Always read Bhagavad Gita that is interpreted by a Krishna devotee bcz it is unfiltered, unadulterated. A devotee understands Lord Krishna better. The best Bhagavad Gita is 'Bhagavad Gita as it is' by Srila Prabhupada. It is as it is spoken by Krishna. Krishna's message is perfectly explained and concluded in this book.

In my experience, the whole essence of Gita is to become the Krishna itself in breath. This can be done in accumulating vast knowledge he has given through various scriptures from different sages. But this task is impossible in the nature of reality we are in. The shortcut is to drop the limited I and see everything as his doing by becoming just an observer to everything around us. All the verses reflect with us every second. He can't be understood unless the "I" has gone completely.
