Love your playing Simon, though I've only ever seen you through your Dawkes videos.

Great Simon! The tone Tablet on your Mark VI was the most dramatic change to my ears.
I myself use Matt Vashlishan´s screw with interchangeable weights on all my horns. I´m a believer!

Yes Bob, I agree. Initially I was really cynical about any of these gadgets, but the Tone Tablet was a real eye opener! I've not come across Matt's screw, but if it works for you, that's great.

The Mark VI stood out for me whereas before I thought it might be the King's new clothes. All wonderfully demonstrated by Simon but he is a truly great player and great to listen to .

Amazing, your style playing is awesome, actually like the tone of the mark 6 best without the gadget. Very interesting video thanks

Goodness me, that tiny Tone Tablet at 3:30 min, completely transformed the Mark VI horn into something new: full, articulate, more responsive … Truly incredible!

Yes indeed. It's the one gadget here that I will not be giving back to Dawkes!

You are an excellent player so I am not sure how much these gadgets contribute to how you play. You sound great with and without them.

Thank you Miron. It's all about your setup. If these gadgets help you achieve a sound closer to your goal, then they work for me!

From what he is doing there I cannot see how the tone tablet looks like and where exactly he is attaching it to the saxophone. Can anyone explain how I can attach the tone tablet to my alto saxophone?

I was sceptical about supposed enhancing saxophone gadgets and before now the only enhancing gadget I have bought is a Jazz Labs Deflector which has helped me improve my tone as I can hear the sound coming back at me. After seeing this video, I bought a tone tablet in size 1 for my Yamaha YAS-280 to try it myself. Inexpensive and I was totally prepared for it not to do anything. It fitted fine and I noticed something similar to when Simon put the tone tablet in his Mark VI here, my overall sound was a little fuller and even playing normally, I was louder and could play louder than I could without it and a bit smoother. Its amazing how a tiny piece of lightweight solid silver could do that!
UPDATE: I have a Yany BooStar neck screw and I have tried it on my Yanagisawa AWO2 and from my tests, it adds depth to the sound and with the heaviest screw in, the sound is more focused and darker and a little more resistant. Its not a screw I'd use often but it works best with a brighter, more free blowing mouthpiece setup.

Ha, ha! I did state that there are plenty of cynics. It's what works for you that is important!
