I like to imagine being in the bar as an annoyed and already half-drunk Tarma insists on setting the record straight while Leslac keeps trying to edit the events. By halfway through, the barkeep was probably facepalming!
I understand that this bard was upset by the appearance of Tarma and Kethry when he caught up to them in that bar and never actually met them because he thought they didn't look like he Imagine them to look like. I like how he made Tarma have a sword fight with the drunken lord
I forgotten about this! The bard, Leslac, that annoyed the female duo, the mage and warrior. I forget their names, think mage was Kethry? He would switch them around in his songs, making Kethry the warrior, her Shinian (SP?)who was a sword-sworn, be the mage. He also had a big crush on the sword-sworn, greatly annoying her as one her vows was chasity and she was really not interested in him. The female in this song was the sword-sworn.
The other thing you have to understand is that Leslac made his carrer out of following Kethra and Tamra around and writing slightly more heroic versions of their exploits as a way to finally make a name for himself and land a post as a court bard.
Spelling is Shin’a’in, and its not so much that she was sworn to celibacy or chasity, it was that she was made sexless as they put it, basically she was semi-artificially made asexual
Spoiler alert: In the book tarna and kethry meet with a priest in a hostel and get to talking. Leslacs' songs come up and tarna explodes in a tirade unequaled and unprecedented for her. Usually... Tarma was the laconic one who granted rather than spoke, in this case however..we see the priestly side of the sworn. Warrior priests, each and every one of them. Any similarities to any other order ..are not coincidental i'm sure.
Actually, after Tarma took vows to her goddess, she was more than chaste, she was asexual and a priestess. Which made the bard's attention even more annoying, as there was no way for a mortal man to prevail over the goddess' influence.
The Mercedes Lackey books about Valdemar, specifically the Vows and Honour trilogy. I can't remember which book probably Oathbreakers but don't quote me on that.
