I ended up fixing my old GE HydroWave washer. Very happy with my old machine. It had a bad tub seal and motor etc. Got a cheap motor on eBay and other parts from Amazon. It was a huge pain to fix but, we are very happy now. Here is a link to an overview of the repair: ruclips.net/video/SfuuRVaI9CI/видео.html I used Permatex Indian head gasket shellac to glue the tub seal in but, that stuff will fail and cause a leak. Use E6000 instead, it's very good stuff. If you are looking for a good washing machine, consider Speed Queen.
You’ve located it. Like all new top loaders other than Speed Queen modern top loaders don’t have transmissions but reversing motors with open gearboxes. The motors are actually quiet but the gearboxes are open and aside from being open most are made of really cheap materials.
@@LlyleHunter the gearboxes are pretty sturdy. but GE did NOTHING to waterproof the bearings which would have cost them pennies. when the bearings get wet and the grease goes, the gearbox is done. americans are being taken for a ride with planned failure built in. and then the machine goes to a landfill. is that good for the environment that the govt screams about ? we are a dog chasing our tail in this nation.
We just purchased this machine and were shocked by how loud it is. It sounds like someone continually trying to crank the engine on a car. We so wish that we had watched your video before we bought this machine. We really miss our 27-year-old Kenmore washer. Even with the leaky drum that could not be repaired it's still did a good job of washing and did so quietly
John, that was a good move to get rid of this washer and repair your old one. I've had it for 4 months and it's been a struggle. Thanks for keeping your video posted. Maybe others can avoid the misery.
We purchased this 500 series recently ! I had no problem with the noise but when a load got off balance, I thought the inside would explode from the severe pounding. Now I am in the habit of NEVER leaving the washer unattended so I can shut it down if necessary. Will not buy again.
So, you've searched RUclips, and ended up here. You have our sympathies!. if you can send it back, do so! it's just so convoluted and counter-intuitive to use, the noise is the least of it! *Make sure it's level !!!* Read the owners manual. We've had ours 10 months. We wanted a simple model (We didn't need one that can talk to NASA) And we ended up with this.... Good luck!
Thanks so much for recording the sound and for showing the gap where the spray gets behind the washer tub and sprays on the inside wall of the washer. So important to know before I buy, if I do buy!
Thanks for the information. Ours was delivered today and I was on the phone to the place I purchased it before the second load was finished. The appliance department folks had no idea what I was talking about. Surely I'm not the first person to question the unearthly groans coming from my new washing machine. I'll be haunting the estate sales looking for a 20 year old Maytag -- simple and reliable.
Same goes for Maytag. When you’ve had the Maytag 6 months and they have to come and completely replace tub and motor , then you buy no more Maytags. By the way, my Maytag made more noise than this GE.
Im listening to this washer in my house brand new first load and it doesn’t sound as loud as this video but it does have a similar sound pattern so it’s working well. It’s actually very quiet. I just don’t know when it’s ready it’s still washing the first load now for more than an hour.
Just got this washer on the recommendation of our local appliance shop after our 19 yo Maytag stopped working. Even my hard of hearing dad noticed the loud sound from all the way across the room. I don’t like it! Just sent a message to the shop to see if I can exchange it. Sent feedback to GE as well. The old Maytag was great.
My wife and I have a similar GE washer that makes a lot of noise, but to be honest the longer you have it the less noticable it is. Now when we do laundry the sound doesn't even bother us and the fact that it cleans really well makes a difference. We leave the lid up on the washer after washing to allow the drum to air dry which keeps odors from forming when the lid is down due to excess moisture getting trapped in. Leaving the lid up also helps against any rust issues that might occur. Occasionally using washing machine cleaning tablets every few months helps get rid of any soap residue and gunk that might develop in between the inner and outer tub.
We bought this 6 years ago and you were correct about water spraying causing rust. Our rust is so bad we just had to buy a new washer - so tired of buying expensive appliances that only last a few years😢
I saved about $250 for the pair and got the Hotpoint models that are just like this. Made at the same factory. Same noise. Most new things can't compete with their older counterparts.
I just bought this same exact model Oct 30, 2023. I had my old whirlpool for 20 years and it was a dream! It was nice and quiet and washed large loads without any problem! Then it finally died but it gave me 20 happy years. So I ended up buying this GE Washing Machine less than 3 months ago and it is so noisy! The spin cycle is the worst! The most common reason is the banging sounds when the load is unbalanced and throws it out of whack. It does this frequently when you have a somewhat heavy load like towels or small floor rugs. I have a queen size light weight bedspread and blanket and when I put only the bedspread by itself, during the spin cycle it will throw if off balance the loud banging sounds will wake up a bear! Well, it's not that bad but it is when you're trying to sleep or relax and read. I have to shut the laundry and my bedroom door. It does a nice job washing clothes though but next time I have to get another washing machine it will be a Whirlpool instead!
I have the exact same machine . I purchased it a few months ago. It’s in my basement and it’s still quite loud ! The causal cycle is the permanent press cycle on this machine .. and it really beats the clothes up ! It does wash well . And good luck washing pillows !!!!!! OMG ! I made sure to have two pillows in the machine and it still fell out of balance and actually skipped out of place ! Where it was originally and professionally installed on a concrete basement floor !!!
That’s exactly what I have. Haven’t had anything but trouble with it. You can not do a small load as it will start knocking and not wring them out good.
Thanks for posting this video. I have the same model and nearly panicked at that grinding noise. It's obnoxious but with the laundry door closed I don't mind it so much. It's certainly better than the decades old dino-washer that finally went to laundry heaven recently. The GE cleans my clothes far better, doesn't shake the entire house when it spins, and I love the quick cycle. The features are good and it was nice going from a 3.9 "ish" tub to a 4.5. As far as reliability, that remains to be seen. I don't have super dirty clothes so other folks might need something that feels more sturdy like more expensive direct drive motor. Some reviews I've seen on other websites by repair techs rated GE appliances in the top 3-4 for repairability and reliability. Here's hoping...
We purchased one of these a few days ago and have done 6 or 7 loads so far with great results. As opposed to most other models available today this one allows you to select your own water level which is a huge plus. It fills almost all the way to the top if you select max fill and deep fill. Rinse cycle is the same way if deep rinse is selected. Over all we're very happy with it. Give me a break with the noise already. It's not that bad. If you're going to compare this machine to an old school machine and expect the same apples to apples sounds and performance then it won't happen not only with this machine but with anything else you purchase. Speed Queen was mentioned and while it is a good washer it still is not the machine it was 30 years ago. The SQ has a small capacity rating at 3.2 and the GE at 4.5. The one SQ says is their old school machine is over 1,400.00 and I paid 498.00 for the GE at Lowes on sale. So there you have it folks, just my 2 cents on this subject.
SQ is king tho. No maintenance for years to come if treated right and will last my life time. It’s a high quality INVESTMENT vs a budget washer made by a declining company that cuts corners to match their price, that’s all. I for one look into long term benefits than the short when it comes to appliances I want to Last. That’s just me though
I just received mine two weeks ago and mine makes the same noise but I don't like the sound of the dryer signal, even on medium it is really loud, they should fix that
Just had mine delivered the other day. It makes the same sound. At first I was alarmed, but I can get used to the sounds. As long as it cleans well and is durable, I'm OK with the sound.
I have a question I just bought this washer today and does the lid only lock on precise fill? I set my water level to high and max and the lid lock doesn’t go on. It only works with precise fill.. is that normal? Or is it faulty?
ABSOLUTELY, I WILL NEVER BUY A POS HIGH EFFICIENCY MACHINE EVER AGAIN...DEFEATS THE PURPOSE WHEN U HAVE TO REWASH CLOTHES AGAIN IN A HALF GALLON OF DAMN WATER!!
Exactly, I had a junk low water maytag that basically ruined clothes.. I'm much happier that at least this one puts in enough water to properly wash clothes.
I agree with all. Unfortunately, I already bought it. I noticed the water splashing yesterday. Gladly I can shut the laundry room door for the sound. Also, the dryer alarm is so loud when it finish 🤦🏽♂️
They just installed this an hour ago and on the first load, I was convinced it was broken. The motor sounds like it's dying during agitation. I had the urge to put starter fluid in the carburetor, lol. It sounds like this is the "new normal" for noise levels though. Very irritating.
GE has to know their washers are annoying crap buckets compared to sturdy, reliable, quiet and long lasting ones of long ago. I miss my old one too, the main bearing on the bottom was starting to dribble out a few ones each load. I cut some 1/8th inch aquarium tubing one end slanted like needle and glued it in the weep hole, snaked the rest around exhaust line into sewer pipe. Worked perfectly fine, but "somebody " wanted a new one. We should have kept it as backup for everytime the new one fails.
Mines 6 months old. Whines so bad, thought it was the motor dying already. So that noise is normal?? I'm noticing that it won't fill when selecting the FILL it all the way button. Wont cover the clothes. I just poured 4 buckets of water on top so it would wash correctly, and won't over work the motor. But now im sitting here babysitting it. Infuriating!
Before buying I replaced the hub on my Whirlpool 6 or 7 times. The appliance repair store employyees said not to buy LG or Samsung, they break down and are hard to work on. Whirlpool, Maytag and GE are all made in the US and last longer. I guess you have to decide how much you want to spend and find the right model. Do your research. I have only had this machine one day but so far am very happy.
Dude!!!! I just went to Best Buy to take a look at this machine. Thank goodness I watched this video. I’ll try and have my old machine repaired. Thank you.
I bought one of these today and when I heard that noise I thought it was defective. My cheap ge washer lasted 15 years and the agitator just swished back and forth. This thing sounds like it’s struggling and I’m not sure how it’s washing anything.
Mine does the same thing. U can search for how to put in diagnostic mode and find what’s wrong with it.. mine was just out of balance. The beeping was soooo annoying.
I just bought the GE G033 which is the base model and its makes the same noise. Thinking serously about taking it back. I don't like that noise either.
I just bought this exact washer machine and home depot delivered and installed today. I decided to join you with the pain. The installer opened the lid and showed me how low the drum sits and will sit lower with water in tub. He showed me how loose wobbly the drum is. He said they call them the crazy machines. Mine sounds just like yours in wash. The sound is not cool. Installer said you don't fix these because once you remove the screws in the plastic, they don't go back in due to being stripped plastic. We are now washing machine brothers.
Bought mine three months ago. I hate it. A total waste of money and my time trying to get it threw a cycle. I don't recommend this washer. Very inconvenient.
Mine does the exact same thing and I just had it delivered days ago. I wish I had saw this video I would have spent a few more bucks and got a different model/ manufacturer.
Thanks for the video. have had mine less than a week, Service is coming out Friday. I will be requesting a new (and different model)... the sound of two ducks dying has got to go and is not something I should expect nor have to live with from a GE washer.
Just got this washer 4 days ago and yesterday was my first time using it sad to say It don’t fill up with water only the bottle is wet I get literally 2 inches of water and it’s on precise fill and nothing I told them can I sent y’all proof told me no so I’m like so can I get someone to exchange it or come look at it made hundreds of excuses now I gotta wait 10 days for someone to come and check it out I just don’t want them saying I messed and they told me that no matter wat I won’t b able to return it this is bull
Dying Duck!🤣🤣 Yeah I prefer my old Kenmore washer, it was loud but at least I knew my clothes were being washed properly. It wasn't moving slow like this one.
"Sometimes you will have press start and play"... boy, did that tickle my funny bone. Thank You!! I needed a good laugh today. Been researching new washers all day and they just don't make them like they used to.
Hi Jon Hvac....Thanks for sharing your feedback and giving us a chance to help. Clicks, water flowing, gear sounds followed by pauses, and electric hum sounds are all part of the normal wash cycle. The Deep Fill option allows you to add extra water to fill the tub the way you want. 1. Add a little more water: Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add 3 gallons of water to the wash load. Once the washer has stopped filling, you can press it again to add 3 more gallons. 2. Full Tub Fill: Press and hold Deep Fill button for 3 seconds to fill the washer to the maximum water level. It will fill to approximately 26 gallons. We hope you find this helpful. Thanks for choosing GE Appliances! You big baby!
I just purchased my washer. My only concern is the horrible shaking that happens during spin cycle no matter water level is set on nor wash cycle you chose. It still shacks not like the machine is out of alignment but rather something not right with the drum🤷♀️
GE uses a new drive system in this machine. I'd like to hear the fingers rolling/tapping on something with both hands. I'd like to hear it on the washing machine and dryer you have with both hands.
Thanks for posting this - with I heard this before I bought it. I thought the device was broken. I luv the "dying duck" comment. Also its very sensitive to out of balance. Yah it does vibrate.
Can someone tell me why me washer keeps repeating the same cycle. Example if i put it on speed wash, it’ll add water, spin half way and add water again. Thank you
Bought one November 2. Hated it after the first load. Don't care about the noise even though our laundry "room" is right next to kitchen. Had an awful time doing towels, sheets, etc. Went crazy out of balance even using the recommended cycle and water level. Had to run the drain and spin to get water out of towels. Didn't want to reset it and start from scratch. First time I did sheets it spun so crazy (and went out of balance and the two sheets were twisted like a candy cane. Not even sure how that happened. Still experimenting. I've been doing laundry since I was 12 and started on a wringer washer. I think I know how to load machines. 😞
What you said, I could've said. The noise and water droplets is the least of our troubles with this washer. It has been a struggle untwisting and untangling sheets, rushing to hit the pause button to stop the basket from banging the inner walls during an badly unbalanced spin. Today I made the mistake of using a little extra soap, and after extra rinses, and an extra wash cycle (no soap) I still had to rinse out the soap from the towels in the sink, and then do a drain and spin. (You have to use just a little detergent, because this washer doesn't rinse sufficiently.) Did I say that I have to use a little platform that raises me four inches so I can safely reach down into that deep deep basket? How I miss my 23 year old Kenmore that died 4 months ago. And...And....And...😂😭
@@ElizaBeth-fh6wy I wouldn't buy this washer or any like it again. AFTER we got this one, a good friend said they bought a front loader and never have a minute's trouble. I have been doing laundry for decades and never had a washer with so many aggravations. Mostly now I try to do smaller loads and use the Medium water setting. It still spins like a small plane taking off, but I can't stop that.
Thank you for the suggestion for smaller loads. I just got this washer and already hate it. It gets out of balance constantly. I'm saving my money to buy something else.
i was really leaning towards this model over the maytag MVWC565FW, just based purely on my in-store observations. the maytag seems more cheaply made, but this ge makes too much noise, and the gap between the wash tub and the top of the unit raises concerns that frequent water splashing outside the tub could cause issues.
I have this washer and I too am not happy with it. It barely agitates. It does not get clothes clean nor does it rinse well. I bought it in October 2020 and had very limited selection due to the pandemic.
I bought mines September 2021 and it doesn't clean my clothes either. I hate this machine there needs to be a recall on it or a class action law suite filed..
I just got one yesterday. I was horrified when I heard this. I thought I had a bad one. But like you said the laundry room has is behind closed doors so I didnt notice at first.
I got a list of things I didnt like about mine, I have the same one, first I dont like the water spay to fill after it fills you cant fill it with more water I hate the noise when its washing also it doesnt let you know if it the first rinse or second.....I MISS MY OLD SCHOOL WASHER!!
Forget it. The dispenser does not work on just one deep rinse because the spin cycle does not last long enough. I have to use the second deep rinse cycle and add the fabric softener manually.
We just got this one yesterday lol. I like it the sound doesn't bother me as bad as our old ones they literally sound like a car wreck. I am impressed at how good it's cleaning our clothes better and the water shower I thought was pretty cool,we're still figuring it out lol how long did you have it or any bad problems?
@@lillianp-yj6yx we had it for 3 months and then my ex left. But I liked it while we still lived together and we had a set of twins and a singleton so it was used a lot and cleaned pretty good. But I did see somewhere about most of them ended up needing to clean or replace something in one of the lines that could blow off while spinning. I know we didn't. But I have a Maytag washer I got off Facebook marketplace, for less than $100 and I absolutely love that one over this one and all the other washers I've ever used before! I'm sorry I wish I could answer that better for you!
I bought this same model today. I’m bringing it back tomorrow. The same noise as yours. It’s so loud it’s scary and for those that say ‘stop complaining about a little noise’ you have no idea how annoying and loud it is. And what is the life expectancy of something that sounds like that. I wish I watched your video yesterday but at least now I know I’m not getting another GE
It’s just a normal sounds from the washer, I’m not sure why it’s louder on the lower end of the ge washers but trust me it’s normal just as long as it’s not near any common areas it’s not a big deal
This is a good review aside from the noise I see this is a good unit as long as it gets the job done I could deal with that little noise and if it does mess up that's the reason I got the 5-year extended warranty!!
I've been having trouble with mines ever since I bought it 16 months ago. The wash cycle knobs and the wash/pause buttons don't light up. As the washer is loading to wash instead of washing the water pumps out then spins. Don't buy this machine. Several people have told me there's a problem with their buttons also.
I just brought one , that what sound like too , I found it is aweful noise, you were right I miss my old one already , but it remove from my house , donot know where it went
Ours went haywire after 6 years. It does all kinds of crazy stuff, like its possessed by demons... It quit deep filling on cold, and later wouldn't deep fill at all, so I had to start bailing water into it with a bucket every time I washed. I checked the water pressure and did all the basic things that are supposed to fix it - cleaned the screens and changed the hoses - but nothing worked. I eventually gave up, and just put a "Y" valve on the cold outlet, and attached a short hose onto one side so I could stop bailing extra water into it with a bucket and just shoot it straight in through the hose by hand. This worked great for several weeks, and then the darned thing started just sitting there forever before it would start. Okay, whatever. But then, just to add insult to injury, after a few more weeks, it started just sitting there and doing nothing for 10-15 minutes at a time randomly all throughout the wash cycle! It now takes two or three times as long to do a load of laundry with all the manual labor and crazy delays, and all you can do is cry and pull your hair out. I've watched a dozen videos about diagnosing/troubleshooting/fixing it, but when I do the required diagnostic check, by mashing certain buttons and watching for lights to blink and buzzers to sound, it falsely reads that there are no problems! The ultra-dependable appliance repairman we've used for 37 years won't touch it with a ten foot pole. He just keeps making excuses and never gets here. I'm betting it is because he hates working on them, since he says he's still in business and he's never done this before. He was my neighbor growing up, and I've known him all my life. I'm just gonna take this miserable piece of you-know-what out to the rifle range and shoot it, and never buy another GE product as long as I live!
AMEN. Mine has multiple absolutely disgusting habits including the random stops mid cycle. My hearing isn't that great but I can't stand the noise. The spin between wash and deep rinse is too short so: 1) all detergent is not properly extracted and 2) fabric softener dispenser does deliver what you pour into it. Must use second deep rinse and manually pour in fabric softerner.
@@paulmartin8271 I finally got a repairman over. He did his thing and told me it was the computer board, whiich was really expensive. He told me that if I fixed it, something else was sure to break almost immediately, seeing as how, "it was at the end of its lifespan". {again - it was 6 years old). I tosses that crapper and bought a Speed Queen.
it is my understanding that the new washing machines actually weigh the amout of clothes you put in the machine , and then decide how much water to use based on the weight of the clothes. so you never get enough water to wash the clothes with the new govt regulations put in place by the obama administration. if you have a bulky selector button, that will put in more water. bottom line is the machines have been redesigned to save water and not clean clothes. dont believe me ? read the reviews of washers on home depot and lowes web sites. people putting clothes into top load washing machines where part of the load doesnt even get wet. the govt has ruined you washing machine. also the full fill button on the GE machines only puts a small amount of water extra, and does not fill the tub as the name suggests.
The direct drive machines are like that with the noise. Mine does the same but washes like a champ. Just don't overload it and you will be fine with performance
I have same one 2 weeks old and it’s total garbage. It’s level first of all. It jams clothing around the agitator that hard that I actually tear clothing when trying to remove it. JUNK. I had an 18 year old LG and replaced the pump and the 2nd time the pump went I tossed out. Wish I had kept it
Sure wish I had seen this video before I bought it. It's waaay louder than the GE it replaced. I thought it was broken or the installers forgot to remove some in-transit stabilizer or something. Laundry room is right outside my home office. Horrible!
We’ve had this same machine for just a short time and it really is doing a good job. Ours sounded odd at first until we had a for a bit. How is yours doing? Thanks for video.
Im sooooo mad at myself for not researching more on this machine, i jus mine today and so far i dont like it. Its taken me all day and ive only got two loads done and i dont feel like they r clean...the fist load came out with dry patches on the pants and definitely not clean. I used the extra fill or full fill whatever its called and still very little water goes in. I use to have a smaller front loader machine and i loved it but sold it when i moved to a.bigger house, big mistake. Do u have any suggestions to help me so i dont end taking a hammer to it lol. Thank u
Weird sound for sure. I’m so glad I never got rid of my old Hotpoint W&D. Everything in them is replaceable for little money. My friend the appliance guy says never get rid of them!
Update- I was not able to take it back so it is now mine. All a really good salesman had to do was to have a recording of this and play it for me and say this is a noise it makes if you can live with that then go with the Toploader. I simply was not aware of it and the minute I heard it I was freaked out. But now that I’ve used it and gotten used to the noise even with the laundry room door closed I like the Toploader as it is much faster then a front loader. Yes it uses water but that’s what makes clean clothes. So if anybody thinking about going this route just be aware of the noise and short of that it’s just a matter of personal choice and I will buy another Toploader in the future when this one fails. These comments are made after using this for a couple of months. Good luck
Do you still have yours and have you had any additional issues outside of the noise. Looking to buy tomorrow but without the agitator and get the impellum instead.
@@mrsmincey9731 I just ordered one tonight and having it delivered on Friday so I'm going through the RUclips videos to see what people are saying after I bought one yikes!
I have one but we’re selling it all it does is spins and the agitator doesn’t do anything only the tub moves and the clothes just floats and not clean.
I have the same machine at home, and it's HORRIBLE! It takes 2 hours to wash a load. It backs up the laundry so bad. It doesn't get the clothes clean at all. My clothes came out with make up and splotches of detergent all over them. My clothes smelled like dirty clothes and felt dirty. I had to take my laundry to the laundromat and rewash my clothes. I was not happy either.
@@gfrogger7 I've had this for a few years and noticed it doesn't clean well. I wish I returned it when I had the chance. That's the only reason I still have it. I'll probably have to give this away.
@@meeka59 I am stuck with this for a while. I am sorry you are having the same issue I am having. I too will make sure I find a better product in the future.
Bought one of these. After two service calls under warranty, it still just stops mid cycle. It has also spontaneously started itself. When we leave the house for more than a day we unplug the machine. I had to replace the drive belt after the original shredded. It has some oil leaking from the transmission seal. You can have a balance problem and an aborted cycle with just few light items. Sheets come out twisted into ropes with other items bound up in them. This unit is used for just the two of us, not a family of 4 or 5. I bought this when the drum broke on my old trusty 20 year old GE. I bought parts and repaired the old one and put it in storage. My wife now wants me to pull it back out and install it instead of this finicky, overprogrammed, noisy pile of junk.
I also had a service call under warranty because it stopped mid cycle. They told me I needed to buy a balance kit and install it. On RUclips it took 14 minutes. I talked to 3 handymen and the first 2 stood me up and the third said GE washers are low quality, so most people won’t work on them. The internet reviews give this model 4.4 stars. I just can’t use the machine again until I get the balance kit installed. Finally, I called GE back and asked why they didn’t offer to install the balance kit for me. I would have paid him. It’s no way a normal person could do it. Now they will charge $109 minimum for next service call.
I bought mine 5 years ago from Lowes. I take care of it and it is loud. I was happy until it decided not to spin or agitate. I read they can last for 11 plus years. After 5 years I did not expect to have major issues.
I have this washer and I'm taking apart today.I've always been able to fix it's problems, but now it refuses all the things I've tried. JUST fills and not drain or anything! 6 years old.
Forget it. The thing is so poorly designed that the short spin between the wash and deep rinse cycle never reaches enough speed for it to function properly. I use two deep rinse option and poor fabric softener in manually while second rinse is filling.

The appliance department folks had no idea what I was talking about. Surely I'm not the first person to question the unearthly groans coming from my new washing machine. I'll be haunting the estate sales looking for a 20 year old Maytag -- simple and reliable.
Haier bought out GE appliances and it's all downhill from here.
Thought mine was broke when I turned it on today. This will be going right back to Lowes.
Same here. I thought the noise was not normal.
@@riem4555 manual says that’s correct! you’re good
I can deal with the noise as long as it washes my clothes 🤣
ABSOLUTELY, I WILL NEVER BUY A POS HIGH EFFICIENCY MACHINE EVER AGAIN...DEFEATS THE PURPOSE WHEN U HAVE TO REWASH CLOTHES AGAIN IN A HALF GALLON OF DAMN WATER!!
I dont like the noise not sure if I like the product.
Same lol. I hate this washer.
Facts. I rather have one that makes noise vs one that doesn’t work!
Very irritating.
what do yuo think of it now? would you recommend? i'm on a budget but need a decent washer
I have this same washer and regret it. Why does it take forever to wash clothes? Is it possible that it’s a defect ?
Why do appliances get crappier and crappier?
Which one do you think would be a better choice with 4.5 Cu and up with agitator?
I just got this set yesterday. Noise scared me at first but it's not too bad after a while.
LMAO, it does sound like a dying duck! You were the first review I looked at for this model, thank you for the review and saving me the headache.
More like a mating duck!
@@gregchartrand8848 😆😆
I have the same washer. Does the same just like yours. Crazy that these are that loud.
Dying Duck!🤣🤣 Yeah I prefer my old Kenmore washer, it was loud but at least I knew my clothes were being washed properly. It wasn't moving slow like this one.
Do you have any idea what temperature Cool & Warm are? have you measured it. And how hot is hot.
"Sometimes you will have press start and play"... boy, did that tickle my funny bone. Thank You!! I needed a good laugh today. Been researching new washers all day and they just don't make them like they used to.
Same headache here. Please could you tell what you got. I need a 4.5 cu and up with agitator. This one or Lg WT7305CW?
@@rhoodj Hi, I ended up getting a Speed Queen TC5003WN. Has agitator but is 3.2 cu. It is not bad, but I sure would like an "old school" machine!
Is this a defect?
I’m at work dealing with a customer thinking it’s broke 😂😂
Haha it's not you, it's me.
Who is who? I am so confused?
How did you end up fixing it? Or did you? Mine's making the same noise
Thank you for sharing this video because we thought that our washer was defective when we first loaded it up for the first time.
Yeah it's loud.
Same for me
Thanks for posting this - with I heard this before I bought it.
We have that washer and it’s been a pain ever since.
how is your washer now? do you recommend?
i was really leaning towards this model over the maytag MVWC565FW, just based purely on my in-store observations. the maytag seems more cheaply made, but this ge makes too much noise, and the gap between the wash tub and the top of the unit raises concerns that frequent water splashing outside the tub could cause issues.
Anything better than that maytag ? A top loader perhaps ge ?
Why didnt you get a whirlpool washer to match the dryer
I have this washer and I too am not happy with it. It barely agitates. It does not get clothes clean nor does it rinse well. I bought it in October 2020 and had very limited selection due to the pandemic.
Yes!!!!! It agitates slow and doesn’t clean the clothes at all!!!!!! I’ve washed the same load three times!!!!!!
Totally not happy with this product!!
I bought mines September 2021 and it doesn't clean my clothes either. I hate this machine there needs to be a recall on it or a class action law suite filed..
I just got one yesterday. I was horrified when I heard this. I thought I had a bad one. But like you said the laundry room has is behind closed doors so I didnt notice at first.
how is your washe rnow? do you recommend it?
Reminds me of the alert system that went off while I was in a sea ship.
I got a list of things I didnt like about mine, I have the same one, first I dont like the water spay to fill after it fills you cant fill it with more water I hate the noise when its washing also it doesnt let you know if it the first rinse or second.....I MISS MY OLD SCHOOL WASHER!!
Anyone know where the fabric softener goes ? We just hooked up our washer and it didn’t come with a manual 🤷♀️
I am impressed at how good it's cleaning our clothes better and the water shower I thought was pretty cool,we're still figuring it out lol how long did you have it or any bad problems?
how is your washer now? would you recommend?
@@lillianp-yj6yx we had it for 3 months and then my ex left. But I liked it while we still lived together and we had a set of twins and a singleton so it was used a lot and cleaned pretty good.
I agree with you on that, having the same frikin mama duck calling her ducklings can that sound removable???
I'm doing my first load! It's so loud! All the noises coming from it. Also, no brake... Wait 30+ seconds for it to stop!
The lack of a brake is just one of its 25 or 30 flaws in engineering.
Yes mine sounds the same, GE didnt think the noise was an issue during testing..
What is difference in these two model numbers:
Compare
GTW460ASJWW
GTW460ASJ5WW
I've had this washer for six months with zero issues. Machines make sounds! Who knew!
I have the same model. Not a fan. Very loud I wish I fixed my old machine and not got this own. The matching dryer also sucks
I just brought one , that what sound like too , I found it is aweful noise, you were right I miss my old one already , but it remove from my house , donot know where it went
Leave the lid open after you transfer the clothes out. This way you allow the moisture to evaporate from the drum. Less chance for rust.
I had a 20 year old Whirlpool. It finally died in 2020. This is the washer I got with AHS. It is very noisy. It vibrates a great deal.
Were the shipping bolts removed ? That may have been the case
This is belt driven.
That is the sound of the agitator
I have same one 2 weeks old and it’s total garbage. It’s level first of all. It jams clothing around the agitator that hard that I actually tear clothing when trying to remove it. JUNK. I had an 18 year old LG and replaced the pump and the 2nd time the pump went I tossed out. Wish I had kept it
Thank you! This video is really helpful.
I returned it back to Lowe's right away.
Thank u
My hotpoint has the same dials but the spin cycle is 10 minutes with the lid locked...can't stand it
Mine does the exact same thing since day one. They say it's "normal"...
The grinding sound is unbearable. why can't they muffle the sound or change it to another sound?
Noise is subjective. What we really need to know is how many decibels at 5’ and 10’. I have this washing machine and do not find it loud at all
Weird sound for sure. I’m so glad I never got rid of my old Hotpoint W&D. Everything in them is replaceable for little money. My friend the appliance guy says never get rid of them!
This sounds exactly like the Maytag commercial washer

Mine never deep fills and doesn't seem to clean our clothes that good.
If anyone has a reset or possible issue I would love to try it!
I have this washer and I'm taking apart today.I've always been able to fix it's problems, but now it refuses all the things I've tried. JUST fills and not drain or anything! 6 years old.

Where is the fabric softener dispenser?
Top of the agitator.
Forget it. The thing is so poorly designed that the short spin between the wash and deep rinse cycle never reaches enough speed for it to function properly. I use two deep rinse option and poor fabric softener in manually while second rinse is filling.
