Fun fact: things in orbit around us, like the ISS, are NOT in zero-G. The station and it's occupants experience the same pull of gravity as we do here on the ground. Oh! I live in Lower Silesia and I know the tunnels you are talking about. Project Riese in Owl Mountains. By the way, you can visit them and it is worth it. It is around 3 hour drive from Prague I think. While antigravity machine probably wasn't produced there, it is still crazy shit. The fact is that we have no clue what those tunnels where for. There have been at least 2 Sun Lasers in James Bond. The first was in The Man With the Golden Gun, which centered around Bond finding a key component to said laser. Then Die Another Day rehashed the formula, but just as hokey.
It goes up to 3 if you count the Diamond-encrusted satellite from Diamonds Are Forever as a Sun laser as well!
I believe GoldenEye was also about a sun-powered space laser.

Chat GBT is decent with a pitch of salt approach. I'm currently doing some research on a politician and looking into his family's politics. Chat GBT just straight made up nonsense and said his family were not political BUT Wikipedia says his family were and then defected to another political party BUT anyone who does actual research like I did when I looked for a good political biographer said they were members of a political party but didnt overly follow up on it but did campaign on political and social issues which is basically the correct answer.
So, yeaaah I'm not as addicted to Chat GBT as Simon is. But, it got a decent answer which I think Simon was happy with.

It was pretty silly because it had the North Koreans as the bad guys; one who basically got white face plastic surgery and was the main villain, and the other henchman had diamond shrapnel embedded in his face. It also had that awful Madonna song, so yeah, I think it was Die Another Day.

It really makes me mad at how we went from the Apollo program to basically just driving around the block in a bus we called the space shuttle. It’s like my grandparents generation made this incredible space program and then my parents generation basically shuttered it because there wasn’t instant profit involved. I wouldn’t be surprised if China beats us back to the moon. In fact I almost hope it happens. That way we would take Mars a lot more seriously since the Chinese could potentially beat us there as well.

6:10 - I couldn’t agree with you more concerning “For All Mankind.” It’s a very binge-worthy show, but it often tosses aside realistic Human behavior and motivations in favor of advancing the Very Important plot. I’m constantly yelling at the screen, “That’s not how people behave!” Although Joel Kinnaman is a very likable actor and has done some good roles, he’s not exactly killing it as Ed Baldwin. The character of Margo Madison has really grown on me, however, and Wrenn Schmidt is perfect in the role. The less said about the character of Aleida Rosales, the better. … All that said, I look forward to the next season!
I'm still in season 1, so I'm way behind on everything, but I was wondering which actor he meant! I was kind of leaning toward the guy who played Deke Slayton. Ed Baldwin's role alone on the moon requires an outstanding actor because he isn't interacting with anyone. It's a heavy lift for a good actor, let alone a mediocre or poor one.

I'm super sad that no one in the comments has mentioned you bringing up "For All Mankind". It is an excellent show, even if you're not a space nerd. I'm curious as to which actor Simon isn't impressed with as there are a couple who definitely aren't star material, but the writing is so good and everything is shot so well, their lackluster performance is still very watchable.
The only character I can think of having a bad actor is Danny Stevens. And you're right, the writing and directing of the show are fantastic

Feels like it's been forever since I heard a Katy script. Favorite Whistlerverse writer, though "Simonverse" is so much catchier. And wow, you know Simon really feels strongly about the Ancient Aliens dude when he doesn't even say "allegedly, in my opinion." But I don't understand where Interstellar came into play. Most of that movie was fairly realistic precisely because it DOESN'T have gravity-manipulation technology. All the weird gravity shit came from the black hole. And the closest thing I know of to "working out some equation" is that they created an unusually accurate visual simulation of a black hole for the movie. As I recall, there were claims in the media that the movie led to "new discoveries," but these were oversold at best.
It's actually a stereotype that engineers are the STEM field most likely to believe in pseudoscience. Speaking of conspiracy theories, the sad fact is that the same people who believe we have Nazi antigravity technology likely believe completely contradictory conspiracy theories like that we don't have the technology to go to the moon. Conspiracy theories have this weird property where the more you get into them, the more you'll just believe any old shit so long as it's "not mainstream," & it doesn't matter if they're incompatible with each other. They're somehow all true & the person will just be unable to see the contradiction. This is a big part of why it's so hard to pull people out of conspiracy theories once they buy into them. It's almost literally like they have anti-logic armor.

_The SS Brotherhood of the Bell_ by Joseph P. Farrell is a great read. It covers the the science of Die Glocke quite well. He's quite an intweresting author with a handful of books, some a little more further out theere than others, but they all have good reviews on Amazon.
I just found a podcast here on youtube with him and Tino Struckmann from 2021 on the "Last Nazi Secret" that will be my viewing project for tonight...4 hours long, so it'll keep me busy.

Like, they built it to theoretically do A, but it actually does B, C, D, skips E, and then does F through Poundsign and then makes a last stop a "rep27@g÷$smerp!" for the memes. I mean it's full of radioactive goo, it could supposedly *desolate* an 800yd radius around itself, rot plants alive, turn your blood to ammonium nitrate crystals, and hover in place while it was at it. Back in history , a Italian monk designed a theoretical vacuum airship. If a metallic hull could be created to resist the vacuum inside it would become a mechanical buoyant craft inside of the atmosphere . Multiple accounts across the lore of UAP/UFO have it that at least one of the craft was recovered from a archeology site. Supposedly India during the Nazi documentation expeditions. But also a strange sphere found in the Italian Alps under a glacier or in a glacier canyon. Fun story. What if these anti gravity items are just really cleverly made human engineering at its finest. And modern people like Lazar where brought it to see if they could figure out how it was done.

Just saw this and haven't watched it yet but this was actually already debunked by Ancient Aliens of all people. Or, I guess I should say on Ancient Aliens because, obviously, they didn't reach the same editorial conclusion. But the poor sane guy they have on the show pointing out that the so-called "henge" for "die Glocke" is actually the foundation for a water tower and he showed pictures of pretty much identical structures built in Germany at the time. I assume Simon will address this (or, more accurately, his writer will). I will soon find out.

Those hieroglyphs were probably rudimentary silicone plates/ integrated circuits, attached to the device/balloon/rocket… Back in the 50’ they were brown color and not as dense. Potentially with only a few lines on the board. Plus, people had no idea what they were.
They totally looked a bit like hieroglyphs. 💁♂️

The Man with the Golden Gun also featured a sun laser but not in space. Diamonds are Forever featured a space laser that used diamonds but its never said to be powered by the sun (although I always assumed it was). Connery's last appearance as Bond was in the unofficial Warner Bros. Bond film Never Say Never Again.
