they usually show the web that spiderman swings from is actually multiple strings wrapped around each other, and when it latches on to something the ends spread out to hold on to more of that surface. So if you figure out how to make that effect you won't need an anchor in the future, other than that great job.

Something to consider is that when you add swinging into the mix your anchor will need to be a lot stronger than if you're just hanging. As an aerialist all of our safety equipment is tested at 5k+ lbs of force (since a aerialist dropping 20-30 feet can exert about half that)

Every time I check for "real web shooters" I see some improvement over the years. Back in 2015 I remember a viral video of someone who could shoot webs that looked like Spider-Man but couldn't hold their weight, now around 10 years later the community has finally overcome that. I wonder what you'll do next! Soon you'll be swinging from building to building!

Awesome job Joel! Suggestion: Use a mesh of nylon rope saturated with the glue. Instead of your anchor being a solid piece of metal it would be a complex knot covered in glue. When it sticks to a surface it hits and spreads out. The difficulty will be spreading the force out evenly over the glue rather than pulling on a single point at once. Some sort of slipknot like structure that dynamically adjusts to whatever surface/angle you hit could work.

Can be launched with a compressed air charge, potentially part of the bullet, and should be able to glue, stick, and swing in 1 round as long as the glue dries quickly enough. Look into it? Make the web anchor collapse into the CO2 cartridge and then when its fired the outward pressure of the co2 would cause it to "Blossom" open like a flower, or a net, or a hollow point round.
If the anchor is metal and inside the co2 cartridge, then the glue could be pre placed/heated in the center. Not sure if that's the best description of the idea. But I'm sure by now, you've come up with an idea way better.

It’s insane to me that this exists. I watched a video last night of a guy using suction cups to climb a building. You guys are 3 regular people, just fans with some serious intellect who’ve made a sci-fi action franchise closer to reality just on a whim & dream! Kudos to all your effort, your work though it may be criticized from the scientific community or the public at large will live on in the domain of public opinion & us nerds & geeks alike as a testament to how formidable the human spirit can be. This is extremely impressive & although you will have/had days where you thought of the fact that scenes in film depict trial & error in the form of a montage your whole video shows that same thing. It maybe 8+ minutes for us? But your dedicating so much time & effort into this & we thank you. Please keep going & remember for all human history you shall be remembered as a pioneer & what a common human can do to pushing the limits of human ability. This is generation 1, if you produced an offspring & taught them this & they carried on your legacy?? Imagine Gen 10!! From the mind of two guys making comic books dreaming up their wildest dreams, in a few centuries there could ACTUALLY be a Spider-Man. That. Is. An. ABSOLUTELY INSANE concept to envision. But it’s 100% in the realm of possibility. Imagine 300 years ago my ancestor living in a teepee envisioning me tapping into my iPhone a comment on a RUclips VIDEO sending this message of hope directly to you instantaneously at the click of an arrow. Then connecting with my family in a moment just as quick or ordering any type of food to my house, a car to pick me up, sounds transmitted to my airpods for hours on end & me working from my laptop that’s barely the thickness of a hide they used to cover with. That would be extremely alien & science & technology advances so much more exponentially every day. I cannot begin to express my profound respect for you & you work.

Have you tried experimenting with 2-part epoxies? For example, if it says 2 drops of hardener and you put in a bunch, epoxy can get *really* hot and set in seconds. Switch the cartridge for two compartments of carefully-selected sizes, and a mixing nozzle. The nozzle may quickly clog, but disposable one-off cartridges or easily replaceable nozzles could sort that.

This is so amazing! I do have a suggestion on how you might be able to use one wrist for your glue cartridges and another wrist for your rope and anchor. In order to swing multiple times you would have to have a rotate-able wrist piece for multiple different anchors and ropes which would automatically rotate after the previous shot was fired and released. This would allow you to shoot the glue with one hand and the rope with the other and hold onto the rope while you swing to shoot the glue for the next rope to attach to. In order for you to be able to swing using both hands you would have to have the anchor and rope mounts on both wrists and glue mounts on both wrists which may prove problematic 😬☹️ I hope this helps out in any way!

But then wouldn’t have to hit the same exact spot twice if he’s shooting the glue and the anchor separately

And also, the belt and the heating mecanics are brilliant!

i would suggest using small, but very sturdy hinges on the mesh plate. fold the plate inwards so when the cartridge propels the mesh and glue, it also opens up, thus sticking to the wall with the glue. just an idea

  • @jameswalmsley9038

You could make your anchor like a flower, with the “bud” at the front of the projectile and the petals hinged and tucked back like a slimmer shuttlecock, then you could load that in your hot glue chamber (with the glue already heated and coating the mesh) so when the projectile is fired and the bud contacts a surface, the petals would fling forward and expand outwards into your current shape. Your rope could be a slimmer wire, maybe a few platted lengths of deep sea fishing wire (rated for massive fish or possibly medium sized adults haha), set up on a spool on your belt and fed up a thin but rigid pipe to your wrist. That would be what I’d try next if I was in your shoes.
I’m not a maker, just thought I’d add a different perspective

Hot glue “paintballs” inside of a foldable glue anchor kinda makes it so you could attach it to anywhere. You’d have to figure out how to launch the anchor and ropes, come up with a way you make the anchor deploy and strike a surface hard enough to spread the glue and get a good enough stick. Sounds like a tall order though
