Water - 1 Cup
Black pepper - 1 pinch
Cardamom - 1 pinch
Mint - 15-20
Tulsi / Indian Basil Leaves - 15-20
Lemon juice - ½ tsp
Honey / Sugar - 1 tsp
Garnish with black pepper - 1 pinch

Water 1/4 cup
Milk - 1 cup
Tea - ¾ tsp
Sugar - 2 tsp
Cocoa powder - ½ tsp

Tandoori Tea
Kulhad / Clay Bowl - 1
Water - 1/4 cup
Milk - 1 cup
Tea - 1 tsp
Sugar -2 tsp
Ginger - ½ inch

Honey Lemon
1 cup water
½ tsp tea leaves
Sugar - ½ tsp
Lemon juice 1
Honey 2 tsp

Water - 1 cup
Sugar - 2 tsp
Tea - 1 tsp

I know back in the 90's you could buy loose tea & brew it in your coffeemaker. Now days, it's all bags. I have taken my vanilla or hazelnut coffee and thrown in a bag of herbal or chai tea in the basket. Wow, that adds some cool flavor. It works better if you open the tea bag and mix it in the grounds. I use a 5 cup drip coffeemaker by Capresso. I use the brass screen liner along with a paper filter underneath it. Causes a slight delay of dripping allowing the added tea to steep without sitting in a cup. Pure bliss!!

Why is it that it is very difficult to get the same taste of chai as restaurant and roadside tea vendors when we make tea at home. I use good quality tea brand like Tajmahal and Tata Gold and I have been making tea for years. I have tried various ways like brewing tea in hot water on slow fire for some time before adding milk and sugar and also brewing all of them at the same time. Only sometimes I get tea that taste like roadside tea vendors tea. I think it is difficult to get the perfect ratio of milk, sugar, water and tea. Brand of tea doesn't seem matter much as most tea vendors don't use expensive brand. Tea making is no small matter, it seems. It is an art.

Being able to recreate that same taste is so difficult. I only have been able to get close to it very few times, and that too by pure accident.
I think the secret lies in the ratio of milk:water:chai Patti:sugar, but now I think type of milk used is also very important
If you have noticed most of vendors use the same utensil without washing it specially to make it, it gives different type of taste when it is being again and again with same sort of tea masala, it make layer on the utensils and they clean the scums nicely maybe in 4 5 days and vice versa
