    No doubt your line of work is very challenging and not everyone is cut out for it. From what I understand, it is one of those careers where you gain a lot of transferable skills that you can use to transition into different pathways. So I think, even if it is done as a short term job, its a great stepping stone to the next move. Your 7 years of working in this field is a testament to your resilience and mental strength. Its very admirable! Keep it up!! ❤

    The other side for me would be lack of privacy having constant roommates. In spite of the loneliness I would still need some privacy.

    I can still remember the days when Etihad was founded many decades ago.
    In accordance to hire experienced cabin staff, flight attendants and pursers at the very beginning, they approached and addressed cabin crew members of Lufthansa in Frankfurt, Germany, in a small office, i.e. a small hotel room at the Sheraton Airport Hotel, and tried to lure them into Etihad, offering to double their existing salaries. But taking into account that there was no social security, no medical insurance and no pension scheme, a double salary was not very much. I am happy not to have joined Etihad when I look at the situation today.
    I was a flight attendant with Lufthansa from 1982 - 2015.
    Now I enjoy my retirement.

      @@AlexanderGeorge Definitely yes! 😅 I don't know where I would be today, if I had joined Etihad at their very beginning.
      If I had been lucky, probably I would had joined their cabin staff management (but would be retired today, anyway. Either enjoying my retirement in the UAE, or back home).

    Thank you for sharing an awesome video as always. I can only imagine working as a flight attendant is definitely not easy. It has its pros and cons for sure. On my way back to Toronto from Dubai on Emirates, I could see how hard working the crew was on a long haul non stop14 hr flight. My seat was just next to the exit door next to the galley. So I could take a peep and see how the crew prepping meals and also attending to pax coming to the galley asking for water, eats, etc. Whenever I travel I never bug any of the crew for anything. This time I travelled business class on Oman Air from Goa to Dubai via Muscat for the first time. I was the only business class pax inflight on the Goa Muscat sector and felt like a king but I still did not bug the crew at all even though they kept coming to me and asking if I needed anything 😊 I will always appreciate the crew in economy as it is a lot of work especially on an A380. Do enjoy your vacation in Romania. Looking forward to some videos of Romania 😃

      Hi Bruce, thanks for the comment!
      Yes indeed, although if you have any requests don't hesitate to ask the crew. Seated next to galley means it's hard to sleep because of noise, right? Yes, some flights are tough, and on Ultra Longs, it's always busy. Wish you safe skies !!

    • @BruceDSouza

    I wanna say a thing which is on the other hand, if a person who is already super lonely and after joining he can make some friends over there and can enjoy with them sometimes at least, then this job is amazing and out of the world for them 😂

    In North America (with the exception of one airline) cabin crew don’t get paid until the cabin door is closed. So the pre-flight briefing, onboard safety and equipment checks, galley prep, boarding, securing cabin, is done for FREE. Not sure if that happens in the Middle East airlines, or the European ones for that matter. But thanks for another great vid 👑

    • @AGdnr
      @AGdnr Год назад +2

      Is that so? I'm shocked. Why would you do all the preparation for free. I guess it's pretty common for European Airlines to pay their cabin crew starting with the briefing.

    • @sudokurapist
      @sudokurapist 9 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, it's the same for the Middle Eastern companies too. And then you get pax who want you to lift their bags up when that is literally not whatsoever our job or responsibility.

    Emirates should take an example of German airlines there are so many how are about 25 to 30 years in the job there happy and have good conditions

    • @watchhans
      @watchhans 11 месяцев назад +2

      That's exactly what all Middle Eastern airlines don't want. Especially if you are a foreigner and not a UAE-citizen and if you don't speak Arabic.
      There are foreigners working for EK or EY for a long time already, but usually they work in leading positions, like for the cabin crew management at the head office.
      But there are not many of them.
      In Germany, if you work for the Lufthansa Group, for example, you have to speak German and live in Germany. Even though there are over 140 different nationalities working as a flight attendant for Lufthansa, all the way from Iceland to New Zealand. But what unites them, they all speak German and live in Germany or in neighbouring countries.
      Their bases are either Frankfurt or Munich and they have to be able to check-in for duty within 1 hour, if they are on stand-by.
      To be able to do so is their own responsibility and at their own cost.

    First, hope you're having a great great time with your family in your hometown. Allow yourself to enjoy sleeping all the time or having to do what you feel at the moment. Not at all the time you get the chance to be spoiled at your parents home 😂
    About the article, well I feel like this was written by someone who was burnout about the position he/she had. In my opinion all the areas have similar situations, the backstabbers, there's plenty of them, the people pleaser, the narcissist people ufff even more, in the investment field there's a lot of similar situations and it's up to us how to handle it, because people will change because something made them decide that, it's an everyday decision how to handle your job, no one said it was easy, but it's up to us how we decide to deal with it. Adult life is complex and no one has a perfect recipe to live it smoothly and joyful.
    Hope things are going well with you and enjoy your vacation.
    Take care 🙏🙂✌️

    Greetings from NZ, Alex. Your vlogs are always so informative and enjoyable. Flying anywhere from my country is at least 3 hours. And 17hrs +/- to Dubai is a fair slog so I do try to be a model passenger. The only thing I really want on a long flight is regular water runs. And the airline to remember my VOML. Can't imagine what's like for the crew on flights to/from Oceania given the massive time difference. Jetlag must be a real doozy for Doha and Dubai-based crew. I always try to buy a large block of 70-80% dark chocolate to hand the crew on boarding. Hopefully it helps a little with flagging energy levels, since crew can hardly pop out for an espresso or a Red Bull 😊. Happy, energised crew = happy passengers.

    These are very common issues with every job, there is no one who does a job without these types of issues..Adaptability is the best way to adjust with these problems, that's why , just like the every airlines ask frm their candidates at the interview regarding the adaptability, teamwork with different regions and the relocation..If someone is unable to go with these facts, the best thing is being at home with doing nothing..coz every job is not easy, even you ar doing ur own business..

    For me it's the disrespect you get from so many fronts at the time. One day can be amazing, nice pax, nice colleagues, you're blessed thanking God, but the next one could be horrible due to the lack of support system onboard from your colleagues, lack of empathy, workload not being equally distributed, demanding passengers who see you as their personal ass kisser and a slave and seniors talking to you like you're a dog without an ounce of respect. Some people should never be put in a position of any authority without regular mental checks as their demeanor puts and spreads stress on others which affects the crew themselves emotionally and psychologically and then that affects the onboard safety and security as well the passengers themselves and the service provided to them.
