  • German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has been re-elected for a second five-year term.
The 66-year old Social Democrat and former foreign minister received more than two thirds of the votes cast by an electoral assembly made up of politicians, civil society figures and celebrities. Steinmeier had the support of all three parties of Germany's governing coalition. Nominally the head of state, the role of president is largely ceremonial in German politics.
In his acceptance speech, Steinmeier urged Germany and its allies to do everything to prevent war in Europe.

I wonder why no news outlet has noted that Steinmeier’s re-election makes him the first SPD head of state in German history to be re-elected. Every SPD President since the Weimar Republic has only served one term. An interesting little fact that I haven’t seen reported anywhere, not even Wikipedia.

    • @paradoxmo
      @paradoxmo 2 года назад +1

Because the President in a parliamentary system takes the place of a monarch (i.e. head of state), so they have ceremonial and diplomatic powers, not governmental ones. They just preside over the state, they don’t run it. The chancellor as head of government is like the prime minister in most parliamentary democracies.
In a presidential system like the U.S., the president is both head of state and head of government.

Europe cannot take peace for granted. The US has been saying this for many years, yet our complaints that other countries are not meeting defense spending commitments seem to continually fall on deaf ears. It seems many Europeans think that they have somehow evolved beyond the uncivilized behavior of war, that such things have been rendered obsolete. Sadly, this is wishful thinking. Will Europe wake up from this dream? Well, the Baltic countries and Poland seem to be well aware, having recently escaped Soviet domination not too long ago. They are eagerly awaiting a German reawakening, hoping for more than just helmets. Meanwhile, Putin seems to have Germany wrapped around his little finger, thanks to their energy needs. Time to reboot those nuclear reactors, and tell Putin where he can shove his precious oil and gas!

I can go on and on. 😁🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺💪🏻

Russias wealth and might is so great, it almost compares to that of Italy. No really, the GDP of Russia is only slightly smaller than Italies. For a few months in 2014, the russian GDP even surpassed that of Italy. And not to mention the agriculturally usable land on crimea growing to 20.000 ha in 2020 from the depressing pre-annexation figure of merely 140.000 ha. They even started rationing drinking water for the population. And the glorious Sputnik vaccine, which admittedly is less effective than Moderna or Biontech, but that doesn't matter, since it's the only approved vaccine in Russia anyways. Russia is so marvelous, that they even supply other countries with Sputnik, even though there isn't enough to vaccinate the people of Russia. Smart decisions like that have kept the deahs from CoViD in Russia as low as 330.000. Don't get confused by the excess mortality of Russia in the same timeframe amounts to 930.000 deaths in excess over pre-pandemic years. There is nothing that this could imply. Russia is so radiant and mighty, that almost all of its former socialist brother nations have asked their former sworn enemy NATO for protection. Truly glorious!

I suppose you do realize that your anti-Russian chanting is nothing more but a bunch of wet dreams/delusions, clueless nonsense, repetitive misconceptions, toxic twaddle and boring rant of some typical brainwashed anti-Russia troll.
It’s only good for a cheesy stand-up comedy show. 😉
✅ Ukrainian authorities in Kiev deliberately cut off the only Crimean water supply completely after 2014, although the “North-Crimean canal” was built by the all of the USSR in the Soviet times. And still despite this water blockade and inhuman provocation from the Ukrainian side Russia has managed to build sufficient water stations and found water resources to provide Crimea with fresh water.
✅ Russian vaccine Sputnik V is one of the best and most popular in the world (top 3). “Lancet”, “Nature” and other influential science journals called it “effective and safe”. Bloomberg in their article called it “the biggest Russian scientific breakthrough since the USSR era”.
70 countries of the world officially registered and certified it with 2 billion units. Russian population is 60% jabbed which isn’t that bad.
✅ Technically the Western salary may be bigger, but the cost of life is MUCH bigger as well. Just one example: average public utilities bill in the West is 400-500€, and in Russia it’s 50€. Not to mention gas prices etc.
✅ Russia is the 5th-largest economy in Europe, the world's 11th-largest economy by nominal GDP, and the 6th-largest by PPP. Russia is a great power, and is considered a potential superpower. It is ranked very high in the Human Development Index, with a universal healthcare system, and a free university education. Russia is also one of the most educated nations in the world.
      Moving on:
      *GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS INDEX*
According to the *Global Competitiveness Index (published by the World Economic Forum)* which assesses the ability of countries to provide high levels of prosperity to their citizens, Russia 🇷🇺 is ranked 43th, right next to Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Lithuania, Malta etc. Which is pretty average for Europe, I must admit.
Whereas Ukraine 🇺🇦 is ranked 85th next to Sri Lanka, Moldova, Algeria, Tunis, Lebanon.
Go to Wiki: *GDP (nominal) per capita.*
There’s a map of countries there.
      🟩 green color means rich
🟨 yellow color means middle income
      🟥 red color means poor
      Let’s see.
*Africa is red 🟥 (just like Ukraine, Mongolia and Cambodia)*
*Russia is yellow 🟨 (just like Argentina, China and Poland)*
*Oopsie, I’ve just triumphantly debunked your anti-Russian nonsense. So please stop lying about Russia.* 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🪆🪆🪆❤️❤️❤️

Crimea is an integral part of Russia for 8 years already (again and RIGHTFULLY) the same way as Moscow, Sochi or Kaliningrad. Crimea doesn’t want to have anything to do with Ukraine anymore after they peacefully and festively rejoined Russia. Respect their choice and decision.
