually ensue as part of a 2nd Pass and depending on the results, a full scale audio restoration will usually also accompany the 2nd Pass for much better results.

The Beatles' "I'll Cry Instead" features a straightforward and country-tinged structure, deviating from their usual complex arrangements in the early-mid 1960s. Here's a breakdown:
Key: G major, with a modulation to D major for the bridge
    Tempo: 4/4 (common time)
    Structure:
    Intro (One Measure - 0:00 - 0:03):
A brief instrumental intro featuring the rhythm guitar parts and tambourine from the first three measures of the verse, minus the bass and drums.
    Verse 1 (12 Measures - 0:03 - 0:34):
The first verse introduces the song's theme of heartbreak and the narrator's attempt to conceal their sadness. The verse melody and chord progression establish the country music influence.
    Verse 2 (12 Measures - 0:34 - 1:05):
The second verse follows the same melodic and lyrical structure as the first verse, offering more details about the situation.
    Bridge (8 Measures - 1:05 - 1:22):
A contrasting bridge section modulates to D major, creating a brief moment of musical tension. The lyrics express the narrator's internal struggle to maintain composure.
    Verse 3 (12 Measures - 1:22 - 1:53):
The third verse returns to the original melody and key (G major), potentially signifying a continuation of the emotional state.
    Optional (depending on the version)
    Verse 4 (12 Measures - 1:53 - 2:24) [Mono Mix Only]:
The mono mix features a repeated fourth verse, extending the song's length.
    Repeated Section (both versions)
    Bridge (8 Measures - 2:24 - 2:41):
The bridge section repeats, maintaining the D major key and contrasting melody.
    Verse 5 (12 Measures - 2:41 - 3:12):
The song concludes with a fifth verse in the original key (G major) and melody, potentially hinting at acceptance or resignation.
    Outro (Instrumental Fade-Out - 3:12 - 3:17):
The song fades out with the rhythm guitar part from the intro, bringing the story to a close.
    Key Points:
Simple Verse-Bridge Structure: The song primarily utilizes a verse-bridge structure, with a repeated bridge section for emphasis.
Country Music Influence: The instrumentation, melody, and chord structure draw inspiration from country music, a notable stylistic choice for The Beatles at that time.
Emotional Restraint: The repeated verses and straightforward structure convey a sense of emotional control, aligning with the lyrics about hiding one's sorrow.
Mono Mix Variation: The mono mix features an additional verse, potentially adding to the emotional depth or simply extending the song's length.
"I'll Cry Instead" demonstrates The Beatles' ability to experiment with different genres and create a memorable song using a simple yet effective structure.

    [Verse 1]
I've got every reason on earth to be mad
Cause I've just lost the only girl I had
If I could get my way
I'd get myself locked up today
    But I can't so I'll cry instead
    [Verse 2]
I've got a chip on my shoulder that's bigger than my feet
I can't talk to people that I meet
If I could see you now
I'd try to make you sad somehow
    But I can't so I'll cry instead
    [Bridge]
Don't wanna cry when there's people there
I get shy when they start to stare
    I'm gonna hide myself away-hey
But I'll come back again someday
    [Verse 3]
And when I do you better hide all the girls
I'm gonna break their hearts all 'round the world
Yes, I'm gonna break 'em in two
And show you what your loving man can do
    Until then I'll cry instead
    [Bridge]
Don't wanna cry when there's people there
I get shy when they start to stare
    I'm gonna hide myself away-hey
But I'll come back again someday
    [Verse 3]
And when I do you better hide all the girls
'Cause I'm gonna break their hearts all 'round the world
Yes, I'm gonna break 'em in two
And show you what your loving man can do
    Until then I'll cry instead

George's guitar playing here was influenced by Chet Atkins, whom he idolized. When Chet did a Beatles tribute album in 1966 ("Chet Atkins Picks On The Beatles"), George was happy enough to provide the liner notes to one of his guitar heroes.
