Oh my goddess, I am so glad you still have your channel and make so useful and interesting videos even though you don't have enough views for your hard work. I hope you will get more popular because you deserve it so much!!
I do see a lot of people saying how their babies grow out of a wrap. I think more mommas should look into ‘backing’ or African baby back carrying, the fabric isn’t particularly special but works wonders for bigger babies 3-6 months plus. I plan on using a wrap and then backing my baby once they’re too big for the traditional style
Interestingly I was carried on the back as a baby in the traditional African style (I am South Africa), however I didn't feel comfortable learning this without support from wise women (I no longer live in South Africa). When Elba was a bit older I did back carry, but using the Japanese style because it was easier for me to learn how to do it on my own. Thank you for sharing!
I love your videos and I can obviously tell how much research you do - I am the same way! Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Oh and I LOVE your voice and beautiful South African accent.
Just found your channel, and I’m soo thankful for it! We will be delivering our first in March! I’m curious, how long did you go before giving first baths? It’s highly controversial with my family and I would love some more information!
So happy to have you here and excited for you. We didn't do a bath until 6 weeks. Of course we used a warm wet cloth to wipe up any messes (spit up, wee, poop etc), but only at 6 weeks did we put her full body in water. My reasoning is - I read (and my Midwives told me) that it's good to leave everything on their skin from the womb and the birth canal. It has health benefits. **but you could wait a few days for this. I waited weeks because my newborn wasn't dirty snd therefore didn't require a bath. Submerging in water can slightly dehydrate the skin (we live in a dry place) so I didn't want to unnecessarily expose her to that. We didn't use any soap for some time and even now only sometimes use a very basic tallow soap.
Hey Carmen, loved your video. There are so many things I would do differently a second time so it’s really nice to hear other people’s recommendations! Just on the term crunchy- and that you refer to yourself as a crunchy parent - what are your views on vaccinations? It’s quite common in the social media ‘crunchy’ environment to be anti all childhood vaccinations so I just wondered where you stood with this?
I have concerns about it being a default decision and I have concerns about the emotional responses parents get for questioning or wanting to thoroughly discuss medical interventions. The same way I approached other decisions - when it came to vaccines - I sought out resources to be more informed. I read several books - both pro & against, and some that advocate for delayed schedules or getting some and not others or spreading them out. I chose (for now) not to discuss this topic on social media because of how polarized & divisive it is. I'm more than happy to discuss it in one to one conversations. At some point I might, on social media, share resource I found valuable in making our decision.
@@carmenfourie5346 totally understand you not wanting to discuss this here. I didn’t really think of it in terms of consequences of taking a stand publicly, it was more just my curiosity because it’s often such a big pull in the crunchy community. And I only mention that term because you yourself call yourself crunchy x
Hi Carmen! I enjoy watching your videos! I’ll be having my baby in less than 6 weeks!! Would you mind resharing the link for the wipe warmer, please? The one that you shared in the description box takes you to a different product. Maybe it doesn’t work for me because I live in US and your link is for the Amazon Canadian store 🤔
Oh how exciting! Here is a US Amazon link to try: Prince Lionheart Warmies Wipes Warmer Designed for Reusable Cloth Wipes | Soft Glow Nighlight | Includes 1 everFRESH Pillow and 4 Warmies Cloth Wipes a.co/d/1Xo64rd

Thank you. Such a lovely and encouraging comment.
Tapioca as in water 'tap', i as in 'it',
o as in 'die ou is wakker' ,
then 'ka'
And it doesn't really matter how you say it!
Thank you!
The journaling to your baby is such a cute idea! All around great tips
I am glad to hear you think so. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I do not! But I can make one :)

I really liked your videos. Please can you do a video about breastfeeding?
I am happy to hear that. And yes! I will add it to my list of videos to make.
@@carmenfourie5346 You are so kind. Thank you.
