Humour can also be used to cover up that you are actually depressed and hurting inside. A last ditch effort to fight it even. I know that from my grandfather who was super funny. It can be a mask of sorts. Since then I look at every too funny person twice. I don't think he is a natural born comedian but yet another person not having had an easy live. The actual mask he puts on additionally and his low self-esteem practically give it away. That's why he can write such deep stories! Hmmm that got longer than I wanted it to be. Anyway that's my take on it.
I love how it looks like he added the scar to his mask to make it look cool, but he actually just dropped it and broke it, and instead of replacing it he just made it look like a newly added scar and called it a day.
it's funny because Yoko just patch his scar instead of getting a new head. I really like the sense of humour of this Japanese directors. my wish is to have Yoko Taro and Hideo Kojima collab in a game.
Well i think if that happen one of two they make a 120 hour interactive movie or they make the great Game of the universe and question us what is everything and making a impact around the world and make US a superior beam
Hideo: I want there to be an epic boss fight- Yoko: With a lot of a$$ Hideo: Y-yes with a lot of that too. Their companies: Guys this will break the internet and everything else. Yokojima: I know.
Yoko Taro: "Even though we were blessed by Platinum Games for their gameplay development, please don't expect too much out of my part because my original concept was very shit." *Tell me why I'm crying after Ending E... We don't deserve Yoko Taro.*
Yoko Taro once said in an interview that the reason he wears a mask “when you find out that the person writing pornographic novels is an older gentleman, you kind of lose that excitement.”
It's interesting how Yoko Taro seems to have extreme self-esteem issues. You can see that from this interview, and I remember I saw an interview where he said that he doesn't think Nier Replicant will sell very well because Automata was a fluke. So sad! Also, if you've played Automata and haven't played the original Nier or the Replicant remake, seriously consider doing it!
That last statement was very wholesome. Wish someday, when i release any of my games, somebody would fall in love by it's weirdness either, even it bein g a bit off 💛
Nier brings forth a sort of nostalgia i can't really find a source to, it feels so familiar, the music, the world and the characters in it feel so real and the fantasy elements give me more nostalgia than final fantasy, or any other fantasy game. The simple joy of exploring the vast yet vibrant world, finding small things, the simple yet beautiful combat that never gets old, but represents the constant grind of a fantasy game, and the constant mortal risk you are really in, i only play automata, because replicant is hard to find, nier feels like the first fantasy game I've ever played, like it's always been there in my heart. The personal feelings of the characters, the raw emotion that you experience seeing characters around you trying so hard to live their lives and achieve happiness, or destroy themselves realizing there is no hope. The game fills me with peace, but also hurts to experience the sacrifices made.
Interesting to note that he and Saito are in the special thanks for XVI, so I wonder if the super messed up side quests in XVI had anything to do with him

The funniest part about the ignorance of this comment is that Yoko himself repeatedly says "ano," which is the Japanese equivalent of "um," so her translation is accurate regardless
I loathe him for his writing and directing, but if he and Okabe had never come together, we would not have had the incredible soundtracks, so I'll give him that much.
"The scenario I wrote is shit"
Wha...What did he just say?
That shit can make us crying so loud, i love that kind of shit

I know the mask is to hide his face, but it works well with his humor too. The shit eating grin matches so damn well with everything he says 😂
How can this natural born comedian write such heart gripping stories

Yoko: With a lot of a$$
Hideo: Y-yes with a lot of that too.

I think they'd never get along and constantly conflict over wanting creative control lmao. Movies with two directors sometimes struggle from this.
He's just so precious
I love that I've never seen his real face, his character works really well with his current appearance.
It's because he's a middle aged man writing erotic novels, he is his biggest fear

I don't know if the mask gives him an alter ego or something, I don't care either... this guy is brilliant with or without the mask!!
What gives him the alter ego is being sober lmao
