Part of why this works is that Paul really is so positive and down for everything that I have no doubt that he would really react exactly like this to All Star.

VRB - Oh for sure! Absolutely! They are definitely not taken seriously. Probably due to the ‘novelty’ nature of some of their biggest hits & the fact that Steve Harwell doesn’t look or sound like a typical front-man. These guys write and play well crafted pop songs, and have been blessed to work with excellent producers and engineers. It’s good stuff!
A friend shared this with me and I 100% thought it was real the first time through. Then I watched it again and laughed my ass off. Very funny and very well done. Kudos, and thanks!
This is SO well done! All the little nuances-instruments coming in, Paul reactions. I feel like this started as a joke and then you decided fuck it, lets do it properly.
Well I can say with certainty that this is the best thing I've found on the Internet today. It beckons back to the 'shred' videos of old with a lil acapella Smash Mouth (go ahead and search 'days like these' if you don't know what I am talking about).
One of my favorite mixes to this day is MouthSounds by Neil Cicierega. How he blends in All Star through the whole thing in different contexts is great, the technique gives new meaning to a lot of the songs in the mix.
I have t laughed this hard in literally MONTHS. What an amazing editing job, it just kept getting funnier the longer it lasted, and when Paul started dancing towards the end I had tears, actual TEARS and couldn't breathe. Bless your heart
I'm not gonna lie. This got me good. It was so bizarre and the editing was phenomenal. I'm thinking the whole time "damn that really is a good song." Hahaha
Back around 2002-2003 I was creating stems mixes for Universal Music Group and this is one of the songs that I created stems for at Royaltone Studios (RIP) in L.A. Who knows if Rick Rubin and Sir Paul are playing my stems but it certainly is a possibility. That session was a longtime ago but one thing I do remember is that the original recording engineer (Eric Valentine) did a great job with recording the multitrack.

Also kinda cool that the only reason I’ve now seen this is because of Ed, what a sick dude.
I don't even know how you edited this together. I suppose you had "stems" for the documentary's audio too or something, but everything about how the two of them move and respond to the music, and how the faders and stems are perfectly synced had me convinced this must be real.
