    Thanks. Just bought the jungle green version on close out. Didn’t see much difference in that and the new version. Oh well if there is. Thanks for the amazing deal

    Snowshoeing! You can use the daisy chain loops for attaching straps and webbing. You can strap your snowshoes to your pack. Ideal small pack for a day hike if you do not want to use the large Osprey Aether AG 60. Kamber seems ideal for ice climbing, snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing. Aether for winter hiking weekends and snowshoes. Kestrel for short day hikes and snowshoes. Suggested straps are REI Co-op Packmod Accessory Straps Item #162155, Redpoint 1" Webbing Straps with Side-Release Buckles, and Sea to Summit Hook Release 3/4" Accessory Straps.

    Can't decide between the Kestrel 38l and 48l. Are they both suitable to fit in the tent and the sleeping bag?
    Thank you.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад +4

      Hi, good question! You can fit a tent and sleeping bag in each (depending on the size of the gear). If you plan on doing shorter 1-2 night trips then the Kestrel/Kyte 38L will work, but for anything longer the 48L will provide more adequate space. Happy Trails!

    I had a chance at getting 2 x 38L backpacks for less than 200 CAD all in. I think I should've opted for the 48L for more space but they're still very good quality for what they are.

    Question about the hip belt. Can it be stowed out of the way if not needed? Maybe folded behind the lumbar pad? I have an old Northface Neutron 32 I am looking to replace and it has this feature.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  4 года назад

      Hi Terry, The Kestrel does not have a stowable harness or hipbelt. The belt is a bit too substantial to fold up behind the lumbar pad.

  • @noodlesthe1st
    @noodlesthe1st Год назад

    Man what to do about those sleeping pad straps when I'm not using a sleeping pad. The ends of the strap are stitched in a way you can't just pull them out and they're so long. Just look at the last shot of him wearing the backpack. The straps are going past the butt! I'm always scared I'm going to snag on something while climbing.

    Does it have a secret side pocket parallel to the 2nd access of the bag as we see in the Kestrel 48?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад

      Hi, good question! The Kestrel 38 actually doesn't have side access to its main compartment, so the same pocket doesn't appear to be there on the 38

    what to chose Deuter Futura Pro 36 or Osprey Kestrel 38???

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад +3

      Hi Alex! They're both great packs, but each will carry a bit differently. The Kestrel has ridged foam along its back, so this pack will ride pretty close to the wearer. The Futura Pro has tensioned mesh incorporated into its backpanel, which will provide ventilation and let the pack ride slightly off of the wearer's back. A lot of the decision will come down to which style you prefer. Thanks for watching!

    Hi,
    Does the kestrel series squeak like some of the other osprey packs?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  4 года назад +1

      Not that we're aware of. It seems that issue was reported with previous versions of the Atmos/Aura

    Great review. I am spending way too much time researching the different Osprey options in the 30-40L range. I'm looking for a pack mainly for day hiking as well as occasional overnight and weekend trips (and a way to experiment with my ultralight kit). I am between Kestrel 38 and Exos 38, with the Talon and Stratos still in the mix. Exos' removable lid is really appealing followed by its simplicity, but lack of organization/pockets (the newest model eliminates the hip pockets) has my going back to the Kestrel. Just curious if you have any insight to offer.

    Hi, what is the height of the presenter and the size of the backpack?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  2 года назад

      Troy is six-foot-tall, however, most pack manufacturers recommend selecting size based on torso measurement, rather than height or weight. If you have never measured your torso before, here’s a video demonstration: trailsense.enwild.com/how-to-measure-your-torso-for-backpack-fitting/. Once you know your torso measurement, follow the link in the description to view the Size Guide and recommended size for your torso length. Thanks for watching!

    • @Enwild

      Hi! You could always attach your boots to one of the loops in the daisy chain, but there's not a designated point of attachment for boots.

    Is this allowed as a carry on?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Francis,
      The dimensions are 30" x 12" x 11" which is probably a bit big for most airlines, though you may be able to get away with it. Here's a handy chart for most commercial airlines rules: travel-made-simple.com/carry-on-size-chart/

    has anyone tried to bring this pack as hand carry bag? thanks.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад

      Hey, thanks for posting! At around 28", this pack is too tall to use as a carry on bag. Something like the Farpoint 40 will fall within most airlines' carry-on restrictions: www.enwild.com/osprey-farpoint-40-2016.html
