HOUSE TOUR - of the new place we are moving to
I really appreciate you sharing the details of your choices. We have similar values with minimalism, eating healthy and organic and the way we parent. It’s refreshing to see others be intentional in their lives. I just started using wool for diaper covers and seeing you knit those slippers makes me want to learn!
This is helpful, thank you
If my company pays 50% of my salary, and I’m supplementing the balance with annual leave and working half days, can I still claim UIF?
May you please advise does chairperson representing employer at arbitration hearing denovo at ccma
Hi Carmen, I love seeing your IG stories, and happy to tune in here on youtube as well :)
I think Halloween is a ridiculous "holiday"
You are not pregnant & you dont have a period
I knew I was pregnant the first time because at 3 DPO (I was using ovulation tests) I had extremely itchy nipples (never had this before). Lated around 3 days. So sometimes, yes we can know even before implantation.
New biggest fan of the Puff stitch
Jacky is really smart
You are weird. Your excess hand movement and voice is irritating. My 13min time is waste
My previous company went into business rescue and claims they are not able to pay our severence pay and outstandinf leave days.Is this legal or should i approuch CCMA
I just put my newborn baby (3 days old) on the potty just for kicks… me & my wife thought it would be funny to try and didn’t think much of it. When I say my 3 day old daughter IMMEDIATELY pee’d inside of her little potty within 30 seconds of me putting her on it, me & my wife looked at each other mouths wide open completely in disbelief. Thank you so much for introducing us to this. We’re going to continue to try this and watch more of your videos!
Thank you for sharing. This is a great video. As someone who is hoping to adopt similar choices, it is very helpful to hear your first-hand experience with all of this!
Maybe this is for people who cant afford to pay for diapers? I really dont see how it helps a baby. They cannot learn to use a toilet at this age.
Yeah maybe this is a great thing for people who want to save on diapers and/or laundry (cloth diapers), but the point is not for a newborn to use the toilet. I'll respond to your other comment about the point, but I do believe there is a lot of value for a baby when their parent is attempting to enhance communication and understanding to meet their needs, I think there is a lot of benefit to not sitting in their waste in a diaper and to have even a few of their outputs be into something and not a diaper. And to be diaper free a lot.
@@carmenfourie5346 I see the value in 1 less task to learn when they are toddlers, you can focus your time and effort into other things. I think mentally there’s this idea of being a “big boy” or “big girl” using the potty & if they already do it, this seems like it will open them up for more mature things & give them more autonomy & independence. And the less they sit in their waste, you reduce risks for rash & infections
Again I ask: what are your expectations? A baby cannot learn independent toileting until he can walk. A newborn is never going to be able to help himself potty. What is your expected goal for the baby?
Feel free to check out my other videos where I emphasize the point is not to be diaper free by a particular point. I cover many of the reasons why this, to me, is a respectful parenting approach. The point is enhanced connection & communication with your child. The point is - not to have a stark contrast of essentially encouraging or allowing them to pee or poop in a diaper and then changing this to a toilet, but rather have a gentle transition of what is age/developmentally appropriate. It definitely does lessen the number of diapers which is a nice benefit, but not really the main point. It also isn't about expecting them to independently toilet, it's awesome to have them toilet/potty with help of a parent and when they're able to go on their own then they do. But like with food and other needs we help and facilitate until they can do things on their own. I understand without a deeper understanding this may seem odd to do and maybe there is a resistance because it's contrary to the norm - so I encourage anyone who is curious to take the time to learn more about the theory of EC, because I don't want to cover the depth of it in a YT comment nor do I feel the need to convince anyone of its value. Hope that is helpful. This video is for people who want to do EC or want to learn about it, not to convince people to do it.
@carmenfourie5346 Thank you for a synopsis of this idea. It's totally new to me but then I am older with no baby. You are a new generation and you have the right to explore new things. You love and care for your baby and that is paramount. Since this is new there probably aren't many statistics in on it yet. So that remains to be seen. As the years pass I'm sure we will see more outcomes. Keep us informed please. Best wishes to you.
@@debbiechadwick861 Interestingly, there are many parts of the world that have been using this type of method for generations. Its became uncommon here with the arrival of disposable diapers and such, but its basically forgotten knowledge
Is it possible to feel small symptoms after conception but before implantation due to hormonal changes that occur after sperm meets egg ??
Some people say that have symptom changes, but in all my reading I have not found any evidence that suggests that there are hormonal changes that occur that early.
Such a great video, my son is eight weeks old and I’ve made a lot of the decisions shared here and I’d say the hardest part so far has been forming friendships. We had our first day out with mums yesterday and he was the only baby not in a pram with a dummy for the whole three hours (he was in my arms and then in the carrier) and so I was left out of a lot conversations (how to use pram in London, types of dummies, sleep training) . Then the other thing I didn’t anticipate is my husband being pressured to give me a “break” and he thinks people think he’s a bad partner/dad because I have to go where baby goes. So his co-workers are basically on his case about me needing to “go get my nails done or be pampered” and he hates having to constantly explain “we’ve chosen to do this for our family and my wife doesn’t do get nails ever”.
I hear you - I definitely did a lot of sitting around smiling and couldn't relate or participate in some parenting discussions. I hope you find your mom community with relatability soon! It makes such a difference to my life. and that is very interesting about the pressure your husband gets! Well, I hope he knows he is an awesome dad and partner for supporting the shared values and approach you have to parenting :) I'm going to ask my husband if people think he isn't "giving me a break" :) haha
Can you record a hearing or request it be audio recorded by the chair?!
Yes, you can. I recommend you simply inform the chairperson that you'll be recording the hearing. In all the hearings I've chaired I have never had a problem with someone wanting to record the hearing. That being said - I haven't necessarily found that it offered additional value to the person recording since I've never had a case where the recording was presented or transcribed and used in the case. If you take the matter to the CCMA they will focus on the facts of the case more than on specific things said in the hearing. Hope that helps.
I just found out im pregnant i just hope everything goes well
Hoping for you that all goes well. That is very exciting.
Hi please can you help the company that i was working for five years they are selling the company to another company,so before we start with the new company is it true that the older company must pay me the service money that i spend with them before starting with the new company please explain
Hi there - no, they do not need to pay you service money. The new company will take over your years of service and the old employer may or may not pay the new employer an amount for that. But it won't be paid to you. You will only receive severance if you are retrenched and then in that case the years of service will include the years you worked for the old employer.
dont watch this because a lot of talking not direct to the point
Just a reminder there are timestamps, but also the point was it is deeper and more complex than just symptom listing - so yup more talking than there types of videos usually have.
a lot of nonsense talking not direct to the point
Yup that's the plan when Elba is a little older :)
thank u a lot with this video how ever fixed term contract that is terminated within 3 months n provide no reason, just saying thank u 4 yo service in company n will no longer renew it. is that possible?
It depends. It depends on the reason for fixing the contract in the first place and whether there was a reasonable expectation that the contract would be renewed (if there was then this can fall under the definition of a dismissal and be challenged).
Finally someone who is real about it..
Hi. Been following you for a bit and your information has been so helpful. Been doing ec since my baby was 1 month old. He's now 8 months. I want to get one of Andrea Olsen's books. Do you think go diaper free or her potty training book would be better for me at this age? Thanks!!
Hi there - I would say at 8 months the go diaper free one. The potty training one is more for 18 months or older. I have a friend who got the potty training one when her kiddo was around 14 months and while she found value in it, she also used my go diaper free book a lot.
@carmenfourie5346 thank you!!
This is a super informative video. I’m looking forward to the future recommendations as your daughter grows. Thank you so much. 🙌
I am so glad to hear, thanks for sharing!

So true! Glad you found this useful!
Very informative! Great discussion about a complicated topic.
Thank you so much for sharing with us here, as a first time mom i had no idea where to start with my baby girl who now is 4 and half month old for EC,and i just started today with her to hold her on the potty and peed every time. im so happy and will contine trying. thanks again.
That is amazing!
Just had my first I really wanted a natural birth but my waters broke and I wasn't having enough contractions so after getting a pill to "get things going" I was shaking uncontrollably and throwing up with no breaks between unbearable contractions, I was terrified I wouldn't be able to move with the epidural but after I got it (apparently a fairly light dose) I could dance around and go on the birth ball no catheter and went to the bathroom on my own 😊 I did almost pass out when I tried to stand the first time after the birth though 😅now I'm debating whether I'll be willing to try a natural birth on the next one despite being so anti epidural before this one 😂 my entire labor and birth from the moment my waters broke to baby coming out was 12h which for a first kid I think it's pretty good 😊
Have you ever tried Dove sensitive skin bar soap for your husband? I know you go for everything organic, but trying this soap might help. I tried organic soap years ago because of sensitive skin. I can't use any soap that has a fragnance. I got such a rash from the organic soap. Went to the doctor and he said it was an allergic reaction. I didn't link it to the soap until I dropped the organic soap and switched to Dove sensitive skin. Only then did the rash disappear.
never cleaned a house until became a parent... wow... 🤯
A lot of South-Africans and for that matter, Namibians, grew up with domestic help. If you are not from there, it might be a weird concept. With unemployment so very high, it has always been a way to provide employment to women who otherwise would not have been able to find work. I didn't grew up in a house where it made financially sense. Anyways, we were 3 girls, so it were us and my mom who did the cleaning, laundry and cooking. Something that came in handy when we mkved to Canada. So it wasn't something new for me. However if you was a family that could afford to provide this employment opportunity to a woman so that she can feed her own kids, why wouldn't you?
Like this comment said - it is a very normal thing where I am from :) Also - not never, just almost never and definitely not as a regular occurrence. Anyways don't worry I am cleaning my house now :)
Clicked and then seen CALGARY!? 😍 we’re nearby and I’m a realtor who helps move doctors to Canada!
Hi! I have super sensitive dry skin too! I live in alberta, during the winter, i have my humidifier going, and i also keep a pot of water steaming on the stove all day long too.
Oh yes! haha our house now has several humidifiers going through winter. We got a nice big one that covers the downstairs area.
We're from Namibia that always has sun. Moving to Edmonton that has a lot less sun, I was like, the sun shines and we need to go for a walk right now. Then my husband would say, no he wants to first finish with what he's busy with and then we can go. Half hour later the sun was behind clouds. And I felt like I could go sit and cry because I missed the opportunity to be in the sun😂. Now it doesn't bother me that much anymore. But it was crazy in the beginning and back then Edmonton received more rain than what it's getting the last few years. Which means more sun for me😊
If you ever want to move within Alberta - Medicine Hat is a small city in the south and we get 330 days of sun! I’ve always known us to be the sunniest city in Canada but google only likes the big cities 😂
Learn to skate, cross-country ski and snowshoe.
When its below -15 go for a walk in the woods. The trees eliminate all wind; so that there is no wind chill. It's the wind that makes being outside feel so much colder.
Good to know!
I really appreciate your matter of fact honesty with the non linear learning journey. For a long list of reasons, we didn't feel able to try EC with our baby as a little baby (not least of which not even having time to explore it as an option until she was 9+. months). But we are trying now with her as a 12 mo old. Obviously we miss more than we catch, especially pees. I feel like we let her get used to even the wet/moist feeling even in cloth nappies, which is a little frustrating --mostly for ourselves, feeling a little bad that we let her sit in her soiled nappies long enough that she eventually got used to it 😢). Still, even after a week of trial and error at transition times we can already see she has quite a bit more body awareness. Our goal isn't "nappy free", and I try to remember that, as you say. I am mostly trying to improve communication, try to give her a bit more dignity to eliminate more not in her clothes/nappies, improve her body awareness, and maybe even make potty training a bit easier in 6+ months
Amazing, I love that. And even people who did do EC from birth often experience more misses than catches at 12 months just an FYI :) Definitely not linear. We've reached the end of our EC journey with Elba being completely out of diapers now (except night nappy), but I will share another update, because ending EC was definitely not how the people selling EC online made it seem and I think lots of parents can relate to that. It was still so so worth it and I will definitely do it again from birth with a future baby.
Very informative ❤
Great video!! Thank you. Im wondering how many diaper you went through? Although you still changed the diaper and kept her dry, do you think you still saved a number of diaper changes by doing EC? Were there times where you offer the toilet and the diaper was still clean so you just put it back on?
Hi there - yes. So many times, where I would simply put the same clean diaper back on. We used cloth diapers so the actual number of dirty diapers doing EC was much less than if we didn't do EC, but there are more "changes" (taking clothes off and offering) because of the choice to offer potty during transitions or when it seems like she needs to go or if she went. People not doing EC may not immediately change or change as often. Where I did as part of the process. So initially it is more effort, but it becomes less and less because of that initial "investment". Elba is now 20 months old and her last poop in a diaper was around 8 months (and it was in the car because I couldn't pull over on the highway). She currently only wears a diaper for nighttime sleep. So over time it becomes less and less dirty diapers.
@@carmenfourie5346 amazing! Thanks so much for the reply. Last poopy diaper at 8 months?!? Amazing. My husband is on board with EC and cloth diapering, but I’m doing the research on this one so I’m just trying to set our expectations. We both mostly work from home so I’m excited to give this a go. All the best 🤗
The way she looks at you 😍
Im in baby planning mode and youre channel is super helpful. I can completely relate to the concept of not being able to relate to others based on how I do things vs them. But it's always fun when you find that one person that gets it and you can just go nuts talking about your quirky habits that no one else gets!
Oh for sure! What an exciting time for you. I am glad you've found some of my stuff helpful.
Carmen I just found your channel, and it's lovely to find a fellow video creator in Canada! Gearing up for winter here too, although we're in Ontario and probably have a slightly milder winter than you guys. We don't have a garage in our current home, so organizing our front foyer at the beginning of each winter season has been KEY in us getting out every day. Loved the video!
Ah I am glad to hear. Lovely to connect!
At what stage does the chairperson gets details of the alleged charges? prior to the hearing or at the hearing?
It depends on level of detail you're looking for. Before the hearing the person received the notice to attend the hearing with the written charge on there. Often it is obvious what it relates to, but if it not then the person issuing the notice needs to provide some context. Some context here means enough detail for the person to prepare - typically just stating the incident it refers to and not going into much detail because the small details are discussed in the hearing. It is not appropriate for a chairperson to continue with a hearing if the employee does not know what the hearing is about.
I found the beginning confusing, we shouldn’t use past period history to predict when our period would come- but use a period tracker? Which tracks period history to predict future periods lol
I don't advocate for the use of period trackers to predict ovulation. I only recommend them in so far as they are used as a tool to log information for women to have an awareness of their cycles. Sorry about the confusion. I cover tracking in more detail in other videos.
I really enjoyed this style of video!
I am glad. More coming.
Great insight Carmen 👏🏾
I am glad to hear it. More coming.

Yes, thank you! I will do that.
